  1. Correct me if I am wrong - is the draft pool money only applicable to the first 10 round picks? Could they throw as much $$$ at a 19th rounder as they want?
  2. MLB thinks to think he won't be difficult to sign - at the worst he could end up a draft and follow, if that still exists. Eastman looks a lot tougher to sign. If they lock up one or both of these guys, that ups the draft half a grade....
  3. Like the sound of that young Puerto Rican battery rising through the system together.
  4. Well, the fact that he keeps kicking ass with the power at every new level means he is improving. One can only hope that he continues the same rate of improvement over the last two levels. The fact that he seems to be handling AA pretty well is very encouraging to me.
  5. Overall an interesting draft so far. They seem to have gotten some good value on several of the picks. I agree w/Dman, it's a nice mix. Hopefully they get them all signed up.
  6. They all show up on MLBs top 200 as well. No head scratchers up to this point
  7. 2 more hard throwers to add to the growing collection: difficult to recall a time when the Twins had so many promising pitchers in the system.
  8. He recently turned 21 - we'll see. It might take a 2-3 years to get his innings up to starter level, and if it works, with Gonsalves, lefty hell for our opponents. if not, Perkins replacement, or at least very valuable commodity for trade. I would have preferred a hitter, but I can see all the logic of this pick. Elite lefties don't grow on trees. Who was left on the board that you all wanted?
  9. I couldn't care less that Jay WAS a reliever. We got a fresh LH arm with power stuff, multiple plus pitches, and command. What's not to like?
  10. I think there will be value in this pick - one way or another
  11. Actually, none of the top three pitchers taken, up to pick 16, are bigger than Tate at 6'2". Our guy is 6'1. A trend?
  12. That's the truth Markos - I liked the Red Sox pick, but in my shortsighted manner, the Twins apparently got the best LHP in the draft. Filled a need, perhaps bpa, no complaints.
  13. Not one to toot my own horn, but TOOOOOOOOOOOOT
  14. And no command issues. Not who I was looking for, but I like the pick a lot. Here's hoping he isn't Ryan Mills 2.0. Looks like he has all you could want apart from "downward plane." Nice add to the system.
  15. 2. What is the deficinecy at 3rd base? 3. Mint was an excellent corner infielder, who probably can help players in similar positions. 1. Why trade one of youur best players for a future hope? I wanna see Sano make this a no-brainer, and he hasn't, either at the plate or in the field. For now, Plouffe is better, even if he isn't hitting moon-shots. Let the kid become complete without ML pressure.
  16. He needs to be a better all around player than Plouffe before he gets the call; right now, not the case. I'm fine with him staying on the farm all year, with maybe a cup in September. He missed all of last season, and he only just turned 22. He could be a perennial All-Star if the Twins work on developing him as an all-around hitter and good fielder. (This is an example of "cooler heads prevail" ) BTW, his current manager was a magician with the glove; I am happy with Sano learning something at this point
  17. Anyone else like Benintendi? I could just see him as Dozier 2.0, maybe even better. Pitching probably makes more sense, but I like what I've seen from this guy. I also like Tucker more than Cameron because of thehit tool. Sounds like he has all-around ability as well.
  18. Cameron would be a good candidate to drop - the Boras effect.
  19. I was hanging around the stadium on opening night - very fun atmosphere that extended all the way to Mears Park. Very nice add for downton St. Paul.
  20. I saw that too: "bad teams" like Boston, Toronto, and Tampa Bay.
  21. More importantly, Red Sox, losah!
  22. I liked to see some gamesmanship from Hicks - yeah, he might have caught, and he might have suffered a major injury going for it. It showed me game awareness and gamesmanship, two things you wouldn't have associated with Hicks last year.
  23. Wow, what if Vavra is more than a Toby Gardenhire draft pick. He sure can hit. Like Felix Jorge a lot. Saw him mop up in Cedar Rapids last year shortly before his demotion.
  24. Makes me wonder what if the Twins had built around Hunter instead of Mauer. Hindsight is 20/20, but it's kinda hard to believe we just let this guy go, charisma and all.
