  1. Always tough this time of year when your team is playing mostly their regulars, and 2/3 of their hits come from a borderline utility man.
  2. Pretty close to a regular season batting lineup today...
  3. I hope the mascot is a goat in an ol' fashioned engineer's uniform. Bandana around the neck, overalls, and... whatever the train-drivin' hat is called.
  4. Would the Twins' homeruns today be considered a natural-homerun-cycle? Plouffe hit a solo; then Nunez with the two-run shot; followed by Vargas and a 3-run dinger; and finishing with Escobar's grand slam.
  5. Would Hunter be willing to come back in a Jim Thome-type role (at least, the planned role until Mornuea's concussion) in 2010? Meaning a bat off the bench, occasional DH, and 4th- or 5th-outfielder in 2016? With Rosario and Buxton looking to come up sometime this year in the outfield, and if Arcia and Vargas keep their bats in the lineup, and Hicks can do enough to stay in the majors, where else would you/could you put or use him?
  6. Just think if Vanimal and Pelfrey had both stuck, too... no one in the minors would be coming up! (Although we probably would have only signed Nolasco of Ricky/Hughes/Santana in that scenario...)
  7. For people saying this wasn't the proper forum for Beradino to ask this question: what forum would you prefer? This was a press conference: literally, that means the press is there to ask questions. If not here, then when? During spring training? In the locker-room after a game? This was the absolute best place for this question to be asked. It may not have been a giant elephant in the room, but- seeing as how Hunter is returning to a state that legalized same-sex marriage in the very-near past- it was at least a pint-sized pygmy elephant that someone needed to have the coconuts to ask.
  8. I don't get the "DHing [Hunter] full-time" notion, with the great September showing of Kenny Vargas. Is the plan to start Vargas in AAA, since he had not seen that level before being promoted (out of necessity) late last year? Or would Hunter be willing to move to left field to keep Arcia in his natural position in right? Because- for the future success of this club- both Arcia and Vargas need to get major league at-bats before this team is back in the playoff picture.
  9. It appears the Twins are part of Bruce's no-trade clause anyway... which will make it just a bit more complicated to pull off. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/details-on-jay-bruces-no-trade-clause.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
  10. http://mlb.com/min/fan_forum/uniform_unveiling.jsp?adbid=10152828222449841&adbpl=fb&adbpr=45991614840&partnerId=as_min_20141110_35327217
  11. I think they should go with something similar to the Milwaukee Beers from the Baseketball leagues. Do the classic "M" cap, but with a beer over it. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51ZAItv0PiL.jpg
  12. Sounds like he can whistle... whistling is the same in every language.
  13. Tell me that at some point in the rain delay last night they played "If you like Pino Coladas. Gettin' caught in the rain..."
  14. That's on Gardenhire. No reason Fien should have faced Ortiz when you have two lefties available (or one, if Perkins was sick.) Three of the best pitching performances of the year by Twins' pitchers, and the Twins go 0-3, scoring 2 runs. This series has to be one of the worst comparing pitching vs. offensive in Twins' history.
  15. Last year 96.3 K-TWIN started posting the inning, score, and a few details ("Two On, Two Out") via the car's radio dial screen. This year it hasn't been that detailed, as it usually just says the inning and a reminder of which two teams are playing. I'm not saying that has everything or even anything to do with the lack of score-updating... but maybe it's a tiny piece?
  16. Reports are that the Twins purchased Parmalee's contract from Rochester today, to call him up (with a returning Hicks) to take the spots of Florimon and Hermann.
  17. Two bench players this weekend means one of the former National League pitchers will pinch-hit for Florimon this weekend, right? Correia? Pelfrey before he's DLed or DFAed?
  18. Mauer breaks his 10 groundouts in 10 official at-bats streak by striking out in the first! Way to go, Mauer!

  20. Two. Both were batting practice balls, so I don't know who hit them. One was a Cleveland Indian in '88, and the other was a Blue Jay in '09, the last year at the Dome. We were sitting int he first (open) row in left and someone lined it right at my sister's head. Would have hit her on the top of the head (she was going after something in her bag) and I stuck my hand out. Was unable to palm it, and it hurt like a mother the rest of the game. A lot of cold beers kept that bruise down.
  21. Is there a "Blame Butera" category? Did it replace the "Blame Punto?"
  22. I'll go with the more recent player, Denard Span, and I'll pick the Chicago series in 2008. A three-game series, with the Twins 2.5 games back in late-September. Twins were down by like 6 after Kevin Slowey imploded, and the Twins (mostly Span and Gomez) just kept chipping away with singles, triples, a suicide squeeze by Span. With the Twins down by one in the 8th and Gomez at first, Span tripled past Konerko at first to score Gomez to tie the game. Span's reactiona t third as he came up from his slide was just awesome. It was seeing his emotion and exhiliration of the game plus what had to be frustration that he was sent to Triple-A at the beginning of the season, culminate in him tying such an important game that late in the season. Just a great spot.
