  1. Would the Mets have interest in Trevor Plouffe with David Wright still under contract though? I think the future OF would be fine with Hicks/Arcia platoon, Buxton, and whoever you keep between Kepler/Rosario.
  2. How about Max Kepler/Eddie Rosario and another guy ranked in the Twins 20s for Kevin Plawecki of the Mets. If they don't re-sign Cespedes, they presumably could use another outfielder, but it may take more than a guy like Kepler to get a guy who has been on top 100 lists in Plawecki.
  3. I'd probably be in favor of trading one of the young outfielders if it nets you a solid catcher in return.
  4. I think there are better options to fill the DH spot than Kennys Vargas.
  5. From the eye test this year, it seemed like he would get beat on fastballs, which would cause him to cheat on his swing, and consequently, he swung at a lot of balls in the dirt. Hopefully he finds something in his time in the minors, but it just doesn't look like his bat is quick enough.
  6. It's a well deserved promotion to triple-A, but I just don't ever see Vargas making it as a major league player. I think he's shown that he can't catch up to a big league fastball.
  7. This feels like the Mike Pelfrey situation from a few years ago. Everyone thought there was no way they would re-sign him...and then TR gave him a 2 year deal. And that was for a guy who hadn't spent the majority of his career as a Twins fan favorite. So, yeah I'd say there is a better than 70% chance they re-sign him.
  8. The Cubs did draft two college guys (Bryant and Schwarber) in the same drafts that the Twins took two high school guys, so it would make sense that they are a bit ahead right now.
  9. Baseball is full of parity (mediocrity) these days. Every team has flaws. With some minor improvements to the bullpen and the next three prospects- Buxton, Berrios, and Polanco coming up and hopefully getting established as MLB players, this team should be a contender next year.
  10. The fragility of Buxton so far is concerning, but I'd still keep him over Sano because of the whole fielding aspect of the game.
  11. I think CJ Edwards has made the transition to the bullpen.
  12. You're probably right about the Bryant over Sano, but that's fairly even. But I'd still take the Twins OF over the Cubs. And if the Cubs want to pay Heyward $150 million plus to go along with an aging Jon Lester, then that's fine with me.
  13. Once you get into the postseason, anything can happen. As you said, KC made it last year with a great defense and bullpen and mediocre everything else. Their ace was James Shields, who is the type of guy the Twins could get, or may already have.
  14. I think I'd take Sano over Bryant and hopefully an outfield of Arcia/Rosario, Buxton, and Kepler is better than Schwarber( if he moves to LF), Almora or other CF, and Soler. And if you include Rizzo in the discussion, then Dozier is a comparable player, and the Cubs minor league pitching isn't great, so I'd call it fairly even.
  15. I think all three of Sano, Buxton, and Arcia could turn into stars, and then when you add in guys like Jorge Polanco, Jose Berrios, and Max Kepler to get an extended look soon as well. I'll take that young core over any other team's under-25 core.
  16. I don't understand that baserunning metric. Bryant and Brian Dozier are within 1 SB of each other, yet Bryant has a rating of 5.4 compared to Dozier's 2.9. Could there really be that big of a gap between the two in other areas of baserunning? And how is Bryant #2 in all of baseball in that metric, behind only Billy Hamilton?
  17. I don't really understand how he is that high in WAR. He's definitely been good, but his OPS is .791 compared to Trevor Plouffe's .769. I wouldn't say that he's been dominant either. You could make the argument that Bryant is just a rookie, but either way that's not dominant for someone with as much hype as Bryant had.
  18. It has more to do with how the Twins have had basically the same record as those three teams for the entire season, yet the talk is always about the looming dynasty for the other three. And I would say that Miguel Sano is well on his way to having as good a season as Bryant, just with less ABs- which I know could very well change, but Bryant hasn't dominated. Having said that, I agree that it doesn't really matter what the national people say, but it would be nice to get some more respect.
  19. This is something that's been annoying me lately about MLB Network. They always rave about the young up and coming stars on the Astros, Mets, and Cubs, but they seem to forget that the Twins are likely on the same path in terms of young players, if not better.
  20. Yeah, I would probably give Milone a few more starts to see if he can regain his pre-AS form, but if Pelfrey is bad in his next start he needs to be replaced.
  21. I like their chances if they replace Tommy Milone and Mike Pelfrey with Trevor May and either Tyler Duffey or Jose Berrios.
  22. It's because it's the typical Twins trade. They're not acquiring an impact player, but they're still unnecessarily overpaying for that guy.
  23. They gave up Chih-Wei Hu. Terrible trade.
  24. .337/.418/.553 (.971) in 323 PA, 6 HR, 46 RBI, 25 Doubles, 9 Triples, 13 SB.
  25. Sano has shown he can use the whole field though. He's got at least two RBI hits the other way already, and he has crushed a double off the limestone in right field too.
