    I doubt your hot take would survive any type of scrutiny. Look, the Twins played better than I expected in the first third of the season. After that, even if they played .500 ball the rest of the way, they probably would have won the division. Injuries played a big role in preventing that.

    Yeah and I got derided a while ago for floating the idea of putting a clearly hobbled person on the DL. What happens when you play through injuries? Bad performance + original injury won't heal + potentially other injuries.

    Yes top pitching prospect is probably a reach. Solid mid to end-rotation starter? Possible. It's also a reach to anoint him minor league pitcher of the year. In the high minors, SWR (3.29ERA/1.15WHIP/10.1K9) and Varland (3.06ERA/1.26WHIP/10.4K9) are probably the best candidates, but David Festa (2.05ERA/1.10WHIP/9.9K9) has put up best overall numbers this year, no?

    The only surprise about Sabato is that the Twins FO used a 1st round draft pick on him. They seem to have this horrible urge to use top draft picks on HR-or-nothing no-defense corner IF/OFs.

    wow I'm lucky that I have not been able to watch the last 5 games due to blackout restrictions (I live in Texas). Can this team put it together for the stretch run? We've been waiting for a while now...

    replacing ABs from Cave/Celestino/Beckham with Larnach/Garlick is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade IMHO

    is the ceiling higher than Berrios's ceiling? Maybe but probably not. is the ceiling higher than Berrios's performance? Definitely yes is he likely to exceed Berrios's performance? Unlikely, though it would be nice.

    Excluding May/June (ineffective due to injury?), SWR looks really solid this year. 2ER in 34.1IP, good for a 0.52 ERA

    That is a bit reassuring, thanks. The 916 ops against in July should be concerning though, as should the 1.50 whip (also July).

    I agree that this is the type of move that the Twins should be making. But Lopez has three good months (April-June) in his resume --- He has not been good in July. This makes me nervous.

    Trading Urshela also would allow Arraez to share 3B with Miranda. Though, is Sano better than Urshela for the stretch run this year? possibly, but not likely

    We need bullpen help. On another note though, what do you think about Cruz's HOF chances? A good 2022 would have bolstered his case no doubt. The shortened 2020 season didn't help either.

    I agree that the team is likely to double down on Martin, but as much as I like Raya and Steer, they are movable for the right return. As to Wallner, yes he needs to be moved, but won't net much. I don't get why they keep drafting these types of bat-first strike-out prone hitters in the first round (when they already have enough "depth" in that department).

    Miranda should be playing everyday, in AAA. (Maybe we can give him more playing time at 2B/3B until Polanco returns from DL)

    I think, however, that the Twins can count on someone from their SP depth to function as a BP piece. For example, Winder might be really strong coming out of the bullpen in shorter stints. I think Winder has the stuff to be a solid starting pitcher, but ideally I would not have him start a playoff game this year.

    they should flip, for example, Martin and SWR for 1.5 years of someone like Berrios or better. We have internal options at LF and 1B. We need to upgrade at the top of the rotation. If only we had held onto Taylor Rogers we would have had a pretty dominant BP with Rogers and Duran at the back end.

    Both Buxton and Correa are nursing injuries, so have Lewis alternate between CF and SS for the next couple of weeks. Once Buxton and Correa are fully healed, send Lewis back to AAA for everyday reps at SS.

    Generally agree with the sentiment but Miranda/Arraez can't handle short, so to the extent that Gordon can handle short that does provide some value...

    Kind of like a Nick Punto type player. If used well (and hopefully not every day), he can be valuable.
