  1. The O's are making a nice push. That's the team I'm rooting for this postseason.
  2. I think most records go by where the player played the majority of his games for that season, but I see what you mean. The record for for HRs by a 2B is 43. And as you pointed out, the record for HRs as a 2B is 42.
  3. Davey Johnson actually hit 43 HRs in 1973. Interestingly, his second highest mark in a season is just 18 in 1971. Does anyone have any more information on this huge power spike? It was in his first season in the NL, with Atlanta, so I guess that played a role.
  4. Did you tell Jose that occasionally throwing the ball over the plate could be helpful?
  5. I'd keep all 3 and let Polanco start the season at SS. Not great range, but hopefully he can make the routine plays. Also, the "Dozier likely has more trade value" than Escobar might be just a bit of an understatement.
  6. That was pretty encouraging from Klaw, besides the Gonsalves part. Matt Duffy hit 12 HRs in 2015. I know that he had basically no power in the minors, but I don't see how that's much of a comparison to Dozier's MLB transformation.
  7. Granite and Buxton 1/2 or 9/1 in an order would be pretty fun to watch. I would assume there would be a "no fly zone" in the outfield too with the speed they have.
  8. Any ideas on why Kiriloff isn't a part of this?
  9. I didn't say it was exact, I just said it was a good indicator of success. Everyone you mentioned had really good seasons.
  10. Well they have those opportunities because they're the team's best hitters. That's why they're hitting 3rd or 4th.
  11. You're right. That's why the leaders in those categories are all totally random. /s
  12. Joe Mauer has been healthy and he's going to struggle to get to 50 RBIs. That alone should tell you that he shouldn't be expected to produce runs in the middle of an order.
  13. Sarcasm aside, besides fielding %, they're actually pretty good indicators.
  14. That's a weird lineup. And for more than one reason.
  15. I was just going to post that walks aren't as important in the 5th spot in the lineup as they are in the 2nd spot, so I was wondering why you are arguing for this.
  16. And yet they are still sitting 7th in the league in runs scored. I think they'd be a couple spots higher if they got to face their own pitching staff too. If the Twins had the Mets pitching, they would make the playoffs. The Twins have scored 99 more runs than the Mets...and the Mets are probably going to make the playoffs with that bad offense anyway.
  17. Mauer: .382 SLG with RISP this year, with a .345 BABIP Kepler: .416 SLG, with RISP, with a .203 BABIP.
  18. Probably the guy with 12 more RBI in 174 less plate appearances.
  19. The offense isn't the problem.
  20. That's debatable. No one thinks of Joe as a run producer, especially at this point in his career. Mauer's OBP ability is better higher in the order anyway.
  21. Switching Kepler and Mauer makes more sense to me. I want an RBI guy in the 5th spot.
  22. I think slotting Dozier in between the two left handed hitters would be better for late game matchup situations. I'd also rather switch whoever's at catcher and Polanco because of the increased RBI opportunities in the 7th spot.
  23. I want Buxton to bat leadoff as well. Opening Day next year/rest of this year: Buxton Mauer Dozier Sano Kepler Vargas Polanco catcher Rosario
  24. Plate discipline is the 6th tool.
