  1. Meh, filling time by babbling. I don't think that is anything new. In terms of the future Twins, they don't know any more than anyone else here. Well, maybe Thyrlos might know who they want to sign
  2. The effects of the SABR guy for Pittsburg Defensive positionnig is something that Molitor has worked on. Where do you supose he gets the information from other than the statistcs department. HBP as evidence of pitching inside. When the Twins miss inside, rather than hitting the batter it goes over the plate. I do not know how the Twins FO operates. Who talks to who about what. When it works some people talk. Others hold their cards closer. Someone in Pittsburg felt the need to brag, hence the article.
  3. The topic has a fatal flaw. It assumes a different manager would have played Pinto. The only time that would be true is spring training
  4. In terms of developing players and the Twins, how much time has Santana and Vargas played. Maybe there is a good reason that Doumit and SUzuki had played over Hermann and Pinto. More talented comes to mind.
  5. Myth 1. Pinto is young. 25 should not be considered young. 9 years in the organization
  6. There will always be negativity but there does not have to be this twisting
  7. The original post had to do with the vitriol from the posters. It had nothing to do with an oh Pinyan about change so were you proving my point about twisting
  8. Because they twist what you say and post. It gets annoying
  9. Sorry to confuse you Levi. Fans will complain on anything less than a perfect season anything less than the World Series victory will still bring out the tvitdiol. Even with a perfect season they would complain about even the most insignificant player on the team That is what some fans do complain that is what I said on my earlier post only more direct
  10. I could really get on the fire Gardenhire bandwagon except all I read for reasons to fire is conjecture and hyperbole. Unless I missed it, at least no one said to fire the manager because you can't fire the players. In terms of the on field product I would think there is a daily evaluation of what happened. The FO should be doing assessments of the players. If there is a difference between what you got on the field and for performance and what you expected out of the player then you have to figure out if it is the player or the manager responsible. That would hold true for the getting more than expected as well as the less than expected. So if the balance is a little less, you get the coach shuffle that was seen a couple of times. When you get a lot less than you expected, then Ryan will fire.
  11. The vitrol will get directed at somone.. If not the field staff the number 12 or 13 man in the bullpen, the thirds catcher, the last guy on the bench. Before the end of the year, there would be something with the field staff. Anything less than 174 wins for the season and the coach is a bum. The last 4 wins would be the most important.
  12. Before TJ I believe Pefrey had an average velocity of 93 on his fastball and he could hit 98. Lousy K rate in the 5 something range. Now if he gains about the 2 mph a certain left hander did when he moved to the bullpen maybe his K rate will double like the lefthander's did. If it worked that way for Pelfrey he could be cheap a 5 mil for the value he would bring as a quality 8th ining guy
  13. At the time Zito signed his ontract h had won a Cy Young and had 3 all star appearances. Not bad for an average player. Mampton had recently finished 2 in the Cy and had an ERA somewhere in the 3's ndtrending down
  14. The entertainment business is about making monet. Did attendance go up in 1986 because Andy Mcphail was a new GM? The don't bother to sell a jersey with the GM's name on it. (I don't recall seeing a XXXXL Gardenhire, Anderson, Vavre, or other coackes name on a jersey, either) Changing management by fan's whims makes about as much sense as signing a catcher to an 8 year contract because they are a fan favorite.
  15. Arizona is in control of their destiny as they have 3 games each with Colorado and the Twins
  16. As the games were in Chicago, wouldn't that be the White Sox in control?
  17. I haven't looked at the recent nubers but historically the argument looked to me to be which mediocre player should be out there. I would rather they find a different player. In general I think the Twins try to find complete players rather than go for a platoon situation. I am sure someone out there can think of someone they should have kept. As there are more RH pitchers out there a RH batter only is a luxury, like a third catcher is. Players like Arcia need all the AB they can get to develop. There will come a point that a player should be platooned, but I don't think early in their career should be it.
  18. By WAR the staff is ithe middle of the pack. By the defense independent metrics the Twins are not the worse. Intrestingly, thy are not that far behind KC
  19. If you believe BABIP being random, a regression to the mean of the Twins BABIP coupled with the pitchers no longer here being the poor SO pitchers should significantly decrease the runs allowed dramatically.Of course the rest of the problems will be solved by trading Duensing for a starting LF. Or was that any 2 of Duensing, Swarzak and Pressly for a LF
  20. TEOLAWKI. Bernier was in a game.
  21. Polanco isn't going to Florida
  22. The statement made was Plouffe is an average at 3b. To trade him the question asked was what team on the cusp of being good has a horrible 3baseman? Plenty of other people seemed to understand that meant as a trade partner you would need to find a team with a horrible 3baseman. Added to that was also a team that did not have a prospect thus limiting trading partners to very few teams.
  23. Is it unreasonable to think that the baseball analysts on the team see something to like in Thompson so check it out. That or the same analysts figure next Junes draft s 4 players deep and ....i
  24. I do not get the bromance He had a below league average K/9, K% and way below K%-BB%. A few 5 inning shutouts, more pounded outs
