  1. It's amazing how everyone is great at their job on a team about to lose 90+ games for the 5th year out of six. Just awful luck, I suppose.
  2. When would a DH ever even be on the turf??
  3. Tough day for the affiliates when the pitcher of the day award goes to a guy who gave up a whopping 10 baserunners in only 5 innings. Yikes.
  4. Fast track Jay? Or did I misread the post? Jay is still in A ball. Fast tracking a college pitcher would have him knocking on the door, if not in the majors already.
  5. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, I want to go on record as being in disagreement of pretty much every thing you just said about Nunez. He's already accumulated a negative 0.6 defensive WAR. He's pretty awful in the field. Aside from a slightly increased line drive ratio, I can't find anything to suggest his newfound offense is sustainable. His babip is .358, more than 50 points higher than his career number. He is striking out more than ever (17.7%, career is 13.5), walking less than ever (3.4%, career is 5.5), and hitting more and more fly balls. He will turn back into a pumpkin. The Twins should sell high, if they can. It will not be hindsight when we come to regret not trading him when we could.
  6. I agree completely with this premise. This is why I think that without a complete regime change, this team is still several years away from relevance. I think this current regime honestly thinks this is a more talented group than it really is, and that they've just been unlucky.
  7. Milone recently cleared waivers. Nobody wanted him for free, why would anyone trade even a bucket of balls for him?
  8. It's fun to watch Walker's milb power, but I have to agree with Thrylos (and many other TD'ers). Guys with Walker's profile don't usually make it in the mlb. That said, there is zero to lose by giving him a shot.
  9. That's fine. I don't have an issue letting him get plenty of AAA ab's. But whenever it is that he comes back up he's likely going to struggle at first. There is no amount of minor league at bats that can prepare a guy for mlb pitching. At some point he's going to have to come up and be allowed to struggle at the mlb level and not be sent back down, but to be allowed to learn how to hit mlb pitching.
  10. Of course SSS is a real thing. That is kind of my point. 14 more innings is still going to be a tiny sample size. That is the life of a reliever. It's going to take an entire career to go beyond SSS as a reliever. He has mlb stuff. Arms only have so many bullets in them. Frankly, in a lost season, it's laughable that he's not up right now. There is no downside. He has options, he can be sent back down if he is overwhelmed.
  11. Yep,nothing else to do. If only we had a legit bullpen prospect who is striking out 2/3 of the hitters he faces.
  12. 6 million would be an absolute bargain for an average starting pitcher.
  13. Is Milone in, Nolasco out any tangibly different? Neither is going to be a part of the next contending team, and a couple more or less wins this season mean nothing. Any move that doesn't involve a legit potential future piece is just one step closer to complete apathy. Getting harder every day to care.
  14. Wait , did you just say that he's not mlb ready, but if he pitches 14.1 more innings he should be closing mlb games? I think you overestimate how much more he can learn in 14 innings. If he's ready then he's ready now. If he's not ready now he's not going to be ready in 14 more innings.
  15. So before he was too good to go back to the rotation and now he's too bad? Is there a situation where he should get another shot at starting?
  16. The excuse for keeping May in the bullpen was that he's too valuable there to move back to the rotation. If he no longer has value in the pen he should be moved back into the rotation.
  17. I'm clinging to the hope that he's being stretched to go back to the rotation. Not that it's likely, but it's really all I have to cling to.
  18. Dozier is one player. When the whole team is under performing, that can't be just coincidence. In your example, if I'm a bad apple at my job, yeah it's my fault. If everyone in my department is consistently failing, it's my manager who is going to be out of a job.
  19. Wait, what? An ERA well over 5 over 45 starts?? That's about as consistently terrible as you are going to get in the post steroid age.
  20. Relax guys. Terry can fix this thing. He just needs to take a look at more Grossman types (Burnett will help).
  21. Because either A) They don't have the talent, in which case the FO is to blame for assembling the team. Or They are not playing up to their talent level. This is on the field staff for not coaching them up to their ability. Explain to me why teams hire coaches if they don't have an effect on players?
  22. Maybe, but aside from Sano and Duffey, was anyone on the Twins roster today a part of these last 4 winning milb seasons?
  23. Effort at what? Trying to pretend being someone you aren't isn't going to have the effect you are seeking. It only takes watching one interview with Joe to see he's not a leader. Again, that's not something you can learn, at least not as an adult.
  24. Meh, you can't be someone you aren't. Some guys are natural leaders, some guys are not. It's not something you can learn. I have worked for people who were not natural leaders and it was laughably transparent when they tried to be.
