  1. What is your proof that the Pohlads are reluctant owners?
  2. You demand proof of others yet have no proof what the plan is or is not. Can't argue with that.
  3. Parmelee is no longer considered a rookie as he had more than 130 AB. As many of the names were on the AA squad last year it would be hard to predict. At the end of the year if neither Hicks, Arcia nor Benson have an almost full season in then they had the biggest impact by not being ready yet. If one of them plays the whole season after May, then it would be one of them.
  4. So when someone you don't like says something you knee jerk and rip. It was just a list of people in the Twinssystem. It had been speculated here that Ryan wanted Blackburn for this year to have a chance to win a job. The Saunders talk didn't surface until Blackburn's injury. It wasn't totally out of reason to have a little hope.
  5. I believe what I read was if by some miracle Blackburn came back and pitched very well what would the Twins do. Judging by your comments, I would have to say you very well know what a troll is when you look in the mirror. Do you own the site to be allowed such jerk behavior? Dakota wasn't allowed this kind of behavior.
  6. How much "dis cuss sion" would have been generated by proposing Arcia and other prospects for Bogaerts?
  7. I guess one could expect Roberts to do well because that is what he has done thusfar at every level. Is it better to doubt or to have a positive outlook?
  8. First off you can never have too many good shortstops and 3b in your system. Considering what a black hole those positions have been for the Twins, it is indeed a wise idea to develop as many as you can. Third base prospects as well as shortstop prospects tend to have more value than corner outfielders. It takes a while to learn and adjust at every level. You hope the athleticism of the individual will carry them. I would be hard pressed to say a top flight prospect the Twins have held back or was blocked. A C prospects maybe has been blocked here or there. Not trying to get into an argument here either, nor be called an apologist either. With their draft pick the Twins will take who they feel is the best potential player available. It all works out eventually.
  9. I have seen enough of your posts to believe you might actually be serious.
  10. Other than exist, what did Chris Herrmann do that was exactly noteworthy in a year and a half in AA? Being the best catching prospect in the Twins organization is being Miss Congeniality in a beauty pagent.
  11. Floriman has to be happy that Butera is on the team. If not for Butera, Pedro's interpreter would have to lie about all of the writing about his offensive production on this website. If it was Floriman, it would be whover plays 2b, 3b, or currently failing in the OF. It is not the lack of spending that caused this situation, it was the years of poor drafts and worse trades.
  12. I would be very frightened of a few of the members with a few beers in them.
  13. I I think everyone would be very happy if Hicks qualified as a Super 2. That would mean he was way to good in spring training to be sent down, and continued to play well.
  14. I did not even mention a second Correia. Rather, the question asked of Nick is what quality of pitcher would be considered a tangible asset? Psuedobar talked of diminishing return for adding assets. I recall the Twin Cities to be a front running, bandwagon kind of place. Not you when it comes to the Twins, but by attendance figures there are others. Psuedo may unfortunately be right. Without a front running team, there may not be the interest to draw the revenue from the stadium.
  15. Adding a quality arm would result in tangible competitivess. The debate may be what is the lowest threshold for a quality arm. Marcum, yes. Lohse, not for a draft pick. Blanton? Jurrgens? Slowey? At this point the options get thin.
  16. If it good to spend money to spend money then there should be no complaints in the signing of Kevin Correia. They spent money to spend money. They should spend more BTW. The available talent pool is getting small.
  17. One still has to wonder with Blackburn. After the bone chips were removed in 2010 he never seemed quite like the same pitcher. For a pitcher that relied on command than overpowering pitches, the loss of command surely affected the outcome.
  18. You are a good hearted person. Judging by the vitrol I have read in many of the threads there is no need for a thick skin to post. If you read what others post on what you write there is a need for thick skin. Anonymity has allowed people's inner butt head to show. If one disagrees with a group viewpoint hackels are raised and let the denigration begin.
  19. I thought every thread here was dedicated to putting out untenable, unrealistic ideas. If not that then pissing and moaning. No need for facts as all are experts here. The baseball season will start, then there will be some semblance of a discussion of prospects. With, of course, some pissing and moaning. That you complain of people being pissy is rather pot like of you.
  20. A kernal of truth in a joke.
  21. A low A ball C level prospect would in 4 years become an Anthony Swarzak. Not an unreasonable proposal, nor impossible. Swarzak does have a 91-93 MPH fastball
  22. Condescending attiudes towards those a writer disagrees with run rampant through this thread. A difference of opinion is met with scathng remarks. No side in this so called debate is imune. Your tone is not forgiving to those who think differently than you
  23. Pitch F/X when I have looked at it on fangraphs is not so much about a statistics as much as it looking at location,or speed of pitch. That is a much more usefull thing to know than FIP as it would show you the quality of pitches thrown.
  24. The Twins had three pitchers with WAR above 3 in 2009. They spent money to sign Blackburn and Baker to decent contracts not bargains nor excessive. Up to that point by WAR Blackburn had pitched well. Pavano was signed to a one year contract after. That contract was the going rate for a similar WAR pitcher not names Lackey. He had a WAR of three the next yearand signed a two year contract which compared to similar WAR pitcher was a bargain contract. Yes the Twins love a bargain, but they went out and spent the money also. That they got burned in the end paying for injured and ineffective pitchers would explain their reluctance to give out the length of contracts Dempster and Jackson wanted. Cautious would be a better term than cheap. Based on Ryan's hisory in trades I would say there is a 50% chance he could walk out with a Ferrari in a trade giving up a Buick. Unfortunately there is a 50% chance the trade ends up a Fiat Punto Fiat punto | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
