  1. Facing 3 lefties in a row later this week. Roster changes to allow only 13 pitchers in a week. I think Kirilloff will be called up on Sunday.
  2. Sawyer Gipson-Long gets the call.... up to Wichita.
  3. Some new hitters need to step up for the minor league teams. Take Lewis away from the Saints and they go on a big losing streak. Call Steer up and move Kirilloff down and they are hitting like crazy. Take Steer away from the Wind Surge and they can't score much of anything. Time for Austin Martin to step up for them. Emmanuel Rodriguez gets hurt for the Mighty Mussels and suddenly they are having problems scoring much. One great hitter seems to make the whole lineup better.
  4. Gameday said "injury" and Balazovic was immediately taken out. Any update on this?
  5. I think most disagree with this - I think Rocco (and I believe this is a combined Rocco and management decision) is doing the right thing by resting Correa and Buxton on a day that a man named Chi Chi is the starting pitcher. The odds were against winning with both in the lineup. They odds are less with only one of Correa and Buxton playing. So, rest both of them - maybe you lose by 10 and come back and win the next day by 1. Or maybe, as happens in baseball, you actually win the game without them. Tampa has to be demoralized to have lost this game with our starting pitcher and with our big bats on the bench. Nice job by Chi Chi today after a rough first inning, which included a swinging bunt single. He gave us a chance today.
  6. I see Pagan and Duran handling the closer role until the trade deadline. It will depend how they do and how healthy they are as to what level of closer the Twins get then.
  7. Lewis getting injured probably makes Gordon's spot secure through the rest of the season. I think he gives 100% all the time. But he is not good for a major league SS and I don't see him making the roster next year as Lewis comes back, Martin hopefully is pushing to come up and Palacios plays better SS and does play LF (but not CF). I think the 40 man will have Palacios on it if Correa leaves because of Lewis injury. If Correa should stay, Palacios will be gone and Gordon could stay until Lewis is ready.
  8. No. I see Varland as a duplicate of Sands (AA stats from Sands last year are actually slightly better than Varland's AA stats this year). They need to work one level at a time as they don't have the stuff of a Canterino, who I think could make the jump if healthy.
  9. CES - didn't realize he was quite that bad in the field at 3B. If he is going to be a DH candidate don't draft Berry this year as he sounds like a carbon copy of CES.
  10. Fear the Steer. What an ending! He is this year's Miranda. Almost want to trade Polanco for Montas and call up Steer but neither team would probably do that.
  11. Great games by all the teams. That's the good. The very bad is Canterino to the IL and Emmanuel Rodriguez on crutches. OUCH!
  12. Arraez left the game. Is he heading to the IL and Kirilloff being called up?
  13. Is Sabato really Sano Jr? He starts out cold as ice. Then, he has a very hot stretch when it warms up.
  14. Polanco didn't seem too interested in playing this game. His defense cost us at least two runs. If he's injured, let's get Steer up here and put him on the IL. Steer is murdering AAA pitching again tonight. (edit - I guess he's also killing our own baserunners with his line drives!)
  15. A couple more plays like that in the OF and he won't have a career in the IF either..................
  16. Not sure playing one game in CF in St. Paul prepared an overzealous rookie to play there for the Twins. Just like Buxton, he's great. He made the catch. But now he is out for an extended time. Will the Twins just decide to play him at SS in St. Paul the rest of the year as he will be the Twins SS next year IMO?
  17. Yes, call Canterino up to the Twins. Start him in middle relief and have him throw about 50-60 pitches. If he does well, keep moving him to higher leverage situations, the same way the Twins did with Duran early on. I think the Twins have a specific innings limit for Canterino for this year. They should be able to have him hit that number of innings in the bullpen. He can still go back to being a starter next year.
  18. QUIT playing Austin Martin at SS. 2 more errors tonight, one in each of the first two innings and they cost Canterino 20 or so pitches in those innings. Great hitting night for Martin though. Cavaco continues his one week streak of great hitting.
  19. I really think the Twins have the other top relief pitcher in the minors, Canterino. Duran was a starter in the minors and now is doing well as a reliever. Plus, we want to be very restrictive on their innings anyway. Use them on alternate days with an extra day for a blowout at some point. Have them pitch the 8th and 9th sometimes like Duran is. Coulombe and eventually Alcala will help and then one or two trades at the deadline. I actually would like to give Cano some time to adjust to MLB hitters. He seems to have the fastball. If the Twins bats would just get going, someone like Cano could get that time. The Twins hitters are currently the ones putting stress on the bullpen to be perfect every night.
