  1. Wright was actually my favorite player for the pick, so he was at least on my radar for what it was worth. I remember liking Greene and wanting to stay away from McKay (the idea of a two way player seemed more likely to be not good enough at hitting and pitching). I think it should be worth mentioning how drafting Lewis at #1 allowed the Twins to go under the slot and spend more on their 3rd rounder Blayne Enlow - which didn't pan out but at least Lewis is a stud. Although it seems like all of the guys who went early are plagued by injuries, but that is just how it goes in this era of baseball.
  2. I'm excited to see Festa pitch in the majors, as it seems to be a rare thing when a top pitching prospect of ours is dealing at AAA. Thankfully the major league rotation has been really healthy so far... knock on wood.
  3. Duran going two scoreless innings might just do it, if they win in the bottom of the 10th his WPA should be very high.
  4. Especially with the bases loaded, that made zero sense. You have Lewis and Jeffers on the bench!!
  5. Welp, we are getting the pumpkin start today.
  6. The Vikings were never getting anything, there wasn't any precedent for that. If that were so, the 49ers and Bears would be entitled to picks as well since Mooney and Woerner were part of the tampering. The NFL isn't going to start doling out to picks to teams that are "victims" of tampering, but they really aren't victims. They just don't want teams tampering with players/coaches under contract with other teams or significantly before FA starts.
  7. From the past two days: Varland up for Castillo, then earlier today Castillo DFA’d and Varland optioned so Jay Jackson can be added to the 40 man and recalled.
  8. I thought it was questionable that Thielbar is the highest paid member of the bullpen… I don’t understand how it’s an ego thing. I don’t buy that it’s solely a Rocco thing, the front office clearly wants him to continue to script out games like this or this would have changed by now. It’s a collaborative decision premade alongside other cooks in the kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m for Rocco getting sacked, but only alongside Falvine going too - they’ll just hire another guy who will execute their plan and the same criticism will mar the new manager as well.
  9. Jax is shoving! Hopefully Duran can do some shoving too.
  10. It seems the Twins aren't the only team with a fascination for Jake Cave... do they really not have a better player at AAA? He's playing at a sub-replacement level rate.
  11. You'd think teams should be able to review if a ball was fouled off a bat or not... pretty ridiculous to see the ump declare it a passed ball despite it defying physics if that were true.
  12. What a wacky 10th inning, 3 HBP and Margot gets 2 hits in an inning... despite that the fact that he struggles to get 2 hits per game whenever he starts. We'll take that!
  13. He shockingly has a better batting average than Kiriloff... and isn't Margot 0 for 18 pinch-hitting? Maybe this is time for hit #1.
  14. I was tuning in on the radio, hearing that Paddack had "settled down" after giving up 4 runs in the first... and now there are bases loaded in the 4th inning. I also don't think I've heard radio announcers complain so much about a strike zone before.
  15. Glad to see Castro at 2B. Hopefully he isn’t too rusty.
  16. Nice game for the bullpen, I'm starting to gain some trust for it again. It would be nice if Okert could keep this up and become the top lefty in the pen.
  17. This is disappointing given the number of struggling veterans on the team. We always debate how much rope the vets will get, but it always turns out to be longer than you'd think... or hope it would be. We should know this by know. So Farmer is the only other player to start a game at 2B this year... despite having .160 OPS lower than Julien. Castro has barely played there as a Twin but he has handled it before, playing over 700 innings at 2B in 2021. I would hope he gets time there because of his bat.
  18. That explains why his OPS is at a career low... 792! That's a sign of a good hitter when that is his career low in Year 5.
  19. Feels like Vazquez has 20 runners thrown out this season - they need to stop running on him. Alvarez is a beast, easily one of the best hitters in the game, and already 2 HRs today.
  20. Woof. Abreu was hitting .280 OPS and was at -1.7 WAR coming into today.
  21. It might be time for a Ryan clunker just because he's been pitching too well recently. Feels like that's how our rotation has been pitching this year.
  22. This lineup has some high highs and low lows!
  23. Weird things are happening in our rotation... Lopez is flopping and Ober is doing a Jekyll-Hyde impersonation. And SWR's numbers are still hard to believe.
