  1. Here we go again with the nonsense of best BP. There was only 2 BP arms in last years BP that showed up. That would be Jax and Sands. What makes anyone think this year will be different. Duran started the season on IL and Stewart made his way there. And can't forget the trade with the Mariners that brought 2 arms that spent the season on the IL. Then mixing in Varland and Alcala and who can forget Dobnak. How about we make these judgments closer to Memorial Day.
  2. First off to say this is the best roster in the Central is a reach. Detroit and KC are equal to if not better. Both of those rosters know who is playing where while this roster is still who is on 1st and 2nd and don't forget about 3rd. With the ownership up in the air 25 is going to be a long season. With that going on the FO and manager will be under the microscope. The only money spent is going to be fans having to pay higher ticket prices.
  3. Why is it Jeffers can't catch 125 games of 162? The trade that needs to be made is the 32+year old Vasquez. They have 3 catchers in AAA now and it should be time for one of them to be ready. The backup could play in 37 games and replace Jeffers in games that are won or lost early. We all know Rocco is a platooning manager. The Polhad's have given the mandate to trim payroll that went up yesterday.
  4. The only change that will be made is raising the ticket prices. All the fans attending the games will see a 3rd or 4th place team in the central. They still have the same FO and manager who loves platooning players on a whim.
  5. The team is in total disarray as it stands. It's a Laural and Hardy joke, who's on 1st and what's on 2nd and how about 3rd. Everyone is hoping for new ownership, I don't see them lining up to buy. The FO got pitching turned around but failed elsewhere. Rocco is a bad situational manager and this team will finish in 3rd place at best in 25.
  6. Let's see if I have this right Jax wants to start and let's trade Duran. Now we have a really weak BP. They have 3 injury prone RH and a LH pitcher who has not shown he can get hitters out consistently. I think the FO has been told cut payroll by 10 to 20 million not a couple million. They also don't want to hurt the team to much in regard to getting a buyer. The Polhad's are going make money selling the team, why would they weaken it and have to take less.
  7. Really this is laughable to talk about how hard a ball gets hit. In many of the cases they went for outs. You get to watch the runner thrown out by yards not inches. Doesn't matter much if the ball is hit 20 mph or 100 mph it can be a hit if in the right place. The same with the nonsense of a homerun going 450 ft when the fence is 375 ft. If the ball goes 380 ft it's still a homerun. The only thing that matters is the score.
  8. Doesn't matter what players name you post about, players want to know what position they play. Coming out of ST who's on 1st,2nd and 3rd. You can't have good defense rotating players all over the infield. Now that Santana is gone the only position filled is SS and hopefully Correa can stay on the field. You also have issues in the OF as well hoping that Buxton will be there and who will play the corners. How many different players have they run out to LF since Rosario left. Everyone says Wallner in RF because of his arm but can he catch the ball. Target Field is not a normal RF and is tricky to play with the overhang. It is pretty obvious the ownership is not going to invest in a team they want to sell. Look for a long season if they have injury issues and Rocco doesn't stop playing checkers with the bench.
  9. The team as it stands is a 4th place team in the central. They open ST with question marks at 1st,2nd,3rd and corner OF positions. But looking at who the manager is this what he wants. He wants to platoon players and of course give Buxton and Correa games off. Also ownership has no interest in adding payroll while trying to sell. Look for a long season of bad baseball.
  10. If the Polhad's are interested in selling the team at this time, why trade a fan favorite. You are weaking the value and the rotation. You would be much smarter to cut payroll trading Paddock and Vasquez. With Paddock who is now a BP arm and Vasquez a over 30 year old catcher who plays 80 games. To sell for the most you have to put a competitive team together. Does anyone really believe the Polhad's are looking to sell for a rock bottom price.
  11. Let's trade the only everyday player the team has on a injury prone roster. How about moving on from Paddock and Vasquez or even Varland who has not shown he can start. He is now behind SWR and Festa and may start the season in St Paul because the BP needs a LH pitcher. Both Martin and Lee are not as viable as Castro at this time.
  12. Just what team are you all talking about, not the Twins with Rocco as manager. His lineup moves are game to game and no one knows who's playing 2nd or 3rd. As of now who's on 1st as well, hopefully Correa will play 120+or SS will be a problem as well. You can't have good defense with a rotating infield. And saying it is a different game now is nonsense, yes the pitcher and hitter are on the the clock. But it's still pitch the ball hit the ball catch the ball throw the ball. Last year the only Gold Glove was Santana at 1st for good reason his everyday play.
  13. Who believes that buyers are lining up to buy the team. This team has a bad TV deal and core players that can't stay healthy. They also don't know what position players are playing one day to the next. It is the comedy act of who's on first. You only know your CF is Buxton if healthy and the catcher is Jeffers or Vasquez. Its time for to stabilize the positions and if not trade for players who can.
  14. If the new coaches teach homerun like the last staff look for another long year. The few games that they played baseball they looked good, but when they swung for the fences not so much.
  15. This team needs OF help not more IF help. They already know Buxton will miss time. For how many years have they needed a RH bat that isn't named Margot. The biggest problem in the IF is cleaning up the fielding. The one thing that would help there is stop all the rotating players. It may also be a problem at 1st base with Santana not being there. This team should maybe look at Lewis in LF as that would fix the RH bat and keep him in the lineup.
  16. Basically the same team that finished short of the playoffs. It is all about the health of the core players who can't seem to stay healthy. Just how many BP arms will be ready to pitch on opening day and still pitching in September.
  17. Like a lot of the team's players he needs to stay healthy. The team can't have core players missing 50 or more games. When you have a limited payroll and have to reach down to AA to bring a player up its a problem. The last two seasons Ryan has missed time with injuries. This last season being a arm that hopefully doesn't happen again this year.
  18. This has to be the most laughable things that this organization has ever done. Let's put one of the people who signed Donaldson,Correa and Buxton to over priced contracts who spend about half the season on IL.Looking ahead to 2025 doesn't look good for the life long fan.
  19. Payroll,Payroll,Payroll he is payroll friendly why trade the steadfast BP arm they have. For him to be a SP he would have to become a different pitcher. His fastball velocity would be down in order to throw more pitches. He is a solid one inning pitcher who can pitch two days in a row. Don't weaken a BP that has question marks.
  20. For those who say the rotation is built thru the draft is out of touch. The only SP in the rotation coming out of the draft is Ober. Lopez for Arraez Ryan for Cruz SWR for Berrios Paddack for Rogers And bringing Varland up in this conversation, how can anyone think he can ever figure out how to go beyond 3 innings. Festa is the only pitcher that is maybe ready for #5. Zebby needs to be in St.Paul to start the season. If I'm missing someone then why didn't they come up ahead of SWR or Festa and or Zebby.
  21. Don't see a offer for him until teams see him pitch in ST. You can't expect a team to take his contract without seeing if he can take a mound and show something. This situation is and has been a problem with Falvey trying to build pitching with tired, weak arm and shoulder pitchers. They saw it with the BP as well, just look at Stewart who couldn't even get out of ST. They need to do better at drafting and develop pitching like Cleveland does.
  22. Maybe some other team and that's a big Maybe. Both the New York teams have SS. The Yankees have Volpe who is 23 yrs old and plays every day. The Mets said no to a ankle, why would they say yes to a ankle and 2 bad feet. And they are not slapping Lindor in the face after the post season he had.
  23. Why are we talking about this when the FO and manager like daily lineup changes. The only positions that had minimal change was 1B and catcher. Yes injuries had something to do with it. But when you look at LF since Rosario left there has been more than 25 different players. Hopefully when someone comes in and buys the team the first thing they do is dismiss Falvey and Rocco. To get improved defense players need to have a position they play regularly.
  24. Too many 3-2 counts and position players playing out of position didn't help. Not all players want to play like a utility player. Pitchers pitch count climb when you go 3-2 again and again and then throw a meatball. How about trying to pitch instead of being a thrower. Throwing 100 miles per hour doesn't get it done when you throw it down the middle.
