Nick, I think you should've started this article one day earlier, and asked one additional question: Does anyone really care?

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/yankees-claim-brent-headrick-designate-owen-white.html Sounds to me like there's another move in the works and they needed to clear a 40-man spot.

And here I thought the automatic runner on second in extra innings was the stupidest idea they'd come up with. Guess I was wrong.

This is the first time I've really watched many highlights of Festa pitching, and his windup caught my eye. He doesn't really open and extend his pitching elbow much as he's loading up to pitch. I wonder if that is something that he's been taught or just part of his natural motion, but it looks a bit unorthodox.

I agree. I just don't see the funds available for that type of contract. Frankly, I'd rather see what we have in some of the youngsters coming up the in the farm system.

I just don't think Gray is worth that kind of dough to the Twins. Yes, he had a nice season, but 22 mil a year can go a long way toward patching up some other holes, especially when it seemed like he outpitched his recent history and is at that age when regression can be expected. I'd rather they make the qualifying offer and take the first-rounder.

I'm in favor of excercising this year's option, but if Polo is healthy next year (and Lee, Lewis and Correa are manning 3B, 2B and SS in some combination), where does that leave Julien? Would they consider trying him in LF the way they tried with Arraez last year?

Personally, I'm OK with most of the roster. If I were Falvine, I'd use 2023 to get the kids some experience. I'd like to see Kepler, Pagan and Sonny Gray traded for prospects, and likely move Maeda at the trade deadline. The team needs to know what they have in Varland, Winder, Woods-Richardson, Wallner, Kirilloff, Larnach, Lee, Lewis (when he's healthy again), etc. The only way to find that out is to give them time in the big leagues. Once you find out who is for real this year, you can supplement next year with FAs to fill the gaps and make a run, but giving 13 years to Correa or six to an oft-injured Rodon is not fiscally responsible. I'd rather watch the kids grow this year than be saddled with those contracts.

I don't the seat under the FO or Baldelli is even remotely warm. COVID delayed the FO's timeline for developing a sustainable pipeline of pitching prospects (ala the Cleveland model), but it's hard to deny the improvement in the quality of young arms they're assembling over what was in the cupboard when Falvine arrived. I've read elsewhere that a team needs ten solid pitching prospects to hope that three pan out as solid MLB arms. That seems to be the model the FO is following, and I'm on board with it. The FO may need one more year of the Bundys & Archers of the world, but in a couple of years, the rotation should be really solid with more young arms in the pipeline.

Yeah, you lost me when you suggested to include Winder and Larnach. Frankly, with Maeda and Paddock coming back next year (at some point), and with Winder, Smeltzer, Ober & Ryan all viable starting candidates, plus other options like Balazovic who should be ready by then, I don't see the future need for a big-time starter. As for this season, they seem to be patching together the rotation far better than the bully. Pagan is on my sh*t list right now after yesterday's meltdown. I'd be happy to trade Martin for a good bullpen guy right now.

I live a couple of hours south of DFW, and hit two Twins games last year at GLP. The article is pretty spot on. The atmosphere is staid, food & beer selections meh, and the hangar lacks the charm of the old Ballpark across the street. However, it beats the hell out of Minute Maid Park in Houston, which is about the same distance from me.
  12. Teddy
I'd be there tomorrow, and wouldn't even think twice about it.

With all due respect, Nick, I appreciate your right to voice your opinion, but I agree with the commenters who posted their thoughts that this isn't the forum for political discussions. Stepping over that line is a good way to lose readership in something you and your partners have worked hard to build.

I immediately had the same question!

I am disappointed about giving up a live arm like Graterol, but trust that this is Falvey's "pitching guru" gene kicking in finding us the next Corey Kluber. Plus, it opens up a role in the pen for Fernando Romero to come in and prove his 100-mph fastball can be effective in the role we expected for Graterol. So in the end, I'll trust that this is a move by the FO to "go for it" in 2020.

I like Donaldson as a player, but he has a bit of a reputation as being a PITA in the clubhouse. Atlanta reportedly had some issues with that early last year before a conversation between the manager and player got Donaldson to buy in and then they went on a run. Would he fit in this clubhouse?
  17. Teddy
You make valid points on signing Odorizzi to a team-friendly extension now. I'm still in wait-and-see mode on Gibby.
  18. Teddy
Neither of these trades make much sense to me. I'd have no problem giving up the four guys you mentioned in the first trade proposal, but I would rather offer that package for JT Realmuto than Greinke. The second one gives up two top-15 prospects and a solid starter prospect for a strikeout machine. No thanks. Plenty of those types of guys available on the FA market looking for a one-year deal.
  19. Teddy
I just prefer to listen to Corey. Of course, I have to listen to Dan as part of the package, but his anecdotes and general smart-aleck attitude out weighs the "and we go to the ninth with the score the Twins 4 and the Indians 7" roughness.
  20. Teddy
I hope this signals the end of Robbie Grossman in a Twins uniform.
  21. Teddy
I know Joe hasn't turned out to be the HOFer we all hoped, but I think he still has gas in the tank and I'd love to see him return for 3 more years.
  22. Teddy
We have to remember that he's just 25. He's just becoming a man, yet he's been a big-leaguer full-time for 3-4 years. I'm comfortable that he'll figure it out soon.
  23. Teddy
So basically, what you're saying is that the Twins need to work on just a few key areas: outfielders, infielders, catchers, starters and relievers. If they can just get a few improvements in each of those few areas, they should be fine?
  24. Teddy
Long home runs are fun, but meaningless. Remember Byung Ho or Kennys' epic blasts? Where are THEY now?
  25. Teddy
It's hard to remember when Puck was so skinny (comparatively, that is).
