  1. I think this is the correct way to think about it and I would support it. But the challenge is that most fans have an overly simplistic view of it - the robo ump numbers are definitive to them. And, as you noted, this is probably as much to increase fan engagement as it is to "get it right" otherwise we wouldn't have the challenge system. At a certain level they might be doing something similar already for precision (not accuracy) reasons, although I haven't heard it described. Is 0.1" the smallest increment that they identify publicly? I presume the precision is at least an order of magnitude smaller, let's just say it is 0.01". If they identify 0.0" results than likely anything between +/- 0.05 would get reported as 0.0" which I assume would mean the umpire's call stands. I would be disappointed in MLB if they forced a rounding to either +/- 0.1" and did not report a 0.0" but I suppose it is possible.
  2. "According to MLB the ABS system is 99% confident that the ABS is no more than 0.39 inches from its predicted location. It is 95% confident that it is no more than .48 inches from its predicted location. " It should be more confident about a larger range. Do you have the numbers swapped?
  3. I've been 6'2" since high school. Last year at my physical they said I was 6'1" .... I disagreed, they said sometimes you shrink, I pouted. This year I was back at 6'2" .. all is good in the world =)
  4. Agreed. And it might be more than double if the rumors are accurate.
  5. I find these articles interesting, but I think an outline of the selection criteria would helpful. On the one hand it reads as if there is a set criteria, but on the other hand it feels almost as if it is just the author's subjective opinion. In reality it is, I'm sure, both. But difficult for the reader to understand without the selection criteria =)
  6. Anybody know if the Twins.tv will include audio streaming similar to MLB.tv? I like to have the option available when I don't want to be in front of the tv for 3 hours and streaming WCCO seems a bit hit or miss. I don't see any mention of the audio streaming.
  7. Not so sure about those numbers - I think we're talking more like $4billion .... the power of compound interest =)
  8. What am I missing on this trade? Granted Civale hasn't had a great year, but a controllable starter should get more than the 26th rated prospect in the Brewers minor leagues, right? Or are there more details pending on this trade?
  9. Can someone explain the back of Bucks neck?
  10. I wouldn't agree. I tried this last year. I'm a very technical guy. Setting things up to watch on my tv without redirecting all my internet traffic was fine, but a pain. But MLB.tv was very aggressive about blacklisting the VPN's and it turned into a big cat & mouse game. When I want to watch the game, I just want to sit down and watch it. And you still needed to pay for the MLB.tv subscription, the VPN subscription (I wouldn't use a freebie), & potentially hardware depending on your set-up. While the Fubo stream is about twice the cost for the season, it's worth it so far for ease of use. Would be different if I was still young and my time was worth less. So, can a VPN work? Certainly. No issues? Don't buy it!
  11. Minnesota Twins optioned 2B Edouard Julien to St. Paul Saints per MLB.com & StarTribune.com, presumably to make room for Lewis.
  12. An Ode to the Sausage* Behold, the mighty sausage, a culinary delight, Thy savory scent doth fill the air with might. Thy casing, plump and firm, a sight to behold, Thy juices, rich and warm, a tale to be told. Like the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd, Thy presence doth make our spirits soar, unbowed. For in thee, we find a taste of the game we love, A symphony of flavors, a gift from above. O sausage, thou art the king of all meats, Thy majesty, a triumph that none can beat. Thy legacy, shall live on through the ages, Immortalized in verse, upon these pages. (*This Shakespearean-style ode to a sausage was written by Perplexity, a helpful AI assistant created by Perplexity AI.)
  13. Feels like sweeping the double header could be a significant change in momentum for the team, especially if they can pick-up the series finale. That said the hitting has been very mediocre and while the outcomes were improved today the hitting felt only marginally improved.
  14. I'm just waiting for the chatter to become how much of a steal he is for his salary of $15million. When that happens, he's back! But damn, that was a nice catch!
  15. Bravo! Well done on this look back, this is why I read Twins Daily! I am actually quite surprised on how many of these players are still relevant after 3 years. Not sure exactly what I expected in terms of %'s, but when you go 30 deep in prospects this includes a lot of players with very questionable futures (could be a major league player but will need to address x, y, & z =).
  16. Just thinking about watching Buxton patrol the outfield again makes me smile. That's why I love baseball!
  17. Twins at 21 ... and at 33 for Sonny Gray ... https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-2024-draft-lottery-results
