  1. Whaddaya know, another dramatic game 163 with the Twins. Left they were leading 3-0, come back losing 5-4. I fear that game ending BP in NY. Well, play the damn game and see what happens. Just saw the Buxton catch - hsmf
  2. A stunned silence falls on Yankee Stadium....
  3. Most improved: Berrios. He was worse than awful last season. Berrios 2016: 3-7, ERA 8.02, 74 hits in 58 innings Berrios 2017: 14-8, ERA 3.89, 131 hits in 145 innings. That is a complete turnaround. Buxton's numbers are better, but not to that degree: Buxton 2016: .225 BA, 10 HR, 38 RBI, .714 ops. Buxton 2017: .253 BA, 16 HR, 51 RBI, .728 ops, in about 160 more at bats.
  4. Ok, well, consider this the Husker Du version....
  5. Who can turn the world on with her smile....
  6. Do you think there will be Marney 9 in 9 teeshirts available after the game?
  7. Boy, Moya looks is funky as hell out there. He looks like a balk waiting to happen tho.
  8. Belisle looks like he's chewing on a dog dump
  9. The Cleveland paper rephrased a quote from Tito to the effect that the Twins had a bottomless roster. Kind of true, lots of tough outs 1-9 and on the bench. Hard to call an MVP out of it, but for me this team would be on the outside looking in without Ervin Santana. HM to Dozier, Sano, Rosario, Buxton, etc.
  10. Like to see Duffey working the fastball. Free innings to try something new.
  11. Hell of a wild card to be able to play. They should let him PH against the Tiger pen a couple times just to get that awkwardness out of the way. We have pinch runners galore if he actually gets a hit.
  12. You do if out of the 14 they are the handful you can actually count on.
  13. Smalley and Cuddy like this thread. All the better argument to NOT retire numbers.
  14. Hah, well played Dave. Your season prognostication skills outweigh your trade prediction skills.
  15. Especially when you can nab a Donaldson at 48, a Blackmon at 72, a Trout at 25, Sale at 13, Judge at 32, etc.
  16. Very good article. That Buxton webgem reel had me laughing and shaking my head.
  17. It would be hilarious to see them throwing drumsticks and mashed potatoes and gravy all over the locker room
  18. The Yankees full out celebrated with bubbly when they clinched as well. The Dbacks jumped in the ballpark pool. Maybe the lads will develop a taste for it, so I'd say enjoy the moment, and remember the feeling.
  19. My original avatar on TD!
  20. As I see it, one thing only will get Molitor fired at this point: losing that Wild-Card spot, and even that is iffy. How the team responds to ANY adversity as they try to seal the deal, I think therein lies Molitor's future. It would take balls of steel to fire the first guy to lead a 100 loss team to the postseason the very next year, especially a pretty popular hometown guy and HOF laureate.
  21. That 82nd win is pretty special: return to winning baseball, relevance, possibly the post-season, the whole shebang.
  22. Gibson has become fun to watch again. He looks determined out there.
  23. Eephus, that is the exact example I was gonna put out there. Tim Young scored the overtime winner that broke the curse in the playoffs, and the Stars rarely lost there again.
  24. Worked for Boston and Ortiz. Each case is unique. Mauer is a pretty special athlete who seems to have finally gotten out of a long funk, concussions or whatever. His experience, athleticism, demeanor could all be valuable assets going forward. Agree now is not the time to do this, and I think the best situation would be an overture from Mauer's camp this off-season that gave him a couple more years at a nice price. He sure didn't cut the Twins a hometown discount last time around.
  25. Love the joy a foul ball brings to a child !
