  1. The answer is no. No they can't.
  2. Can the Twins get angry about Buxton getting hit and maybe use it as motivation to do something on offense?
  3. Any word on the "Follow Your Team" feature? Is that going to be an option for Twins fans with MLB.tv? I know it only works if you already have mlb.tv Premium, and you already have cable, but is that suppose to work on streaming services like Roku and not just on phones and such?
  4. White Sox players were apparently going to boycott today's game in support of LaRoche... but manager Robin Ventura talked them out of it. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/14993803/chicago-white-sox-players-considered-boycott-support-adam-laroche
  5. That's why I said "maybe." It's a big, unlikely, maybe.
  6. Maybe Nolasco pitches well this spring. Maybe another team loses a pitcher to injury. Maybe that other team is desperate for a veteran arm. Maybe the Twins can work out a deal for a minor league prospect or two...?
  7. Beginning in 2013 I started going to one Twins' road game a year. (I know; that means I've only done it twice so far.) But the Twins have won both of those games- one in Colorado, and on in Milwaukee. And Eduardo Escobar has homered in both of those games. So... really, I'm just hoping he continues that stretch this June in Chicago.
  8. When he strikes out batters at Target Field, can they play "Zoinks!" throughout the stadium?
  9. Perhaps Pelfrey will encourage the Tigers to trade for Nolasco...
  10. I have two kids who have been coming to Target Field since it opened. It is difficult keeping their attention, especially after taking them to Coors Field (playground in the outfield) and Miller Park (an entire kids area behind homeplate.) We keep them busy by making "bets" on the Mascot Race, making sure we meet TC Bear during the 7th Inning Stretch, and moving around to a lot of different sections (which has been much easier the last couple seasons of awfulness.) But I would love anything for kids in the Homerun Porch area, or the right field plaza. Slides, mascot photo ops with Bullseye and Babe, a batting/pitching cage... Really, anything.
  11. Actually, if the Yankees drop their next 4 games, then there is a possibility for a 4-way tie... Hurray!
  12. Twins have made it a habit to score all their runs in a lump sum in the early innings, with one later in the game. Hopefully that isn't the case today in Game 1... since their early lump was only one.
  13. There was a loss in TB when Sano hit a long... double off the catwalk. Twins lost by one run. Maybe they would have won, maybe not... but that is almost one of those "Act of God" losses that makes me want to get on my knees and ask the Good Lord "Why?!? Art thou not a fan of the team (half) from St. Paul?!?"
  14. According to LENIII Hughes has the stomach bug that kept Plouffe out yesterday. Duensing is unavailable because of the flu as well.
  15. Because Ervin Santana cannot play in the post-season due to the suspension, he can be replaced by anyone on the 40-man, right? It doesn't have to be someone who was on the squad by the cut-off point (end of August I believe.) They treat it like an injured player I assume.
  16. Duensing- because he's a veteran in the bullpen and has "earned" it- will be placed on there. Either Robinson or Santana for PR (although Robinson adds more for late-inning defensive replacement over Santana, but Santana adds the switch-hitter should he need to stay in for an extra-inning's game). Vargas' bat needs to be on the bench, otherwise Nunez is the only one sitting on the pine the opposition's manager might be "scared" of. Plus he's another switch-hitter, somewhat negating Santana's value there. I'll have to go with Duensing, Robinson, and Vargas as the final three, too.
  17. I don't know if this homerun counts as a "high fastball..." http://m.twins.mlb.com/min/video/v372768683/?query=rosario%2Bhomerun (And I was too slow finding it... and others beat me to it... sigh...)
  18. "...And if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned." - Kenny Mayne, BASEketball
  19. MLB Managers and coaches vote (but cannot vote for their own players.) Also- and this part is news to me, and I'm getting this from Wikipedia- "Additionally, a sabermetric component provided by Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) accounts for approximately 25 percent of the vote."
  20. Has anyone ever been to one of these Twins' Career and Internship fairs in the past? Is it worth going for someone not interested in an Internship? I have not been able to find any reviews online from past attendees, and would love to hear from anyone who has attended in the past if it is worth it for someone already entrenched in mid-career status.
  21. I was at the game last night (9/2 - Twins beat White Sox 3-0). It saw Hunter's first hit at Target Field since July. And he wasn't on the DL over that time-frame, and he played at least 2/3 of the games; he just hadn't had a hit in his home park in over a month. (He delivered a week grounder through W.Sox's weak left side of the infield for a single.) But in the eighth inning, he played catch with a little kid in right field. The kid was in the stands, and him and Hunter through the ball back and forth a couple of times. Got the biggest non-Sano-homer applause of the night in that little corner of TF. Of course, that does not win your team games, especially in a pennant race. I can only assume when Hicks returns (he went 4-4 in a rehab game the same night with a homer) we might see the outfield of the future (Rosario, Buxton, Hicks) against righties, and swap Hunter and Rosario against lefties (Rosario had a couple ugly Ks last night against the Sox's southpaw.)
  22. Best we can hope for is that this is equal to the Twins 2001 season. First good season after a long stretch of terrible seasons, but they fell short in the last few months and out of contention. But the core led the Twins to a long stretch of playoff baseball over the next eight seasons. If that happens, then the futility of 2015 will be somewhat forgiven.
  23. It's almost as if the Twins saw how little their front office believes in them to go deep in the post-season after the trade-deadline brought a marginally-better right-handed reliever (who walked the first two men he faced in a Twins' uniform, a stat that has followed him throughout his major-league career) and have lost all motivation to win. Of course, compare that to the team behind the Twins in the Wild Card standing- Toronto- whose front office brought in an ace pitcher, capable bullpen arms, an All-Star shortstop, and the 2014 NL hits leader- and are now looking to take the Wild Card spot, if not the AL East. They're motivated, like the Twins in their can't-lose month of May.
  24. How the Twins' front office wishes they could respond to the Online Community around the Trade Deadline. http://media.giphy.com/media/12TZ6aZdJS0ql2/giphy.gif
  25. I still giggle when I hear the name "Albert Pujols." It sounds like a name the censors working on "Ren and Stimpy" would have rejected for being too-dirty and childish.
