    That's a good ranking, but things are going to get much more challenging as the year progresses. Ryan and Abel have had the elbow issues now, and Prielipp has had previous issues. They'll be closely watching pitch counts on all those guys. The "long relief" role will become more critical - maybe guys like SWR, Morris, and Adams.

    True SWR isn't a conventional wipeout bullpen guy - they traded all of those guys. But as the article mentioned he's pretty decent first time through the order. And....and....well, he's durable.

    SWR could be invaluable in a bullpen role and it'd be a perfect fit. Hopefully circumstances will allow it to happen soon. I'm surprised they didn't give Abel more time off to rest his elbow. Granted, my own experience with elbow strain is pointing the remote toward the TV, But something as critical as that I would think would have warranted a month or two off.

    The Cleveland Guardians seem to always operate at or below the Twins operational budget. And they always seem to have superior pitching. WDCD. (What Does Cleveland Do).

    I don't blame Shelton. He has to play the walking dead he's been given on the bullpen roster. Who else has he got. On the other hand, Shelton knew exactly what he was signing up for.

    Watching Wallner bat now is painful. It's almost sadistic that they keep running him out there.

    One big line item on the Twins' 2026 to do list IMO was for Lewis and Wallner to make clear statements about their baseball futures. So far they couldn't be more clear - but not what was hoped for.

    I have a suspicion, based on nothing but a conspiracy theory in my own mind, that part of the problem with Keaschall is they messed with him to try to get more power in his swing. His swing should be nice and controlled and level. It doesn't seem level anymore - it seems like he's lunging around up there almost as bad as Lewis. Martin and Keaschall are just not power hitters, but can be very good table setters.

    With Buxton it's a matter of what are you going to believe - the stats or your own eyes. He's stopped trying to make plays that got him injured - to keep himself in the line-up, while still picking his spots and making some outstanding plays. IMO, he's playing the best all around baseball of his career. The Varland trade was awful on many levels. Varland was a proven ML commodity while Rojas and Roden may never amount to anything. The value of a starting pitcher versus reliever is blurred like never before with shorter starts for starters. And the trade without a doubt proves the lie of the Twins' stated goal of competing THIS YEAR.

    It'll be interesting to see what happens with Marek Houston. Some seemed to already have their minds made up when he barely had his shoes laced up that he was a good field/no hit player. Now he's hitting.

    I like Jeffer's bat, but it'd be nice to have a catcher who can throw somebody out at 2B, especially since the running game in general has made a resurgence. But it's a moot point because I don't think they'll extend him.

    I have previously read references to E-Rod's high strike out levels, and the possibility that ML pitchers are going to eat him alive. If that's the case, I wonder why he has been so highly rated. Another case of false hype and hope?

    Those "crowds" in Target Field have been scary bad. I've been a fan from the beginning of the Twins and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. There are many things that play into it outside of the Twins control. Hopefully things heat up with the temperatures.

    I totally agree. Never understood Buxton leading off. It's a story of the big contract wags the dog.

    Orze you not entertained??? Oddly enough, I'm optimistic. What if there was a rotation of Ryan, Ober, a healthy Abel, Bradley, and Prielipp. Move SWR and Matthews to the pen. Call up E-Rod and somebody else with a pulse. Better. They do have something to work with. Tickets are selling fast!

    Buxton's playing smarter to keep himself in the line-up, while still making unbelievable catches including today at the CF wall. He also hit a ground ball today right on the screws to SS with a man on first, and he beat the relay when 99.9999% would have been doubled up. He's still fun to watch. The bullpen atrocities - not so much.

    Does the speed of a hit really correlate to anything - other than that the hitter made good contact on that one pitch?

    I know this has been repeated ad nauseum, but I can't help it: Watching balls continue to leak through the shortstop hole that should be outs, it's impossible to comprehend how the Twins draft decision makers saw Brooks Lee and his obvious lack of speed and range and said "there's a number one draft choice ML shortstop".

    I feel bad for Wallner. As Morneau pointed out last night, he's missing pitches that are right in the zone, which is a bad sign. Plus ML pitchers have found holes in his swing and will exploit them all day long until he figures it out. It might be a blow to his ego, but he really needs a trip to the Saints.

    It's kind of counterintuitive, but command of the off speed stuff seems to be of greater value at the Major League level than the heat. Ryan and Ober are examples. Prielipp has both, so I can see why the Twins have been so excited about him.

    I just don't think it's that big of a deal whether he's a starter or bullpen. The greatest need will be bullpen and that's where he should be. The Twins just faced an outstanding arm last night in Holmes, who transitioned from the pen and is an excellent starter. Relax. Have a sandwich or something.

    I was hoping Matt Wallner would succeed as much as anybody. Who doesn't like a 30 to 40 home run stud in the middle of the lineup? But it's time to take a cold, hard look at what's actually happening. He's 28 years old in what should be the prime of his career and is hitting .190 - and is a liability in the field. E-Rod may or may not be the answer, but this is The Show, and the Twins owe it to the fans to at least try to find something better.

    Kreidler can hit just fine! He has only one fewer home runs than the mighty Wallner, and only 2 fewer RBI's!

    New promotion - one lucky fan per game is chosen at random and granted the privilege of smoking a cigar in the stands to bring back the memories of the old Met Stadium.
