  1. I was only two when the Twins went 60-102 in '82. That '82 team had youngsters like Frank Viola, Gary Gaetti, Kent Hrbek, Tom Brunansky, Tim Laudner, Randy Bush... A nice core that grew together, took their lumps, and then surprised the world in 1987. I remember my dad and Grandpa talking about the '82 season a lot in 1987, and how it was worth it. I hope I don't have to wait until 2021 for Sano, Buxton, Rosario, Polanco, Berrios, and Kepler to win a World Series, but I'm going to enjoy watching them grow as players and as a team until then.
  2. So the plan to rest Mauer more early in the season is by carrying no one else as the back-up first baseman? I hope Danny Santana bought a first baseman's glove from Sports Authority's clearance sale last fall.
  3. Same scout said: Twins should have definitely moved Dozier (but doesn't say for what or whom); Sano is not good at third; Buxton needs to bunt; and - while admitting Rosario and Kepler both have strong arms - neither are offensive players, which is what teams need from their corner outfielders.
  4. I don't have the link, but I have the SI (2017 MLB Preview) in front of me. Here's what "a rival scout" wrote: "They [Twins] gave Jason Castro a lot of money to be their front-line guy. They had a good defensive catcher in Kurt Suzuki and let him walk. I would rather have Suzuki than Castro..."
  5. New drinking game. Everytime Sano checks his swing take a drink and I'm drunk.
  6. Byungho Park's 4th spring homerun makes me happy.
  7. Update: Solo homerun from Jorge Polanco in 2nd; three-run homer from Brian Dozier (scoring Stubbs and Buxton) in third. Twins up 4-0 in Bottom of 3rd. Phil Hughes has given up one hit, zero walks, one strikeout.
  8. I had one usher up in the right field grandstand check our tickets, and would not let us sit there. We had tickets for much more expensive seats, but my 4-year-old son likes to wander, and likes ice cream, and wanted to sit to eat his Dippin' Dots. The usher made us move out of his section. But that is only one bad experience. Most every other game, we've sat EVERYWHERE (outside of obviously-restricted seats, like directly behind home or Budweiser Roof Deck or the Club Seats) with no problems.
  9. I got a job with the Twins this season. I'm on the Rally Team. Basically, I think I'm doing this all summer:
  10. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources-mlb-seeking-new-ball-with-stickier-cover-so-it-can-enforce-foreign-substance-rule-162554693.html Not so much a new rule... but a new ball.
  11. Ryan O'Rourke T-shirt Giveaway! http://i.imgur.com/0Eq7AuY.jpg
  12. Does "cash considerations" mean that the Pirates will see how Pat Light does, and then "consider" sending the Twins cash?
  13. How about this proposed rule change MLB is going to test in rookie ball? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/report-mlb-testing-a-new-radical-extra-inning-rule-in-rookie-ball-to-shorten-games/
  14. Have the new owners given up on Park that quickly? Is his wrist more damaged than expected? Are they making room for a Morneau/Napoli signing to follow? Or just really, really hoping he clears waivers to the minors?
  15. Opens up a spot on the 40-man, too, right?
  16. I heard Ryan on Inside Twins on Sunday morning... something with his voice and in his delivery made it sound as if he knew this was coming. He seemed more agitated than normal about the lack of Twins' offense the Friday and Saturday games after the All-Star Break, and was short with Atteberry (or maybe it was Provus) when talking about upcoming trade possibilities. He was really harsh on Sano's defense at third base, almost trying to shift blame to Miguel and deflect any criticism about Ryan signing another DH and keeping Plouffe that necessitated Sano's adventures in right. If Ryan did know ahead of time, I'll say it was classy of the Twins to wait until after the Hall of Fame weekend to do it. Torii Hunter was a fan of Ryan's - even saying he would have possibly resigned in '08 had it been Ryan doing the negotiating, and not Bill Smith. The Twins don't make it a habit of firing management in the middle of a season, so this is a big step.
  17. Eleven runners on base for John Ryan Murphy today. Plenty of chances to get that first Twins' RBI.
  18. It was actually down and inside. Am I the only one who would rather see Dozier hit a couple singles/doubles to right/right-center the next couple of games than a homerun?
  19. If I hear Provus or Gladden say "Swing and a miss," "tapped back to the pitcher" or "popped up in foul territory, [third or first basemen] will have a play" one more time this homestand with runners in scoring position, I am liable to smash my head through whatever solid surface is closest.
  20. Apparently they should have done just this...
  21. It is. It used to be 1 cent off each time a Twins batter strikes out, but SA was losing thousands, so they switched it to hits.
  22. The tornado sirens! Maybe the White Sox will all head to the clubhouse and the Twins will win by forfeit!
  23. Three games, two runs on groundouts. Go offense!
  24. Mauer with a leadoff triple. Over-under on the Twins not scoring this inning...?
