  1. Prince Fielder is expected to retire. It's too bad injuries took away so much time for such a great hitter. He'll finish with 1645 hits and 319 HRs and a line of .283/.382/.506 (.887). This should give the Rangers a whole lot of money to spend now.
  2. Great athlete, but he never even learned how to throw a football, so I don't know how he's going to play the ultimate skill sport of baseball after all these years. Good luck to him though.
  3. They usually pick up the afternoon games that aren't originally on the schedule. I don't remember missing an afternoon game in the second half last year.
  4. I think this would be a good time to make an exception on that.
  5. It looks like there will be no local broadcast of Thursday's afternoon start for Jose Berrios. That sounds like a good marketing move. /s Thanks a lot, Fox Sports.
  6. I think Stewart throws harder than that, at least he has in the past. I've never heard him described as a soft tosser. Tyler Jay is on an innings limit. He had a 3.33 combined ERA in his first full year starting, with an 8.3 K/9. Not too bad.
  7. I don't think either one of those things is true.
  8. Rough day for the offense throughout the system. Daniel Palka is going through a rough stretch of his own. In his last 10 games, he's hitting .135 with just 1 HR, bringing his AAA BA down to .248.
  9. That would be fine, but I can't see Trevor Plouffe spending a whole lot of time on the bench with the way Molitor splits playing time, so I don't see where Polanco fits into the lineup on a regular basis. Maybe he'll be used as a clutch-pinch-sac-bunter.
  10. If it keeps Danny Santana on the bench, then I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot in the outfield.
  11. I'm glad you can see the future. The man's got 3 batting titles and an MVP as a catcher. He'll finish with over 2000 hits. Show some respect.
  12. With Plouffe not on the team next year, Polanco and Sano could split playing time at 3B, with Sano DH'ing as well and Polanco filling in around the infield. Losing Plouffe doesn't worry me.
  13. Jorge Polanco has made several top 100 lists, including #66 on Keith Laws 2016 list. I think you're underselling his talent. If he has a chance to play SS defensively, he should get a shot there even if that might not be his future position.
  14. I was really optimistic about the offense coming into the season, and it's great to finally see them producing.
  15. That's the first time I've heard Fernando Romero as a possible #1 in the system. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
  16. Joe is up to a .794 OPS and 117 OPS+, and is in line for his best season since 2013. Hopefully he can continue the success and finish the season strong.
  17. Do you really think they're going to trade the face of the franchise? That'd be a pretty bold early move for the new GM, and I don't see it happening.
  18. I just read that article and my question is: What does any of this mean?
  19. He had a 69/68 BB/SO rate in the minors last year. His eye at the plate is a huge skill to have.
  20. Wasn't it just this past offseason when we were discussing Berrios or Kepler for Sonny Gray? This is why trading for pitching can be a huge risk.
  21. The Braves have done a good job adding minor league talent. The difference between them and the Twins is that all of their talent are still considered shiny prospects, while the Twins young talent is gaining experience in the MLB. The Twins should not be in the same conversation as the Reds, Braves, Phillies, Brewers, and probably the Rays and A's too.
  22. I'd put Vielma making the opening day roster at about 1%. Polanco and Esocbar are going to be the starting SS/utility guy, and the rest of the roster would be filled by guys better and more experienced than Vielma. I guess that would change if Dozier or another infielder is traded, but I doubt that happens.
  23. And Manny Machado and Matt Harvey and Kershaw and McCutchen. Joel Sherman wrote an article about it: http://nypost.com/2016/03/05/10-mlb-stars-may-make-2018-mlb-free-agent-class-the-best-ever/
  24. Great day yesterday for Twins fans. Max Kepler is having an amazing season. He's got an .879 OPS and 133 OPS+ on the season now.
