  1. This thread is proof that postulating a theory based on a single game is never a good idea.
  2. The big question is whether the Twins are better with or without him. This year the answer is pretty clearly yes. Next year, I'd hate to see Oswaldo or Kepler have a monster spring and end up in AAA because of Torii. No arguing the guy's charisma is just off the charts though, and I'd bet money it has had a positive effect that transcends advanced metrics.
  3. Because Stewart has only been dedicated to baseball since the Twins signed him, I wouldn't be surprised to see a breakthrough season next year. He's certainly a premium athlete.
  4. I'm naturally optimistic - pretty sure I expected good things at the start of the season. Santana's suspension, the the 2-6 start probably put a temporary damper on my enthusiasm though. Love to see a team built from the farm upwards.
  5. The optimist in me hoped the change in coaching would prevent us from losing 90+. The emergence of the prospects was a very peasant surspise though. Given that Arcia, Santana, and Vargas have dropped out of the picture, their success this season has been astounding.
  6. Not expected. Attained. 1 more win, the Twins are over .500 2015. One step at a time. This lineup plus Berrios. a full season of Santana, maybe a resurgent healthy Nolasco, a less gawk-eyed Buxton, a non-gimped Sano, a growing Rosario, continued goodness at 2nd, 3rd, SS with Escobar. Very happy Twins fan tonight, regardless of a single game carrot. 2015 is a win.
  7. Depth - we ain't flunking around any more!
  8. What a luxury to have Milone as a depth starter. 9-5, 4.04 ERA. This would be ace material the last few years!
  9. What a nice, basic win - pitching, timely power, damn. Well done Twins! .500 we be there!
  10. God Bless America for the 7th inning strech - that's "take me out to the ball game." I understand the emergence of it in NYC after 9/11, but seriously, isn't the Star Spangled Banner enough?
  11. Saw this snippet on the web on how he has been torrid, not horrid of late: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25318534 Happy to hear he's playing again - hadn't heard.
  12. Loyalty to a guy who has been here? I would have loved to see Kepler....
  13. LOL. I searched baseball ref for "Graham" to check out the particulars on JR, and of course, he was second on the list to "Moonlight Graham."
  14. I hope Kyle responds to this game the same way he did to the Royals game. He was putrid tonight - it happens. The bp has been stellar, and the offense is making a late arrival. Positives.
  15. Feel bad for Robinson or Pelfrey not to make it. Pelf can be great a single time through the order. Robinson has been a good 4th outfielder. Life is hard though. Cotts/Duensing will be the tough call - probably. Duensing's control has been so bad this season, I'd lean toward Cotts. They both are gone this off-season, no?
  16. Nice write-up: appreciate it. While not signing Cody was a bummer, it will help add depth to next year's draft with a 2nd and the 74th.
  17. Very sweet line for Santana, with a little help from Perkins: 7 IP, 5H, 1 BB, 7K. He's been money for what it is worth.
  18. The guy just speaks well, with intelligence and correct grammar, not too many ums or ya knows. This guy has legs.
  19. The future keeps getting brighter, and closer too. I feel like Wile E. Coyote at the entrance to a railroad tunnel.
  20. Dougie Baseball delivers 2 championships in 2 levels in 2 seasons. He might be kinda good....
  21. Torii will think he has something to offer yet on the field, in large part to his recent resurgence. And I will offer a tip of the cap to a 40 year old who has held his own against players nearly young enough to be his children. I also would like him to stay with the Twins organization, now that we have him back. The solution to me would be to give him a sweetheart deal as a roving instructor, or some such thing. He probably gonna want that farewell tour though, and after a respectable season, who could blame him? Doing right by your stars is important for an organization: otherwise you see Harmon Killebrew in a Royals uniform. The Twins gave up on Hunter much too early, and I think he deserves to go out in style, somehow.
  22. Is there still such a thing as a player-coach? I'd like to keep him around, but not as a full-time player. If he could be rostered as a coach, but still play on occasion, that would be ducky. He obviously will believe after this season that he has something to offer on the field, and who could blame him? He has been an upgrade.
