    STARTER should be the Priority. Starter displaces a current starter and that guy moves to the PEN. Byron Buxton hasn’t hit a Home Run since June 24………he has 3 RBI since June 26th. He’s played 15 games since June 22 with another 9 to be missed on this road trip. OFFENSE, even with keeping Jeffers & Larnach, should be addressed in a Big way. I best the drum daily for Luis Arraez, a stabilizer in the middle of the line-up. Covers 2B & Clemens plays corner OF daily. Larnach & Keaschall to DH …….. Bell/Wallner/prospect for somebody that can pitch - this year or in the future.

    My slant: Health experts - trainers - pitching coaches - players - Manager are all on the same page….,…,backward logic to move him from Rotation to minimize innings and then abuse him by using him from PEN w/o proper rest. Arguing for more innings as a starter for a guy that’s bumping up on innings limits……I don’t get it …….. using him 2 times every 6-7 days for 8 weeks compiles (2.5 innings x 8 max) 20 more innings. Once per week as a starter is (8 x 4 1/3 per start probable minimum) 34 2/3 more innings.

    IF Tigers punt, maybe consider Casey Mize as a rental…….Matthews to PEN? Tough to send prospects to division competitor but there may be something there with some of Twins youth?

    Tier One: Morris - Gomez Tier Two: Minter - Rojas Tier Three: Funderburk - Rogers - Anderson Tier Four: Nance - Adams ……. I see Adams getting Optioned …….. may be Funderburk?? ADD a starter and put Matthews in Tier Two! Short stints and possibly waaay off but Anderson looks pretty effective so far! Nance was traded for so he’s probably not going anywhere……”organization likes him”

    I know there are a lot of fish in the sea but who is the middle of the order guy that’s available, AND hits over .240? We have Matt Wallner at AAA - don’t want that type anywhere near the roster.

    I know nearly everyone will disagree but I don’t see Luis as a top of order guy. I’d slot him behind Buxton in the 3 hole or behind Lewis, hitting 5th or 6th. ………he FITS the “hit with RISP” profile the Twins have been using all year. He’s great protection for free swingers with some pop. He’s slow and can be bat to ball clutch with guys in base …….move him back where he can help with the guy in front of him. No reason to get outbid - it’s a choice. He solidifies the offense & 2B, allowing Clemens to play corner OF routinely.

    2 batters to close an inning - 1 inning a couple other days during a week …….., that’s like throwing your normal between starts activity as a starter ………. 2-3 innings per week has to be better than 5-6 innings. Gotta be a lot sharper after 1st time through line-up as a starter ……. his stuff plays well facing 3-4 guys per outing……… if rested. he could go 2 innings plus every 4-6 days as another option.

    To me, it’s a waste of time because if he’s available other Teams will go much harder than the Twins to land him.

    Nice start to the weekend - hopefully, a bit more activity by end of day Monday! Minter’s experience should help him get through the drop in his stuff. He’s walked 2 guys in 23 innings this season. With the workload he’s had, he may only throw twice per week ………. 🤞. Gotta like the 1.00 WHIP!! Who does he displace? Adams is up & down with results - hit hard, even when getting outs ……. I’m not thrilled with Nance but “they traded for him” so there’s belief through organization. To me, Anderson has looked really good - not sure what his achilles might be? Asking for 1 more arm with some durability. A starter that could push Matthews to the PEN would be sweet. Seattle dropped to 4 games under .500 last night - if TWINS can get one Friday night, Mariners may be more open to the Hancock conversation? They are only 3.5 back in the West, so doubtful they will punt.

    The other young Catcher (Bassalo?) is hurt & on IL ……….as a second reason to get an experienced Catcher. Rutschman has been mentioned on the MLB Network in trade buzz.

    Potentially can take a prospect in a Jeffers trade and flip them with Twin’s assets for the real MLB ready guy Team wants. I like trading Caratini instead - he’s $10M next year with his ‘28 buyout included. He’s got experience - he’s a decent offensive player & switch hitter - can play some 1B in addition to catching. He’s has another year under contract……. Vic with a prospect(s) should yield a decent reliever. Keep Jeffers and wow the Giants to acquire Arraez……offense, …… “check.” Btw, Jeffers hung in the dugout after essentially everyone else, taking it ALL IN ……. stark realization that might be his last home game at Target.

    If Team wants to try & acquire Hancock they need to win 2 of 3 this weekend & take some wind out of the Mariner’s sails…….step on their throat as they say. Acquiring Hancock could displace Prielipp (or Matthews) into the bullpen…………maybe Robby Ray for Roden & Mendez & a young arm?? Matthews or Prielipp - Rojas - Funderburk - Rogers - Anderson - Morris - Gomez - Nance Nance & Adams need to be displaced IMO, I think organization likes Nance better than Anderson. Their low performer is Luis Castillo but he is too expensive to trade and not effective enough this year to get much interest. ………was watching tonight’s game here in Cincinnati………do I dare say Emilio Pagan?? It’s kind of like saying Lord V’s name in Harry Potter…….don’t dare do it😂 ….. experienced - throws hard - swing & miss stuff.😉 Cincinnati is out of it and they typically like shedding salary ……… Tito Francona might veto? He’s got a $10M player option for ‘27 & still owed $3.3M for remainder of ‘26. “The Devil you know……”

    .209 - .225 - .156 - .224 - .207 ……. those are five years of Buxton’s averages for entire seasons …….. he’s struck out over 100 times 5 different years - 99 one year - if he hadn’t missed so many games this year, he’d be over 100 already in July. Proof that Byron has struggled at times. He too is a great talent - more so than Lewis. He still struggles often with plate discipline on pitches down and away. Everyone has a weakness. My comment wasn’t critical of Buxton as a player……. it was a comparison to Lewis's issues with swinging at bad pitches down and away……… just like Buxton has done for stretches every year over his 12 years in the Bigs. Lewis needs to improve that part of his game and if he can/does he’ll be a big contributor.

    Larnach is expendable?? Wallner is at AAA - Roden is barely hanging on to a roster spot - Kreidler has stuck do to an absolute NEED at SS! Lewis is finally healthy and he’s learning to deal with having to play every day and how to handle adversity. He’s still got solid upside. Larnach is the 2nd best hitter on the Club ….., Jeffers missed 60 games & Buxton misses all the time …. estimating he’s missed 35 games. Those are the other two guys Larnach would be compared to this year. Not sure what he needs to do to get people here at TD off his back.

    Because he’s got talent and shows it still, in flashes - FIRST year he’s been healthy in about 8 years total. He absolutely sucked prior to being sent down - certainly respectable since his return. Solid defense at all 3 positions. Varland was terrible, to non- Minnesotans, until he was 27. Almost washed out at 26. He has guts and worked. Clemens - Lee - Keaschall all could have been sent down or DFA’d earlier in the year…… they kept getting playing time. Lewis hitting .165 through the first 9-10 weeks of the year isn’t going to be overcome in 6-7 weeks. Nobody got a hit today - he had a hit last night - he won the game in 9th the day before. His plate discipline is terrible too often, but I’ve been watching Buxton with the same issues for 10 years.

    Why are you hung up on runs scored? Bell doesn’t play defense - there’s talk in baseball about Arraez playing GG defense in ‘26. That said, a guy can’t score without guys that hit behind him - Bell and mostly others on Twins have scored a bunch because they are close to Top of Baseball in BA with RISP. Hence they lead or did lead the A.L. in runs…….. when guys hit with RISP the guys in front of them are scoring runs - not happening in SF. That’s why guys are getting moved from Giants for prospects instead of getting zero value when they walk. Btw, what I wrote was he was valued enough to trade for our staff ace. I wrote the Marlins switched GM’s after they signed Luis & he won Batting Title again ….. they were once again in frugal mode. Preller was/is spending wildly in San Diego and they had to cut costs some. Dylan Cease doesn’t pitch for them anymore because of this $$ issue in San Diego.

    I’d take him 8 days per week. He can’t score if the guys behind him can’t hit. Arraez has improved his defense at 2B greatly. Having a guy that hits .330 behind Buxton gets Buxton better pitches to hit. He should hit 3rd or 5th, behind Lewis and not at the Top of the line-up. Twins traded him for Lopez. Miami traded him because they don’t spend money & new GM. San Diego let him go because he declined just a bit but principally because they spend too much money and didn’t want to pay him with Tatis - Machado - Bogarts on the payroll. The Giants want to trade him because they suck as a whole and he’ll be a free agent.

    Lewis is just fine ……. reason Caratini & Jackson played 1B wasn’t a negative on Lewis, it was to get more RH bats in the line-up v. LH pitching. He’s doing everything they need him to do. Huge hit Tuesday - another hit last night - nobody got hits today……. Long-term, I really like Royce at 1B pretty much every day. Culpepper & Houston up the middle for years with Lee at the other corner.

    IMO, don’t expect Minnesotans to concur, just hearing Wallner’s name makes me nauseous. Putting him on the active roster, again to me, would be like hanging an anvil around the Team’s neck. I’ve been a proponent to trade Bell & Caratini & Wallner & prospects to create some space and bring back some relief help. …….. I think they may need to keep this position group together and, as I stated a couple times per day, they need to put a package together for Luis Arraez…….gotta be able to make it happen! Solid at 2B & perfect protection for a guy like Lewis or even slotting behind Buxton could be beneficial. REALLY Need an offensive shot in the arm!!

    Trade Bell - Caratini - Wallner - prospects for a reliever. Larnach is DH 75% & Keaschall or Buxton v. LH pitching. Gotta trade for a bat! To me, Team needs to fight through competition and get Arraez from Giants. Jeffers & Larnach remain on the roster. Note: Twins paid Vazquez $10M/year for 3 years ……… Caratini costs $10M next year including his buyout. Take Caratini’s ‘27 cost & add Jeffer’s salary and pay Jeffers the total of $16M, next year and for 2 more years. Youth arrives in ‘28 and very little cost with the young, developing depth guy. Worth a shot!

    Is Caratini worth $10M next year is the question to me? I don’t see it - I trade him with all his “flexibility” as the headline in discussions, along with Team control.

    No Jeffers & no Caratini in ‘27…….. don’t see the big deal. I’ve thought for a few weeks that Caratini’s flexibility on defense (+1B) and his switch hitting - with control for next year - makes him a Catcher that could bring back as much or more than the upcoming Free Agent, Jeffers. Twins can figure out how to sign or trade for a Catcher before the start of next season - just don’t see this as a problem, particularly after realizing they’ll owe Caratini $10M for 1 year. Trade Caratini & Bell with prospects for at least a single reliever and make a big play for Arraez. Solidifies line-up and 2B, while allowing Clemens to play Corner Outfield with Larnach and Keaschall/Buxton platooning at DH……. Arraez will off-set some of the sting with moving a Catcher & Bell in the Clubhouse as well.

    Most embarrassing, right behind the A.L. West. I can’t stand watching Lee for all the reasons you site - his BA with RISP is the only reason I give him the slightest respect. He may slide?He started out like an obvious AAA demotion and since has been slightly above average as a rule …….. guessing, 12-13 weeks. Take a look at the OPS+ for The Guardians roster and tell me The Twins have no chance. There’s a difference between World Series competitive v. being competitive for “a run in the A.L.”. My hope is they swallow the risk on Jeffers and trade Caratini w/prospect(s) for a reliever. I’d try hard to put a package together to Giants for Arraez. Adding him at 2B along with a reliever, I think they have a shot to make playoffs & advance.

    The Nats are in the mix in the N.L. Wildcard. They just traded a guy with 17 HRs and is controllable for a starting pitcher. They aren’t trading Griffin at the $$ rate he’s making…..the cost is a non-issue. They have him to help them win NOW.
