  1. Lol, Mauer is not walking away from 46 million dollars, nor should he. Also, future health? There are literally hundreds of jobs more dangerous than baseball.
  2. Gibson is going to make a min 2 but probably 3 rehab starts before he returns ( per Twins radio broadcast). Something has to be done with Hughes now, if he can't go past 75 pitches.
  3. 2.5 MORE months? Or total on the season? 2.5 more puts us into August. I don't think they can look him in the eye for that long if he keeps this up. If you aread saying mid to late June, ok I wouldn't wait that long but that's not terrible.
  4. Fair enough. I'd add Wade, personally, but outside of those two I don't have a problem with anyone else. Chargois to MLB maybe.
  5. Yeah timeline isn't the reason it bothers me I just want these guys constantly being challenged and making adjustments. If they think that is still happening at high A then so be it, but from the outside it sure doesn't look like it.
  6. I agree. The result of this HAS to be swapping May and Hughes, does it not?
  7. Because if he's at a level that's not challenging him then he might as well be sitting at home on his couch, it's not helping his development. Players learn by being challenged and learning how to adjust. I just don't see how him and Wade can possibly be forced to make any significant adjustments with as easy as they are making it look right now. I don't believe it harms a player one bit if you promote them aggressively and have to move them back down if it turns out they are not ready. In fact, it might be good for their development because then they know exactly what doesn't work at the next level.
  8. So the Twins will prematurely add Berrios to the 40 man roster, just so they can give him a super short leash (4 starts). But, they can't promote Gonsalves to AA until they are sure he'll stick there? Don't those seem a little contradictory?
  9. Maybe, but the Cubs also don't have an irrational fear of spending any real money (relative to provide sports), so it's probably not going to bother them too much. The Twins incessant fear of spending money is what forced them to have to do that extension. Hughes was already here, so it wouldn't have been the same as trying to sign an FA. They wouldn't have had to convince him to come here, they only would potentially have had to pony up legit ace money, and we know that will never happen.
  10. How can so many Twins pitchers have arm or shoulder fatigue so early in the season? It's pretty clear the training staff or techniques need to change. Is this club still adamantly against long toss for its pitchers?
  11. Why isn't he on the DL? He doesn't get to have it both ways, sorry. If he's healthy enough to start, he should be expected to go 100+ pitches. If not, he should be on the DL, period. I mean, is he trying to tough it out because we are in a pennant race?
  12. I get it. But 2014 Danny Santana showed that babip luck can last quite a long time in baseball. It's my belief that is what we are seeing from Nunez right now. You disagree. I can respect that, it's cool.
  13. I think he's been better, but I don't think the margin is as wide as you do, I think it's mostly luck based.
  14. I'll have to respectfully disagree. I'm at a point with this organization where I don't really think they are competent at any aspect, aside from maybe concessions at Target Field.
  15. Well with all the mistakes and misevaluations that this organization has made the last few years, I don't think I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that Polanco can't play SS just because they say so. And if Polanco can't out hit Nunez (.709 career OPS, 93 OPS+), then I'm going to be very disappointed.
  16. 1)I'm not saying he doesn't have value. I think he does. I'm on record in plenty of threads with how much I like him as a bench bat. 2) No, not .330, but he does have to significantly out hit his career averages to be an everyday player, considering how bad he is in the field. 3) I'm not arguing he doesn't belong on the team. I could go either way on that. I'm arguing he shouldn't be blocking Polanco. I'm sorry Brandon, with all due respect, I just think that's insane.
  17. So in other words this stretch of offense likely isn't sustainable once his babip normalizes.
  18. LENIII said on Barrerio yesterday that Ryan and Mollie have been waiting all season for someone inside the locker room to step up and be a leader and that they are kinda shocked that nobody in there has yet.
  19. What's his babip over that stretch? It's .390 this season. (Career .302) Aside from that, he's a butcher in the field.
  20. Well crap. This isn't going to help with Molitor's trust issues regarding young players.
  21. Well Polanco in the lineup lasted all of one day. I guess he didn't get the memo that hitting HR's are frowned upon.
  22. That wasn't the question I responded to. Why are you moving the goalposts?
  23. There is never going to be a roster spot here for Vargas with Park being legit.
  24. I think we are at 39 right now on the 40, are we not? Regardless, there are guys on the 40 that can be removed, like Wimmers and Vargas. Polanco's development is far more important than hoping to scrape some value out of Wimmers or Vargas.
  25. If Polanco isn't going to play every day, I'd rather have Beresford up here rotting on the bench.
