  1. Maybe if we go two we can still start Ober in game one of the divisional series then on to Lopez and Gray.
  2. Anyone know - not that this is the right thing to do but - if Lewis tweaks it again (please no) can we add Buxton at that point? I wouldn't think we'd have to play a person short if we have an injury. Along those same lines - if we pull Lewis, could he theoretically be added to the next series or does he have to be out for a certain amount of time?
  3. I was thinking that too - like 12+ k's each team. Who can hit one out and who is on if it happens. I said yesterday that we win if our pitchers don't walk people and we strikeout less than Toronto does.
  4. I'm really afraid of Ryan as our game three starter. I wish they would have swapped him and Maeda or Ober. He struggled at the end of the year last year and again this year. With a lefty probably going in game three for Toronto, runs may be hard to come by and Ryan is giving up a TON of deep balls still. Seeing Toronto with 3 lefties makes me think teams are on to Baldelli and his early substitutions - want Julien, Kiriloff and or any other left handed hitter out of the line up early - make an early switch to a lefty. Baldelli has done this early and often knowing that there will still be right handed pitcher in the game later on. I hope his analytics have shown him that taking our best hitters out for one AB even though they'll get more ABs later in the game isn't the right move. Sitting here with my Puckett jersey on - come on Kirby, shine a little game 6 magic down on us today.
  5. Would've like to see them not send CP out for the second inning - let him bask in a great first inning for a great first game. He battled it out the second inning but coming off not throwing in a major league game in 18 months, I just thought one inning should have been where they start. I think Duran at 103, Varland at 99, Paddack at 99, Jax at 98, Funderburk at 98, Stewart at 98 - we have the power arms in the bullpen to dominate hitters IF we don't walk anyone. I'm really excited for next week! Stay healthy and be 1-0 next Wednesday morning.
  6. I don't trust Ryan as a game three - must win - starter. I'd rather have the vet Maeda start that game and Ryan start game one of the next series if we get there.
  7. Second... First was game 7, 91 world series
  8. Jeezus - 2nd inning... Really...? 😳😔
  9. What happened to Solano? Why only one ab?
  10. Couple thoughts - 1) Why can't the game one starter of the wildcard series be the game one starter of the divisional series? Gray/Lopez can go on four days rest at that point right? Or maybe it's an advantage to have starter #4 vs their #1 and the our 1 vs their 2 and so on. I think Maeda is the 3rd starter. He's done it. He's shown flashes of great pitching this year and I think he shows up in the playoffs. This would be Ryan and Ober's first time in playoffs. I don't want firsts in a must win game three. I still don't think Ryan is totally healthy either. He made a few weird movements after some pitches last night. 26 players... AK, Julien, Polo, Correa, Lewis, Farmer, Vasquez, Jeffers, MAT, Kep, Wallner, Castro, Solano, Stevenson Gray, Lopez, Maeda, Ober, Stewart, Pagan, Varland, Duran, Jax, Theilbar, Funderburk, Floro And who? Probably Gallo... maybe Keuchel even though we don't want to hear that - Ryan stays off the roster as their 4th starter. Buxton? Gordon? Celestino (probably not)
  11. He did this in the 13 inning Texas game too and almost lost that game for us too. As a manager he has to know that they've got a righty warmed up... That tells me he made the move knowing they would counter and not caring... Vasquez hitting 220 overall or a young Julien that has shown an ability to at least take a walk vs a lefty that was wild... That move in the playoffs should cost him his job.
  12. I really LOVE Ober long term. Like a modern day Brad Radke (plus 3-5 or mph on his stuff) but I've gotta go with Maeda as our 4th starter. He shows up in big games and has been there before. I worry Ober is gassed at this point and I'm not sure that's fixable in three weeks.
  13. I think Lee plays primarily second. Julien is more of the utility guy and both Lee and Julien can get some first base in too and DH if Buxton gets his ass into the outfield. AK can get some outfield. We will find a place for his bat. (I hope)
  14. If we got to watch home grown talent grow up from the draft to a ws team then start over and grow another team from within... I'd be happy with a ws championship every 10 to 15 years with some growing pains in between. What I hate is the perpetual just barely good enough to get in or out. That is the definition of brutal.
  15. Record tie breaker goes to the AL team first (thinking cuz it was an AL team that dropped them) and tie breaker in the AL goes by last year's record.
  16. 2024 1st AK (Julien) 2nd Lee (Julien) (Polo) 3rd Lewis (Miranda) SS Correa (polo) Catcher Jeffers (Vasquez) RF Wallner CF Buxton (Martin) LF Larnach DH Julien (Buxton) (Polo) There are a few other interesting prospects as well.
  17. If you think he has no input then you're blind. He absolutely has a say... "hey front office I'm two players short, I need that fixed"
  18. They did exactly this with Arraez. Also, why can't Rocco know when to put someone on IR... I said the same thing last year. We could've had a playable player on our bench the last week of Solano would've been put on the IL... Now Castro too... Day to day means can't play right now which means we're now two players short handed... Everything this organization does bucks the norm and usually does not work. From terrible trades, to bringing in washed up vets instead of letting the young players play, to keeping players in the minors their entire careers, to bullpen usage, no consistency in the lineup, players regressing throughout the year... So many red flags. They've had enough time and have shown they are incapable of producing or growing a team that can play at or above their potential. Next
  19. If I'm looking to give this team the very very best shot to win the world series this year (not saying this is the right thing to do)... We trade for... Bellinger (maybe a package including Larnach, some wishful thinking of Gallo in the deal as well and some minor league guys) and sign him for 3 years. Hader - and yes you give up some nice things so you'd HAVE to sign him for another 2 to 3 years. Robertson - rental, don't give up too much (maybe Robertson and Raley) Playoff roster AK Julien Correa Polo Jeffers Kep Bellinger Wallner Bux Starting rotation Gray, Ryan, Lopez, Maeda (pick your 3 based on who's hot and match ups) Robertson to Duran to Hader (scary) On paper this looks like there's some potential.
  20. The perfect trade deadline (minus any of the huge possibilities) - Bellinger and he plays out the season as he started the season, brings winning and leadership and shows he's finally healthy again and we resign him for 3 years so we don't have to have a MAT type player there every day again next year (I appreciate what MAT is but it's not an every day Centerfielder). Hader and Robertson to shut the door when our starters pitch lights out. Then we stay healthy, Lewis comes back and rakes, Polo is truly healthy and rakes and buck takes a few days away, gets his head on straight and figures it out down the stretch. Then we've got a fighting chance.
  21. I actually see a lot of similarities with SS. And I think it's what this team needs. Leadership and a person that has won before - and maybe we get another 2 to 3 years from him with the thought that Buxton isn't going to be in CF in the future. That being said - Lewis and Polo should help the offense. Correa has talked a lot about being more aware of making contact with pitches which I think is a huge deal. Theilbar and Stewart will help the BP.... One Shannon Stewart like catalyst and no more injuries and we could turn on for August and September! We've got the pitching to do something if we can figure out the offense or go find some!
  22. A new coach absolutely could change how some or all of our hitters are hitting. It's his approach they are trying to follow. Rocco was quoted as saying strikeouts aren't a bad thing and the analytical thing to do is swing for the fences. This is why we got Gallo. It's why Kep has went from a mid to high .200s hitter to a low .200s hitter. It's why our hitters hit in the minors and not when they get up with the twins, then when they're traded they hit again. This is all absolutely about the manager and his approach. It worked one year with a juiced ball and he just can't get off that one year and adapt.
  23. Has a Rocco led team ever out performed pythagorian wins losses? Honest question... Thinking maybe 2019 did
  24. The most unwatchable twins team since the 90s. Baseball and the twins are a staple of my summer. Haven't watched a game since the end of May and definitely won't until changes are made. No longer planning to take my kid to a game on July. We'll go fishing and camping instead.
