  1. Slight tangent: I know us Twins fans have to deal with Danny Santana, but how frustrating would it be to be a Braves fan watching Jeff Francoeur play in 99 games for that awful team? Plus they've got Kemp and Markakis as two other old guys taking up time in the outfield. I'm glad we get to see Kepler and Rosario in the outfield instead of what the Braves are dealing with.
  2. He seems like he'd be a great teammate. Plus, he's got a good nickname. But yeah, I don't really get it either.
  3. I'm so glad Paul Molitor is going to be leading this team again next year. They're playing some inspired ball behind his leadership right now.
  4. Tonkin's having a tough series. His chance of finishing the year with a decent ERA is pretty much shot now.
  5. He seems like a Kyle Gibson pitcher to me. A heavy fastball, with mediocre secondary pitches. I'm assuming he's nibbling around the zone and trying to get guys to chase, as evidenced by the high walk numbers.
  6. Yeah why do all of the Twins top prospects come up with holes? Polanco can hit, but doesn't have a position, Sano can't field, Buxton apparently can't hit, and Berrios can't throw strikes all of a sudden. Kepler is the only one who looks like a complete player right now. All a part of the process I guess.
  7. I like that the Twins are taking a long look at Polanco at SS, even when Eduardo Escobar is playing. I think he can be acceptable there, although his whiff at that sharp grounder last night was a little discouraging to that thought.
  8. Hopefully the wrist problems were a big factor in his struggles this year. And hopefully he has a successful recovery too.
  9. Fox Sports North isn't televising Thursday's afternoon game. Does anybody want to guess which pitcher is starting for the Twins on that day???
  10. My favorite part about this for Kennys was the double-header. He hits 2 HRs and increases his OPS to over 1.000, and then can't get into the second game's lineup? And then only gets into two more games before he gets sent down. That doesn't seem right.
  11. I think Jorge Polanco is an upgrade over Plouffe at 3rd and at least comparable to Dozier at 2nd. He's been ok at SS so far as well. I like Kurt Suzuki as a backup catcher, but he is awful defensively, so I don't think your argument to keep him quite works here
  12. Tate and two other players only got Texas a couple of months of a 39 year old DH.
  13. His delivery is a lot more high effort in games than that. Look up some video of him in game.
  14. Passing on Benintendi hurts a little, but that was such a weak draft at the top that I don't think you can say it doesn't look good right now. Tyler Jay has a 3.33 ERA with good K numbers in his first year starting. The injury doesn't sound too serious, so I'm not too worried about him.
  15. I'll give you this quote about Carson Fulmer from Keith Law on his "Just Missed" list from before the season (Jay ranked 61st). "He has a very violent delivery and tends to work too much out of the zone to be a big league starter, so I project him as a reliever, as did many scouts who saw him dealing for the Vanderbilt Commodores before the draft." http://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/14731648/kebryan-hayes-prospects-just-missed-top-100-mlb
  16. He's got a 4.76 ERA and he walks a ton of guys. Plus he's got a weird, high-effort delivery that usually leads to pitching in the bullpen.
  17. Who many, if not most, thought would have to move to the bullpen. And his results from this year are showing that this is probably the case.
  18. Pretty harsh take on Kohl Stewart, a guy who has a career 2.88 ERA, while being over 2 years younger than the league average at every stop. In his first time repeating a level, he increased his K rate from 4.9 to 7.7 at Ft. Myers. Still not great but he's shown improvement, and even when he's not striking guys out, he's getting them out, so I'd say this has been an encouraging year for him.
  19. Carson Fulmer had a 4.76 ERA at AA with 5.3 BB/9. That's pretty awful from a guy who was a great starter in college. Everybody thought he would have to move to the bullpen. Him making the majors should have nothing to do with how you look at Jay. And Tyler Jay's 2.84 ERA with 8.8 K/9 as a starter in A+ is pretty good.
  20. I think it's a good thing to do. I look at Jim Edmonds, who fell off the ballot with 2.5% of the votes in his first year. He's probably not a HOFer anyway, but he deserves more consideration I think.
  21. Play for a big market team. And, oh yeah...hit dingers.
  22. With Byron Buxton's 3 strikeouts yesterday, he's now K'd 9 times in 23 AB's since his demotion. That's not exactly what I was hoping for.
  23. That's interesting. I always thought Berrios sat 92-96 in the minors, and it seems like that was where he has been at when I've watched. He's averaging 93.5 MPH with the fastball this year in the majors.
  24. I don't get that one. What does his velocity have to do with anything? I didn't think that was a concern.
