  1. Then again, we saw the same caution with Meyer and Gibson, who are huge guys.
  2. I think Nick Punto just got a new gig for 2016.
  3. May back to the rotation FTW
  4. He's definitely a pitcher; fun to watch a guy with command and a plan, no matter what the velocity.
  5. Wow Dave, saw the thread title and knew it was you. You're being very un-Dude man.
  6. Cherry picked? It would be if they were stats from May. Since when is recent form irrelevant? I wasn't aware that you had to strike out more than 5 per nine innings to be an effective set-up guy either. Agree to disagree I guess....
  7. This thread ignores the fact that before yesterday's bad outing, going back to July 30, Fien had made 19 appearances, pitched 21 innings, and allowed a whopping 3 runs on 16 hits, striking out 12 and walking 1. But now he's rubbish. Are we going to have these threads every time a Twin has a bad game?
  8. If you are pinning your present and future hopes for this team on having Berrios pitch for them this season, you might be suffering from tunnel vision. I would like to think this team is being built for long-term, sustainable success. Making the playoffs this season would be an unexpected bonus, a nice jump start to the process, but really, I expect the Twins to compete for division titles as early as next season.
  9. He's gone from low A to AAA in two seasons, not exactly holding him back.
  10. Nobody's saying he's not ready. What we know about the Twins in 2022 is about equal to what we know how Berrios would affect the Twins chances of making the playoffs in 2015, i.e. pure conjecture. He might come up and perform like Sano, or like Buxton. I do like the odds of that extra year being more valuable than a few starts down the stretch this year.
  11. We'll enjoy that extra year of Berrios in his prime, well worth a start or two at this point. Also, doesn't he usually get knocked around his first start or two at a new level, then settle in? No guarantee how well he woulda coulda pitched in the majors this season.
  12. Stephen Drew? I agree, and that would have cost the Twins a 2nd as well. Sometimes the best deals are those you don't make.
  13. I am actually the person who invented ramen with scrambled eggs. True.
  14. Maybe instead of drafting college power relievers and converting them into starters, we should keep them as relievers and build a fearsome bullpen.
  15. Looking at that video, Berrios reminds me of Kitty Kaat the way he stands out there before going into his windup. He looks like a strong young man.
  16. This series established a wonderful new norm: in hockey terms, it's called "battle level," and we saw a buttload from the Twins. Was this Molly's first ejection ever as manager?
  17. Here's to watching a meaningful game on August 23rd with a lineup littered with good looking long-term prospects. Nazdrowie!
  18. Given the way this guy can pop the mitt, and given his performance vs. Baltimore helps keep this crazy dream of a season still alive, all I can say, to quote Blur, is "woo hu!"
  19. Wait what? O'Rourke and Duensing weren't good enough?! Hope the ptbnl is Nolasco....
  20. I'd say Rosario 2015 is closer to Bostock 1975 than Santana 2014.
  21. Duffey has carved 23 points off his ERA in his last 2 starts. Keep it going young man!
  22. Even though he is getting hit here in the 8th, wow, I like the "battle level" Duffey showed in this inning. He challenged them to the end. Sure, a double digit lead helps, but I saw his no hit start vs Cleveland: this kid competes!
  23. Like the opposite field hit from Buck there.
