Twins 3, Angels 4: Too Little, Too Late
JD-TWINS replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Very effective LH pitcher v. Clemens from left side - SQUEEZE for sure was my thought. If he gets it down, worst case we have guys on 3rd & 1st after an out at home……. best chance to score with Clemens in that situation.- 24 replies

Buxton - Martin - Keaschall - Gonzalez ……. maybe Kreidler if Culpepper is up in 6 weeks…… 70-75% of pitchers are RH. I do not see a problem with having too many LH batting Outfileders. Emma hasn’t played 75 games in a summer for 4 summers or more (at least it seems that way!) Roden - Jenkins & then Larnach as future DH platoon. To me, Wallner does not register as a Twin’s player any longer. Hope I’m wrong but Kody Clemens - Luke Keaschall - Allen Roden are ALL now (or have been) ahead of Matt. Trades are legal - don’t have to trade the oldest guys first.

So, the article points out that the two Starters traded were with one year of control left and moved in the off-season. The in-season, deadline trades were for two front line closers. I realize the details are just to show a “Brewer strategy” BUT I wait until after the season to consider trading Joe as there will be more stability in negotiations and potentially, more interested Teams.

Jeff Passan Identifies Two Potential Twins Trade Targets
JD-TWINS replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
As others pointed out, the Nationals probably won’t be in PUNT mode in 3 weeks, so best pitcher stays with them through season. IMO, even if they stagnate the rest of July, they have enough solid young hitters to hang on to Wildcard as the goal. If they buy a key piece they have a good chance, even in a competitive NL. After watching the Twins light up Gausman 3-4 times over the last 3 years, he doesn’t move the needle for me. Not with his contract. …… he throws harder than Ober but doesn’t really get guys out at any better rate. His WHIP & low walk rate are good so the hits must be damaging to have a 4.3 ERA. -
Jeff Passan Identifies Two Potential Twins Trade Targets
JD-TWINS replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I looked up Foster Griffin …,, he signed a “one year, $5.5M, straight forward contract” Dec. ‘25 & is a UFA after this year ……….no “MLB control” left -
& then there’s Kody Funderburk’s exploits every other time he pitches he walks a couple guys.

Trading Ryan Jeffers Would Be the Wrong Move for the Twins
JD-TWINS replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I agree with 90% ……..if he signs by July 25 or so, gotta trade Caratini to afford Jeffers going forward. Caratini also gets back in trade just as much or more than Jeffers with recent play & the added year of control. -
Trading Ryan Jeffers Would Be the Wrong Move for the Twins
JD-TWINS replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Sorry if seems confrontational - I don’t understand? The question or thought here is does it make sense to trade or keep Jeffers - I think? Offseason & whether there’s a ‘27 season are questions that can’t be answered by August 3rd. I’d love to keep Jeffers personally. I suggested here that the Team take Caratini’s $7M and throw in another $2-3M while committing Jeffers current salary to the total…….. somewhere between $13.5 - $15.5M. …… offer needs to be made and decided upon by July 25 or so. Cannot let Jackson go via DFA. He’s shown real promise as a #2 Catcher. No options. Caratini’s value is at a peak & undeniable as of July 9……. if Jeffers extended they could get decent value for a guy playing well, switch hitter, and under control for another season. I just don’t see Jeffers signing, right? …… so, he has to be traded. Team has played well for 60 games with the current tandem. My assumption is Jeffers gets activated and takes Fedko’s spot on Roster until a deal can be made for one of the Catchers? It sucks to see a guy coming into his own at the plate and then not being able to retain him. Gotta get some impact value back for Jeffers - whether it’s this year, or next year, can’t move him for some guy in A ball or even AA, in my opinion. Some team with needs will fold to help win now and take a shot at extending him…..,.Zoll can make a deal that is at least “OK”. Too bad it got to this point - in fairness to FO, Jeffers isn’t a defensive star and his bat always had potential & in his walk year he’s showing the potential. Also, tough on the FO they can’t spend any $$. -
Thursday, Noon Central - just saw on MLB Network, Prielipp got put on IL for “elbow inflammation” ………organization can’t lie that much……….so, 10 minutes later it was due to a “blister”. Either way, creative way to keep the current PEN guys & get Rojas on 26-man for a ninth reliever over the last 4 games before the Break. Prielipp starts 2 games (one last night), at most, from June 28 to August 1st……rest up and get that blister healed. Paredes can continue to start after the Break in the 5th spot with Rojas used as needed from the PEN. Makes great sense for next 3 weeks!!

No problem with making changes - his stuff isn’t that bad at all - command & guts seem to be the issues. Just gotta have a plan before DFAing………,Paredes is obviously in the PEN …… I would prefer Rojas as well v. one of the current 8…….apparently Raya is on IL. Rojas - Paredes - Morris - Rogers - Gomez - Funderburk - Go🤞 - Adams or Orze ……..”thin” in a couple spots!!

Buxton has started 75 of 93 games ….., probably an expected or even hopeful amount. Jeffers has started 36 of 93 games. Brooks Lee used to play SS & Luke Keaschall used to play 2B. Wallner & Lewis sent down…..Outman on Roster. Lopez out for the year at start of Spring Training. Ober - Festa - Abel all down for significant stretches. Close to worst bullpen in baseball. FO can’t anticipate the level of injuries to starters ……… nobody’s fault. How are the Twins a game or two out of 1st place in the Division??? ……..guys have performed both at plate & on mound in clutch situations..,,,,,,,,hope they keep it rolling!

Mgr. doesn’t have infinite choices out of the Twin’s PEN. Guys are on roster to pitch - like a professional - to their expected abilities. Blaming the manager is tough to get behind ….. match-ups and availability all play into Mgr. decisions. Players play.

If Roden gets 1 more hit over next 4 games, seems Fedko will be a lock to be sent down after the break as Buxton returns.

Week in Review: Battling the Big Dawgs
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Is Emma viable? I thought he was out at least through July……..& then returning from a thumb injury after 8 weeks off…….doesn’t seem viable? If not trying to Win, trading Bell and DHing Larnach makes a bunch of sense. ……… Keaschall is a DH option v. LH pitching as well.- 84 replies

Week in Review: Battling the Big Dawgs
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Emma can’t play to my knowledge…….hurt, nearly always. ……… I read this morning that Roden is ready…….anybody that gives Team a better chance than Fedko is good with me. 40 man is a detail, Gray being demoted would free 40 man space as he would be a DFA to my knowledge……….my comments were respectful of Jenkins stage of development or should have been….”if he & the organization think he’s ready” is my thought. Again, anybody else that has potential to be helpful.- 84 replies

Week in Review: Battling the Big Dawgs
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So Bell isn’t even contributing to winning games? You’re delusional. He had a pretty good April - a horrid May - has been in June and a big part of the Team’s RISP batting average…….he’s got 60 RBI. His WAR value was -.8 a month ago & now it’s .6 ……..that’s a turnaround! Gotta decide if Team wants to Win or just look at young guys in a losing environment.- 84 replies

Week in Review: Battling the Big Dawgs
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree - chemistry, biggest reason (along with Kreider needing to play CF) Gray still gets starts and AB’s. For me, Aricia for Gray & Jenkins for Fedko, right after the break - maybe for the Angels series?- 84 replies

Week in Review: Battling the Big Dawgs
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
“……with potentially high impact prospects….” The #1 picks are finally contributing …… Lee - Lewis - Larnach - Martin (from Jays)……. Jenkins - Culpepper - Houston are all guys that were #1’s and should contribute later in ‘26 or in ‘27. IMO, cannot be continually flipping guys to “potentially” have a bright future. Don’t see much choice but to flip Jeffers. Could couple his $$ & add the $7M to Caratini, and add $3-$4M to try and extend Jeffers and trade Caratini at absolute Max. Value. Can’t waive Jackson……..somebody that’s a Catcher gets traded. Larnach is in his prime ($4.5M) - Clemens couldn’t be any higher value making the minimum ……extend him with modest $$ for 2 more years……he has obvious value with his flexibility on D. Ryan’s a judgement call based on whether the Team is trying to be “competitive”. His trade in off-season with right partner, is still a good option.- 84 replies

Kreidler played well in CF & contributed offensively……..you are obviously a proponent of Fedko……..that’s a tough guy to back. Fedko should be displaced, after the break.

Questioning the strategy with a guy that’s just returned from being banged up is valid. The only reason he’s not “a Superstar” throughout baseball, with his talent, is due to a career filled with injuries & missed time. The wording the guy used to comment was harsh ………. sometimes, however, staying healthy & taking actions that promote staying healthy are the absolute right thing to do. The best ability is availability, as they say. Byron (MikeTrout as well) is the poster child for this premise. btw, I was hoping he’d run on 3-2 to avoid double play & get into scoring position……..but probably not smart

IF Jenkins thinks he’s ready per coaching staff in St Paul, he should be moved up ASAP in July. He cannot underperform relative to Fedko. That experiment has run its course for now. Arcia for Gray has to be a consideration - the defense can’t be a step back & Gray seems to have exhausted any confidence he was riding at the plate. Jenkins & Arcia for Fedko & Gray seems fairly obvious. Again, if coaches think Jenkins has the self belief - he’s 21.

He’s hit 4 HR in the last week (that’s great!) doesn’t mean he’s an All-star. He hit 3 in 3 days to get his OPS to .811. ……..I like the 35 XBH!! …… projects to 60 XBH for the year - that would be sweet. BA .248 ……… OBP .311 Luke Keaschall’s OBP is near .340 as a comparison.

1 guy ……….. that’s correct. Who else is an All-star? ………… Jeffers had a great shot prior to injury. Can’t imagine who else? Larnach is second highest performer - offensively but not really All-star. material.
