Maybe, but that's trading from strength to fill weaknesses for the Twins. Don't you think that's about what it would take for the Mets to hypothetically make that trade?
Has anyone watched Blindspot? I thought the first two episodes were pretty solid. I also have enjoyed Limitless. The main character (Jake McDorman) is funny and a good guy to relate to and root for.
I would like to target a young catcher too, just not Hedges. From looking at his numbers, he must be the best defensive catcher in the history of baseball to justify his prospect rankings.
I like that opening day roster, but I don't think I would like giving up a top 100 guy in Polanco plus others for Shields and Benoit. I'd rather use those resources for a catcher like Kevin Plawecki. The Mets could probably use a second baseman. I'd like them to go after Tyler Clippard in free agency or maybe a guy like Drew Storen in a trade.
Wow those aren't very high standards. I thought Scott Baker might have done that, but he only pitched 172 innings in 2008 when he went 11-4 with a 3.45 ERA. In 2009 he pitched 200 innings and went 15-9, but he had a 4.37 ERA.
That was a very well thought out post, but I am simply rooting for anything that keeps the Angels out of the playoffs. I don't mind Trout, but there's not much to like about them besides him.
The last time it happened was in 2010 when Dexter Fowler had 14 triples, but was just 13 for 21 in stolen bases. Fowler and Rosario would both fall into the category of good, but not great speed.
To only get one hit off of a nothing pitcher like Boyd is really frustrating. I expected a much better performance last night. Hopefully Molitor tries to mix it up and give Kepler a shot to see if he can provide a spark.
It's a lot easier to have confidence when you're facing guys your own age in the minors, but when your best stuff and talent is just on par with the hitter's, that's when you have to have self confidence and trust your stuff.
Don't you think not being able to handle pressure is what causes his bad starts to snowball really quickly? When he gets off to a good start, he's fine, but once things start to go wrong, he can't seem to get out of it.
I'm pretty convinced that Gibson doesn't have that "it factor" or bulldog mentality that a good pitcher needs. He looks scared out there when things aren't going perfectly for him.
It seems like he's finding it harder to get swings and misses on the slider when the fastball is 92 instead of 96. I know velocity isn't everything, but it looks like batters are laying off the slider pretty easily when they don't have to worry about that big fastball.
