  1. Came across this, with a nice video segment on the specialness of a 100 mph heater: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2047357-nick-burdi-prospect-profile-for-minnesota-twins-2nd-round-pick
  2. Here is an unusually positive look at the Twins' day 2 draft: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24582699/mlb-draft-news-and-notes-heading-into-day-three
  3. This will all play large in this kid's future. He has a lot to learn, and before we start printing playoff tickets with the Morales signing, I'm fine with this learning being at the MLB level. If he gets 300 ML ABs, and improves his defense, this season will be a win for him going forward.
  4. Pretty surprising. If Hammer and Arcia keep hitting, this season could get kinda interesting.
  5. If they pan out, you can flip them for other needs. Surplus pitching >> surplus RF DH 1b types.
  6. Reading Johnson's quote in the Star Trib this morning explained it somewhat, basically most the guys they wanted were gone by round 4. If a few of these guys pan out, a surplus of power arms is a nice problem to have.
  7. In the words of a former Twins owner, "I really like this kid."
  8. I liked the first 3 picks, but his draft is getting a bit one-dimensional for my tastes....
  9. I was at that game as well - he looked good until the defense let him down in the 5th. Agree with your assessment though.
  10. I see the bullpen in the Buxton Sano years ahead, and it looks hard throwing. More good value. Liking this draft a lot so far.
  11. I'm satisfied with the way the situation unfolded. The Twins already have enough middling vets clogging up the roster.
  12. An 80 fastball?! With a plus slider? Pretty nice value in the 2nd round.
  13. I was just there over Memorial Day to see the Kernels - terrific ballpark! That's the view from the $10 seats
  14. Sounds like they'd be all over Nola.
  15. I got to see one of those relief appearances in Cedar Rapids. I was unaware his numbers were so bad, and thought he threw well. Sorry to hear this.
  16. It would be fun to get someone who can pitch - throwing heat is nice, but I love to see command and the ability to change speeds. If those pitches have movement, all the better. He may not be Maddux, but the Radke comp would be fine with me.
  17. 10 million dollar loser. Can I have that job?
  18. Now we are into the nitty gritty of BPA. If there is a plus or plus-plus tool I want the Twins to focus on on, it aint speed or off-speed stuff, it's hitting, with hit for power a close second. So that'd be Jackson?
  19. Santana? Lotsa variables to be sure, but he just might be adequate.
  20. Remember my friends, the hindsight is often keener than the foresight.
  21. I think there are too many 1 inning relievers. If a guy mows through an inning on a handfull of pitches, let him roll. That keeps another guy fresh for the next day when your starter craps the bed. I don't think in any way that game had to do with matchups, especially replacing a righty with another righty.
  22. The guy that seems most replaceable to me is Matt Guerrier. I also think Logan Darnell would be an upgrade on a guy I've defended for too long, Kevin Correia.
