  1. I'd be thrilled to see Romero rewarded for his loyalty to the organization. Seriously, how many guys come on board as teenagers, and are still around at 27? Even if it's just for a game.
  2. Freeland sounds legit. I'd be down for a high upside lefty, especially a college one.
  3. Now, lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Weren't the Twins at or over .500 into mid May last season? Aw go for it.
  4. One of my favorite memories was sitting in the left field grandstand for an 11am start vs. Seattle. It was late August and the Twins were done. There couldn't have been more than 1000 fans in the stadium. Ron Jackson was at first for the Twins, and they were throwing the ball around before the start of an inning. My brother and I were screaming "Hey Papa Jack," and waving our arms, and he acknowledged us, all the way out in LF. I loved the $2 seats; forgot Frosty Malts, those were great. Tailgating was fun too. Also got to enjoy a couple Twins North Stars double headers when the Stars made the playoffs.
  5. I like the idea of a platoon for Hicks, but Fuld seems pretty damn weak at the plate, which is the only problem with Hicks...
  6. Gibson pitches Twins to 1/2 game out of first. I just hope Mauer won't feel butthurt when Gibson's contract extension dwarfs Joe's meager pay.
  7. I remember the good old days when a rain check could be used for any damn game you wanted to go to.
  8. At least he "battled." Now, if he were to battle his tail off, maybe he'd get somewhere....
  9. I could see Dozier being a very good Red Sox 2nd baseman. Scary thought.
  10. Maybe he will be the Adam Dunn of 2nd basemen
  11. Denny Hocking. We'd call it the Snaggletooth Award. I remember year AND years ago, living in France, and there was a channel that ran the CBS evening new with Dan Rather, and they ran a story about Hocking, for reasons I have since forgotten. I have been a fan ever since.
  12. Given the interest level here of DFAs from other teams, who go unclaimed, Bartlett is goneski.
  13. Was that Nolasco's first start at Target Field?
  14. They got a ways to go to beat some of those crowds of hundreds I was part of at the Met.
  15. O'Reilly becomes Orsy
  16. Much better odds than winning the Powerball. I know people who throw a lot more than $30 a year at that.
  17. I find it pretty funny that NBC Sports can provide me coverage of every Premier League match every weekend, online or on TV, yet our own sports are locked down tighter than a drum.
  18. 1-2 looks so so much better than 0-3. A win next game and it's a fresh slate.
  19. I meant this was only a slightly better than average start for Correia. 3 runs allowed in 6 innings equals a 4.5 ERA. 2 runs in 6 innings is 3. His ERA last season was 4.18, so somewhere between 2 and 3 runs allowed over 6 innings. This was on the slightly better side of that average. Here's another way of saying that his start was nothing out of the ordinary. Last season Correia went 6 or more innings and gave up 2 or less runs 13 times in 31 starts, 42%, approaching half.
  20. Actually that was only a slightly better than average start for Correia. 6 innings, 3 runs, 2 earned. His ERA was only 4.18 last season. One run better than average. You're not going to get 6 shutout innings from Correia very often, but this kind of performance is well within his reach to duplicate every other start or so.
  21. Thrylos, I consider myself a pretty loyal Twins fan: so loyal that it goes beyond results. (root root root for the home team). I'm old enough to know that success for this team is cyclical, and won't sour on them for a few putrid seasons. Actually, stinking is good because the bandwagon empties out, and you get a colorful variety of non-standard MLB players to cheer for. I lived through the loss of the North Stars, and the near loss of the Twins, my 2 favorite teams growing up. I'm just glad to have them here, and have the opportunity to watch MLB here. You are right though, that I might have hated the Carolina Twins.
  22. I'm going with Perkins.
