  1. Just nix any thoughts of trading Joe. Nothing is worse for a player's psyche then to hear about trade talk concerning himself. He's capable of pitching a no-no someday if given a chance. I'd rather see that he remains a Twin-4-ever. This is all crazy talk because like CC, Ryan sells tickets & keeps hope alive.
  2. Acquiring Wong would seem to be a nightmare scenario, a streaky fly by night non-MLB viable catcher that won't be able to hold his own. If he can't professionally hit & catch by now then leave him where he lies. Goodness gracious sakes alive. Please sign a game ready pro & not someone from the scrap heap.
  3. Mauer was also a starting high school quarterback. What QB hasn't had his cage rattled more than once?
  4. If you want to play with Carlos Correa then you'd better know how to play the game. End of story.
  5. I didn't realize that the Ishiba brothers were Chisox investors to begin with. Was that ommitted from most of the media hype? Did floating the idea of buying the Twins allow him to get a better deal on buying more shares of the Chisox? Maybe just using interest in the Twins for leverage? Whatever it is, it is what it is.

  8. CC is more popular than the Pohlads and the players like him more than Rocco, Soon they'll both be gone & CC will still be in the clubhouse. I'm sure that he chats to all of the players on a regular basis about everything from A to Z. Everything is good in his world so his state of mind is doing just fine & dandy. There's no need to make his state of mind sound like a Peyton Place. That's exacty why he has a no trade clause because all he needs to do is focus on playing baseball. He can only control that which he can control & doesn't waste time on the stuff that he can't. He has an ironclad contract & that gives him great peace of mind. The fans should be more like him & not have a worry in the world.
  9. Tradijng Vasquez without a viable backup will lead the new owners to roll some heads in the FO. What a way to sabotage the team. Who would want to lose their job by making that move? If folks want to watch AAA baseball players then go watch the Saints play.
  10. I'm happy for Joe Ryan. Sometimes I think that he's under appreciated. I'm looking forward to him pitching a no hitter someday. He's capable of pitching a gem. Give that Deadhead some more money & eventually Twins fans will be Dancin' in the Streets!
  11. CC would want tons of more money to allow a trade & he hasn't proven that he can deliver the goods due to his recent injury woes. He won't allow a trade to send him where he may get boo'd. He's comfortable enough with TC & I don't foresee any team offering him more money than if he stays. He can choose to outlast the Pohlads & stick with Buck, Lewis & the rest. When push comes to shove, CC determines his own fate & not the FO. The Twins would not be stupid enough to trade him. What's the FO going to do, split the premium with him? Hee Haw! As a mattor of fact, CC would only endear himself even more to Twins fans by saying no to any trade that the FO concocts. How about this for a new nickname for TC - The Cripples! 😆
  12. In 2024, Prato made ZERO errors playing 29 games at 2B (236.2 innings) In 2024, Prato made 8 errors in 42 games at 3B (342 innings) In 2024, Prato made zero errors in 3 games at SS (18.2 innings), 1 error in 9 games playing LF (66.2 innings) & zero errors in 21 games playing RF (167 innings). Prato played SS in college. https://www.milb.com/player/anthony-prato-668791?stats=career-r-fielding-minors&year=2024
  13. The Twins do have a player that could replace Castro, Anthony Prato. His OBP last season with the Saints was .370. He's played 3B, 2B, SS, LF, RF. https://www.milb.com/player/anthony-prato-668791?stats=career-r-fielding-minors&year=2024
  14. The question that I want answered is whether Willi can produce in a season when the Twins stars are not injured, If he can produce along with the stars playing then his value will continue to rise. But if he only plays his best when the stars are injured then it means that his stock isn't worth as much as the hype suggests. I'm more of a wait & see how much that he's worth before signing him to any kind of extension. For comparison, the Twins traded Eduardo Nunez to the Giants after he become an All-star and he was a better hitter than Willie.
  15. The Twins certainly can sign him in 2026 as a free agent which is how they signed Correa. As far as comparing WAR of players competing for playing time, those stats are all in the past tense & don't account for any future progress. Who would have thought that Arraez would have become a batting champion? Every MLB team treats players like they're expendable because they are. It's a meat market & I'm not sure that the Twins are convinced that they need to sign Wilie to a 3 year extension. Right now he has another year to prove himself because he's not going to take any pay cuts & there are other players that they need to make decisions about, both vets & prospects. I'm hopeful that they'll keep Willie for 2025 but beyond that I expect some new blood will be joining the team. Just wait & see if the team is sold & if Willie can improve his worth next year or not. IMO there;s no outstanding reason to rush an extension but there are reasons for the process to go slowly.
  16. IMO the Twins will pay Willie's arbitration salary next year & keep him. But beyond that he needs to prove that the bottom won't drop out again. Players of his caliber seem to perform better when they're on short term prove it deals. I doubt that the Twins will have room for him in 2 years if they want to take full advantage of their farm system by bringing up the best prospects. The chronically injured players need to prove that they can be more durable too so the FO will wait before extending Willie to see how it all pans out.
  17. Here's the 2024 Forbes list of valuation rankings of all MLB teams. https://www.forbes.com/lists/mlb-valuations/
  18. Spotrac estimates Castro is worth $6.8 mil next season. I think the Twins will keep him around for next year but won't be able to sign him to an extension. He'll fly the coop & become a FA journeyman if he needs to. I doubt that he'll get the deal that he wants to sign an extension. I'm not so sure that the Twins should lock him in with an extension either. It could impact their payroll flexibility. There shouldn't be a rush to sign him to an extension. His batting average wasn't that high & he's replaceable. I doubt that the Twins want to add higher costs than necessary to continue covering for injury prone players at SS, 3B & CF. The Twins won't want to pay him $30 mil more when the team is up for sale. They didn't even want to pay Polanco $10 mil. Maybe something will change once he hits FA or if he has a super season next year.
  19. The Twins will most certainly be sold. And it's not only about the profitability of the team. Among the reasons why the ultra-wealthy buy sports teams is to enjoy the tax write offs through the 15 year amortization law. That way the owner can save millions in taxes for 15 years which coincidentally corresponds to the amount of time that the current Pohlad family has owned the team (since 2009 I believe). If the team is sold quickly it will correspond to the end of theTarget Field lease & the new owner will be at the 15 year window of opportunity to sell the team again . Owning a sports team is a big tax write off for the wealthy owner for the first 15 years. The linked article describes how the write offs work. The Billionaire Playbook: How Sports Owners Use Their Teams to Avoid Millions in Taxes https://www.propublica.org/article/the-billionaire-playbook-how-sports-owners-use-their-teams-to-avoid-millions-in-taxes BTW, the bonus depreciation benefit for new owners is being eliminated after 2026. https://www.sportico.com/business/finance/2022/coveted-tax-write-off-for-sports-team-1234699071/
  20. I give the Pohlads credit for helping to save the Twins & stabilizing the team in Minny. There's too much hate & blame on them for the direction of the team. That anger needs to be directed to the front office which is who they relied on. The injuries & bad trades aren't their fault. The reality is that Minny is a small market team & that will never change. The fans tend to forget that virtually no owner will want to take financial losses & gambles to win pennants. This all reminds me of The Who song that goes - "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" All we can do is hope but I'm not going to blame the Pohlads. They've been good people and provided us fans with good entertainment for the most part. The hate & anger needs to end which may be why they're selling. They're smart people, they're good people. They have been good for the team, & for Minny. Let's pray & hope for a better future for everyone including the Pohlads. Stop the hate.
  21. I agree with using Paddock as a combo starter - long reliever. Too many Twins pitchers have setback games to where the Twins require an early hook for the pitcher. I have no problem having a rotation of 6 starters. Perhaps that could save some arms for later in the season. There's too many arms being lost late in the season. It's better to keep Paddock around & give him & others some extra rest between games. If he needs to come out of the pen then he comes out of the pen. But we need more of our starting pitchers to last all season. We paid him to get fixed, next it will be time for him to pay us back. I hope he can handle it & improve even more.
  22. It seems like he hindered his own chances for promotion by getting injured which has nothing to do with his age. That & his left hand bat led the FO to put him on the back burner. It's not like the FO had a crystal ball when it planned for this season. If there's an injury to a left hand batting OF'er then maybe he'll get the call. Right now he's just a square peg.
  23. IMO the majority of fans want him to succeed with the Twins. Now that he's approaching his prime, he deserves a chance. If the Twins trade him it will be a missed opportunity because thier investment appears to be panning out. I'll bet that Randy has a big chip on his shoulder & believes that he has something to prove, & that is that he belongs in the bigs. IMO he's not a fluke.
  24. Damn the bureaucrats & red tape. Randy! Randy! Randy! He's the type that can beat the Yankees. He's done his oart, now it's up to the FO to do theirs. He's a late bloomer, so what?
  25. I love that Hill is a lefty & cou;d become another Randy Johnson. The rest are all pro-caliber prospects & their chances are good to become household names among Twins fans in the future. Always remain optimistic because all of the college stats will be thrown out the window as they start a new. They're all elite & the best of the best.
