    Royals at 130 million after signing Kennedy. Tigers still discussing Cespedes trying to calculate luxury tax ramifications. White Sox discussing numerous "big money free agents" Hope this works out

    One drawback I see in trying to sign Dexter Fowler is that Span got three years and I think Fowler gets at least that. I would not sign him. I think we have to be patient. This will sort itself out and the good news is there are options.

    It does seem unusual but there are a lot of unsigned players for January 10th. I still think/hope we sign a left handed relief pitcher. Even though the team is not a finished product there are not that many openings, A trade may be the best way. They could trade Plouffe for the reliever, move Sano back to 3rd and sign Justin Upton, I just woke up.

    I agree with the bullpen additions. I think they will add one or two guys in the 1 year $3 million range. I really hope they do not add an outfielder. It is time to play Buxton, Rosario, Sano, Arcia and see what you have at the major league level. The prospects need to turn into production. Don't need a veteran outfielder and then not being able to have a spot for Arcia. Even though I think Arcia really needs to improve in the field. I believe he will hit this year.

    I realize the Twins need some left handed power but I do not see where he fits unless there is an injury or Park needs some triple A time. If his defense does not improve drastically he is hard to put in the lineup.

    I have had this same thought. But my feeling was is that it depends what you could get for him. The rotation would not be that much different if you moved May into Gibson's slot. Let Milone and Nolasco fight for the 5th spot and if both bomb promote Berrios after a month. The reds are trading for controllable players but I think they even want younger than Gibson. Not sure where the best fit would be. I would listen but be in no hurry.

    I think this is the way they are going to go. I would be surprised if we sign Clipppard or Bastardo. You can make a pretty good case against the 3-4 year deals for relievers. I would like to see one solid reliever and then a gamble or two.

    I would pursue Holland. The Tommy John success rate has been good. If nothing else you can drive up the price for the Royals.

    If he was worth 2.6 war last year. Why wouldn't they tender him a contract? Even if they traded him.

    Thanks for the analysis. All he needs to be right now is better than Duensing and Aaron Thompsen to help the bullpen. Sounds like he has a good chance to do that.

    While I like the trade for the Twins. I can see it working for Arizona also. Herrmann versatility is his best asset which is more valuable to a National league team. Nice to have on your bench when you are in a position to double switch. Should play more often which may help his offense.

    Thanks for the post. Do you think Garver or Turner can make a big step forward? Plenty of opportunity at that position.

    Walker, Kepler and Buxton will start next year in the minors. Arcia may be traded. The Robinson contract would not be anything you could not write off as soon as one of the young guys are ready. I think this makes sense.

    Another point about calling up Berrios is that most posters assume that he would have replaced Pelfrey. How do we know it would not have reduced Duffey's starts. I was all for calling up Berrios especially since you could still manipulate his service time by leaving him in AAA at the start of next season. I am not sure it would have made a difference but you have to try when you get this close.

    I thought the point Dave was making was that you can call Berrios up this year and if you are worried about service time keep him in the minors to start next year. He most likely will be starting next year in the minors either way. Would have to stay a month longer if we call him up this year. May be why Ryan is waiting. It would be 5 days less of service time and he is not going to pitch before next weekend. Just hoping he gets called up this year

    Must have been watching the two rookie relievers come in and give the game away tonight. Was anyone surprised when A-Rod hit the home run?

    With all the young talent they have this is not as big of a problem as it could have been. Too bad the money wasn't well spent as they would be in terrific shape if that happened.

    You picked the right guy and I don't think it is even that close. He hit .500 in 78 plate appearances. I realize he is young and in the low minors but do you think he will be ranked on the prospect lists?

    May have to trade Plouffe open up the DH spot for Arcia/Hunter. I would think you could get a catcher or shortstop for Plouffe. I would not trade Arcia now. All of the players you mentioned could be worth quite a bit more next year. I think Plouffe's value has about peaked and is very good so trade him before he gets expensive.
