  1. I disagree. It's a good thing for prospects to deal with slumps. It forces them to think about adjustments so they don't just cruise to the mlb on sheer talent alone. Now we (and he) get to see how he responds.
  2. Not only that but there is just no reason whatsoever to give up on young upside when you are the worst team in the league. It's one thing when you are in a pennant race and you have to prioritize every single win right now. In that case, you can arguably justify it. Arcia has big time offensive potential. So far it's been hit or miss, nobody disputes that. But, the book is far from closed on his ability, and it wouldn't shock me if he goes on to have a very good career.
  3. That's not true. The Twins are not required to put him on waivers until the 7th day. The Twins can trade him to any team in baseball until that point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_for_assignment?wprov=sfla1
  4. I can't help but notice that many of the same posters who are always preaching patience are the same ones saying that this is the right move. Maybe I'm just cynical but I can't help thinking they just defend the front office as a default.
  5. Despite the worst record in the AL, this roster is just so loaded that they just didn't have room for him! Danny Santana, arguably one of the worst non catchers to ever carry a bat to the plate is somehow necessary to hold this team together! And notice how Seth hedges his bets so that 5 years from now when it's obvious this was a terrible move he can play it off as just another unlucky set of circumstances for Terry. On a 100+ loss team it's just sad that they couldn't commit to giving his bat a legit opportunity.
  6. Barring catastrophic injury, Berrios floor is a 4th starter. That's his absolute floor. Never ceases to amaze me how such tiny sample sizes can change people's perceptions.
  7. Of those 8 guys, the odds say that at most maybe 3 of them will make it to the big leagues for a sustained period of time, and 1 maybe 2 will hit their ceiling. That's just the nature of the beast with below AA prospects. No need to trade any of them at this point. If a few show sustained success at AA, then you can start thinking logjam.
  8. I didn't think we could possibly draft a cooler name than Akill Baddoo, but then we drafted Patrick McGuff. I really hope that guy defies the odds and makes it, just so I can say Pat McGuff alot.
  9. Even if those guys all pan out, who is going to pitch? This team is several years away from having a pitching staff that is just not embarrassing, never mind competitive. Sorry to say, but this team is not even close.
  10. Why? Because having Nunez might allow us to only lose 98 games the next couple years instead of 100? It's time for this club to finally fully commit to a rebuild. That means trading guys like him. Nunez will not continue to play even close to this well. I don't want to hear anything about supposed hindsight next year when he's a replacement level player and we declined to trade him.
  11. He may only bring back a lotto ticket or two, I'm fine with that. In a vacuum it's unlikely that whoever he brings back will pan out, but the more lottery tickets you acquire the better chance you have of hitting. We can sign anyone to ride the pine for a few more 90 loss seasons, we have no real need for Nunez in the near future. He has value coming off the bench on a contending team. Not so much on a 90 plus loss team.
  12. Some of the 11 through 40 picks bewildered me but I think Seth pretty much nailed 1 to 10. Though, I'd flip Berrios and Kepler, mainly because pitching is going to have a bigger impact on turning this thing around.
  13. Nunez will be, at best, the 24th or 25th player on someone's roster by the time the Twins are a WS contender again. I can't believe that roughly half the people in here think that we should hold onto him. They need to trade him, and trade him for whatever they can get today, while he's still hot. The "real" Eduardo Nunez is likely a replacement level player.
  14. Hated the Wimmers pick at the time. That and Levi are probably the only ones that were bad picks at the time.
  15. What do the Twins know about Schick that the scouting sites don't? I see his highest ranking is 498 from Baseball America.
  16. We all know the WHEN. What day is the estimated super 2 cut off this year? He'll be up the next day.
  17. Nope, we traded Miguel Sulbaran for him, and Sulbaran was previously acquired for Drew Butera.
  18. The reason I'd want to trade Park is not because I don't like him, but because I don't think we'll be ready to compete during his productive years. I know most of the board sees this year as a painful speed bump that we'll be past soon, but I just don't agree. I think this team is still 3+ years away from even considering contention. We only have 1 starting pitcher above A ball ( aside from maybe Kohl Stewart and his 1 AA start) that has a chance to be anything better than league average, and he's scuffling with control at AAA right now. That's great that we have Buxton and Sano and Kepler and Polanco, but until Jay and Gonsalves and Stewart get closer to the big leagues our pitching staff has no chance to compete in this league, none.
  19. Short of whipping a toddler with a tree branch, or allowing his 4 year old to climb into a gorilla exhibit, Jack along with every other member of the 91 team, has earned a lifetime pass in my mind.
  20. Minnesota Wild beat writer for the Star Tribune. Might be the best beat reporter of any team in any sport.
  21. Not true at all. Michael Russo proves that you can be fairly critical when deserved, and still be well respected by the team you cover. I don't think anyone is asking Seth to take cheap shots or anything like that. I think 99% of professionals, not just in sports, will respect fair criticism.
  22. It sounds like you are saying that someone can only be deemed as poor at their job if they get every single decision wrong. Of course they all make some good moves and some bad moves. They need to be judged by how those moves stack up against their peers. Right now the proof is in the pudding, and it ain't good. Whoever said it earlier in the thread is right. This is a business. Results matter, not just the process. It's just not possible that an organization could be this bad for this long without at least one current member of Management being poor at their job.
  23. 1) Our TV deal is often cited as an excuse for why we can't spend more. Is St. Peter not responsible for that? 2) Is there even one specific member of Management, front office, scouting, or field staff that you think is bad at their job? Because I've seen you defend all of them, which was my overall point.
