  1. Oh absolutely. Like I said, scary is just one of a mix of emotions that come with raising a child. The good ones you get from them far outweigh the bad ones...most of the time!
  2. If it's so likely that Pohlads remarks regarding Mollie are purely lip service than who does it serve to even say them? Are some suggesting that Molitor is so dense that we can spot empty rhetoric but he can't? Pohlad may eventually change his mind regarding Molitor, but at this moment I think he believes what he said.
  3. I have one child of each gender, and scary is one part of the overall mix of emotions that comes with raising any child. Because of the fact that there are predators in our society, and women are much more likely to be the victim of many types of them, such as sexual assault and domestic violence, then yes there is a different kind of fear that comes with raising a daughter. If someone believes that thought process makes me sexist, then I guess I will have to take my medicine on that.
  4. You don't have to say that. "Molitor will be our manager through the remainder of this season. At this time, we think he is the right man for the job, but it really wouldn't be fair to speculate on how the new GM will evaluate our staff going into next year. " What would have been wrong with that statement?
  5. Classic. My daughter went as Eeyore for her first Halloween. Crazy that was 12 years ago! Thanks for reminding me of that!
  6. But there was still supposedly a 3 or 4 week gap in there. So, there is still a timing aspect there. Maybe they wanted to wait until after the HOF weekend? That seems kind of trivial, considering there are actual baseball decisions that need to be made, other teams have already started making deadline trades. Or, perhaps this is because of a disagreement, and rather than turn it into an ugly he said she said argument, all parties agreed to say it's been in the works for some time. Even if you disregard the 3 week delay, we've known the season was lost for much, much longer than that, so there is another question of timing. What changed on say, July 1st that was substantially different than on June 1st? I'm not convinced there wasn't a specific philosophical difference involved here somewhere, though we'll likely never know.
  7. By saying there are only so many of these jobs, you are already lowering your aim. The best and brightest minds are not going to feel like they can't pass up a job because there are only so many. The best and brightest are going to have multiple teams vying for their services. Guys like that are going to laugh at an owner choosing the manager. Shouldn't we be setting our sights on those guys, not just the guys who are going to take the first job offered? If I'm a highly sought after potential GM, I'm not even considering a situation where I can't even choose my own manager.
  8. Maybe, but how many good candidates will cross themselves off our list, due to a perception that ownership will meddle, before Pohlad comes to that realization?
  9. Ok I misunderstood Tonkin's service time. I took bbrefs 1.005 as a running tally, didn't realize that was entering the season. So yes, he will not be a super 2.
  10. Tonkin has just a hair over 1 year of service time. He's under team control at least through the 2020 season. He will be a borderline super 2 after next season.
  11. It would have been an affront to America to put this garbage on television on a day as revered as the 4th of July.
  12. Ok, the term "bruise" must have changed over the years. How do you have a setback from a bruise?
  13. Unless you mean Bob Gibson, he's never a player who is going to be too expensive for anyone. Gibsons ceiling is a number 3.
  14. I get there is this image of Joe as this really humble guy who doesn't care about the money, but sorry, everyone cares about the money. Nobody is walking away from that kind of money. Maybe he would agree to deferring that money over 15 years or something, or a partial ownership stake, but he's not just leaving it on the table. And for the record, nor should he.
  15. Please point me in the direction of one single post on all of Twins Daily that claims it is all Mauer's fault? Pointing out out his struggles does not equal blaming the whole mess on him. We get it, he used to be a really good baseball player. That doesn't buy him a lifetime of immunity from any and all critique.
  16. Right. Just like he got a chance to "compete" ( wink, wink) for a rotation spot this Spring?
  17. JR Murphy sits at .229. Thats OPS, not batting average. Too early to judge, but IF we did, the Yankees got the better by a landslide.
  18. No, he doesn't. It's the minor leagues. No reason he can't start and go 2 to 3 innings. Heck, even if he started and only went 1 inning, that would still be different. It's a different routine and mindset, starting vs relieving.
  19. It shouldn't, but still does shock me that May is, it appears, staying in the bullpen. I guess I assumed it was a no brainer that now is as good a time as ever to put him back into the rotation.
  20. Can I get a preemptive list of the excuses we'll see to let the Twins off the hook when Arcia becomes a valuable player? And yes, before you ask, I'll absolutely eat crow if he busts out.
  21. Because if it was that easy to throw the ball exactly where you want, they'd all be Greg Maddux.
  22. Hrbek is my 3rd favorite Twin of all time, behind Kirby and Johan. I realize that adds nothing to the specific topic, but I'm just sayin.
