  1. How hard does Peterson throw? He sure has put up great numbers in his pro career: 123 IP, 75H, 178 K, 1.60 ERA
  2. Nice to see Eades and Slegers too - our high pick college starters who had rough starts are picking it up now. Again, when has the Twins organization ever had this much pitching throughout the system?
  3. This is good news - I like giving our top propsects a taste of what they are in for, even if they don't stick the first time around. I think the legacy chestnut of "Twins slow to promote" can be laid to rest this season. The escalator is running fast.
  4. Torii keeps the nipple motif going in the post-game interview. Pretty funny.
  5. Wow, two extra bases for Buxton from what most players get. I know it's just the White Sox, but coming out party tonight, the speed, the arm.
  6. I would be happy to pull his name off my "first round bust" list. Those are some fine numbers.
  7. Sorry if this has been discussed already, but are pitchers approaching Mauer differently than in the past, or are his troubles the result of past injuries? I know he strikes out a lot more and walks a lot less, which makes me wonder if the book on Mauer has changed.
  8. He sure is a top prospect now I would think.
  9. I'm reading this right now - his is certainly an interesting story, and considering he accomplished what he did while playing through injuries is remarkable. Pretty similar career to Puckett really, minus the championships. Given his role as good-will ambassador for the game of baseball on top of his career, I'd love to see him enshrined eventually.
  10. This is the shot in the arm this team needed right now. Give us some top-rated rookie to feast on!
  11. Normally I'm a "lock down 1-10" guy and am happy if they do so - I dont't remember a draft where the Twins took so many "signability" picks in the later rounds as this one. I guess we still need to sign the 1-10 guys to keep the pool money, but I can see why they made the picks they made at 6,7, 9, and 10 now. Any slot savings on guys like Moran, Wade, and Miller can perhaps help lure in Wilson, Eastman, Murray, etc. I just hope the Twins scouts developed good relationships with some of these kids that will help us get them inked.
  12. If the Twins manage to sign one or two of these later round higher end guys, I will be quite happy. One only wonders why they didn't draft some of them earlier....
  13. Correct me if I am wrong - is the draft pool money only applicable to the first 10 round picks? Could they throw as much $$$ at a 19th rounder as they want?
  14. MLB thinks to think he won't be difficult to sign - at the worst he could end up a draft and follow, if that still exists. Eastman looks a lot tougher to sign. If they lock up one or both of these guys, that ups the draft half a grade....
  15. Like the sound of that young Puerto Rican battery rising through the system together.
  16. Overall an interesting draft so far. They seem to have gotten some good value on several of the picks. I agree w/Dman, it's a nice mix. Hopefully they get them all signed up.
  17. They all show up on MLBs top 200 as well. No head scratchers up to this point
  18. 2 more hard throwers to add to the growing collection: difficult to recall a time when the Twins had so many promising pitchers in the system.
  19. He recently turned 21 - we'll see. It might take a 2-3 years to get his innings up to starter level, and if it works, with Gonsalves, lefty hell for our opponents. if not, Perkins replacement, or at least very valuable commodity for trade. I would have preferred a hitter, but I can see all the logic of this pick. Elite lefties don't grow on trees. Who was left on the board that you all wanted?
  20. I couldn't care less that Jay WAS a reliever. We got a fresh LH arm with power stuff, multiple plus pitches, and command. What's not to like?
  21. I think there will be value in this pick - one way or another
  22. Actually, none of the top three pitchers taken, up to pick 16, are bigger than Tate at 6'2". Our guy is 6'1. A trend?
