Miranda and Sands would be a deal I would support.

Arraez is one of the best contact hitters and one of the better utility players in baseball, Winder has only played a handful of games and Miranda is still growing. That is an awful lot to give up for control for another year for a 29 year old pitcher who's been all over the place with consistency in his career. The Twins could get the 2021 version which was good winning 13 games or the 2020 version with a 5.60 ERA. At this point they'd be foolish to blow up the roster.

I'm okay with them being cautious with him. It's a long season, and if him missing a game a week keeps him from missing 2 months that is a long term win.
  4. rwilfong86
That would be a horrible trade.

Miranda should be sent down for sure, he is hitting a Sano-like .096 right now. Watching him struggle right now is painful. If Urshela wasn't playing such superb defense at 3rd I would guess he would be an option for 1st and Lewis plays 3rd.

Plenty of winnable games on the schedule for sure and winning each series will keep their momentum going.

I specifically remember 1 & 2, and how annoying both of those were at the moment when they were clear missed calls.

There were times when Ryan was visibly flustered by not getting a call, the difference in one pitch called differently, like in the first inning for example, could be the difference in a pitcher throwing 12 pitchers or 20+. But the Twins swinging so early in counts didn't help either, they need to learn to be more patient and work the count. But it's behind us and hopefully they'll get back on track tonight with a W.

And you are absolutely correct. Arraez ability to make contact when the Twins need it could come up big down the stretch. I'm not sure why someone would trade one of the hardest guys in baseball to strike out in a day where strike outs are the norm.

The home plate ump was so inconsistent, calls that were balls for Joe Ryan were strikes for Verlander. I will be so happy when they start using a digital strike zone.
  11. rwilfong86
Anytime you're in the same company with Arraez in the plate discipline category you're doing pretty good.
  12. rwilfong86
Sometimes a player just needs a different environment, and with LaMonte I think that was the case.
  13. rwilfong86
Depending on how well Lewis plays and how soon Correa comes back, Gordon may end up being the odd man out....
  14. rwilfong86
The thought of Sano being the best option is a horrifying thought. ?
  15. rwilfong86
I hoped that him losing weight and looking in shape coming into this season would have helped him in light of it being a contract year but it didn't seem to do much.
  16. rwilfong86
The Twins need production not moral support, ultimately they have younger more promising players who need those at-bats so moving on from him will be addition by subtraction. It would be great if they could find a trade partner for him. I think people think he will become the Sano of the past but it seems like what we see now is the real Sano, or he regressed from his more productive days. Hopefully he can fit in on another team and get a second chance.
  17. rwilfong86
Kiriloff's future is probably at first once the Twins move on from Sano, I can't imagine any scenario where the Twins trade Arraez. Gordon way more likely.
  18. rwilfong86
Arraez** Arraez is the Twins best contact hitter. His only weakness is hitting lefties but I think that will improve as the season comes along.
  19. rwilfong86
To Bundy's credit the defense behind him the other night didn't help him at all so we shouldn't be so quick to DFA the guy or demote him.
  20. rwilfong86
    Now is the future.
  21. rwilfong86
It will be a good problem to have won't it? ? So far the team has played well even when Correa wasn't, so hopefully the drop off if he is out for 6+ weeks won't be too significant, as long as Buxton stays healthy. If Polanco and Kepler get hot that should make up for some of the lost production. But defensively Correa is in a league by himself, and that is where he will be missed the most I think.
  22. rwilfong86
If Correa is out for 2 months, I think the chances at staying competitive will depend on guys like Polanco and Kepler getting hot, otherwise I think the Twins position in the standings takes a steady decline.
  23. rwilfong86
Several baserunning blunders led to this loss, the two thrown out at home and Kepler getting caught stealing. I can't remember the last time I've seen a team run themselves out of rallies the way the Twins have this week.
  24. rwilfong86
With Arraez and Bundy out with covid and Correa possibly having a broken finger, I think things will go downhill rapidly.
  25. rwilfong86
Realistically they may be able to win the Central by default since the rest of the Central is awful. I think the White Sox will compete better once healthy, so if they can build a decent lead by June that will help them towards the end of the season.
