  1. You have to wonder if Baldelli put in a word for Fitzgerald since he's part of the Dodgers front office now? I have no idea if he's in any kind of role of influence but you would think he would have had some input on a former player of his.
  2. I've posted my PFF depth charts around here before, I think it'd be best to give them their own thread that I can update down the line. FYI, the grades are based on a mix of the players' 2023-2025 PFF grades weighted more towards recent seasons. Here is how the roster looked at the end of the year: The grades themselves are based on percentiles, with Elite being the top 10%, with each being the next 10% percentile with the exception being that Average is the 40-60th. Here is what the roster looks like with the free agents removed: Feel to leave comments - keep in mind that PFF grades are not gospel and I have problems with many of the grades.
  3. The Vikings somehow lost 3 rookie LBs on waivers this season (Dorian Mausi was the 3rd on cutdown day)... none of them are probably any good, but it made zero sense to let Keys go when they could have IR'd a player who was out Week 18. All that to get 30 year old LB Sione Takitaki from off the practice squad, and then didn't even give him a futures deal for 2026. From what I heard on draft day was that they were locked in at guard and wanted one of the three. For the record, I wanted Jihaad Campbell since he was BPA, but Kwesi and the collaboration seemed to get locked into certain positions. At least Jackson had a decent rookie year and should take a step forward in Year 2/3 so I won't complain about taking him there, but now the LB room has zero young talent. And almost zero NFL talent with Cashman only having one year left, Wilson a FA, and Pace Jr a RFA.
  4. Cool beans, I love a good stat study like this. If you could find a way to tweak the numbers to balance the weight of the hitters getting wins more often than losses and vice versa for the pitchers, I think this would be a fascinating stat to reference.
  5. I'm far more skeptical of Bradley... the guy has gotten 3 years to start in the majors and the Rays couldn't figure out how to coax better play out of him and moved on when he still had 4 years of control left for two years of a [more expensive] reliever. Seems like he is a mediocre starter and if any organization were to unlock him, it would be the Rays. Maybe his best fit will be as a reliever but I don't expect to see him in the pen until he has failed out of the rotation. Abel has only 40 major league innings under his belt compared to Bradley's 385, I am much higher on his upside. And from the Phillies' perspective, they moved him for one of the best relievers in baseball and still held onto their best starting prospect. Feels to me less like the Phillies giving up on Abel and more that they are trading from an abundance of options in their rotation.
  6. Good catch, though looks like he was another Terry Ryan signing (2015). I guess you can give them credit for selling high on him.
  7. I'm not convinced Kirk will have a lot of options to be a starter, I think teams will view him as a bridge QB or a good backup. He's going to be 38 and his completion rate and Y/A took a massive drop-off down from his already questionable 2024 season.
  8. Yup, it one of the biggest under-the-radar Twins stories that haven't been talked about enough. It's been only Arraez since the big Sano/Polanco/Kepler crop and that needs to change.
  9. They have quite a few good players to build around and a quality coach could flip that team around rather quickly. I'd argue it is easily the best job available.
  10. It's very common for at least one player on a minor league deal to make the club and a corresponding move is made. DFA'ing Kreidler would be a very easy move to make given that in this scenario Arcia has won the backup SS job over him. They probably want Kreidler off the 40 man roster and in AAA anyways, they're probably just waiting until the right time to do so.
  11. Fair, I didn't like that pick either but part of the complaint was they moved 3 third round picks to move up to take him, and at least he has looked really good when on the field. And he actually forces them to put him on the field, especially in the redzone. #154 is around where I had him... but getting reps in blowouts isn't what I had in mind. I was thinking more like "Felton is playing so well in practice that he forces KOC to come up with some 4WR packages to put him on the field". He got on the field against the Packers today and drew a DPI, but also dropped an easy pass that was negated due to penalty. He looks more like a late Day 3 guy rather than a budding playmaker who is close to breaking out like TeSlaa.
  12. They locked up the #9 pick, good on them to lose all their games after the Mahomes ACL tear. Correct, he only missed 1 game in the past month.
  13. Yeah, it's a stretch to come up with any other names... Jay Ward got more playing time and looked decent. Not sure if he'll be trusted to start next year, but they really need 2 starting safeties (one to push Metellus back to his unique role as he isn't close to as good as a traditional safety).
  14. Same here, I can't believe they went over 8.5 wins after falling to 4-8. What a strange season.
  15. Huh? With better QB play, Thielen would have stayed on the roster and Felton wouldn't see the field. Once they cut AT, they've played Felton an average of 5 snaps per game. Better QB play has nothing to do with Felton getting on the field more, he was stuck with the 3rd team in training camp because he struggles to run routes and had a hard time catching the ball. He was at best a 5th round caliber prospect that they reached on because they wanted a guy who could return kicks and be a good gunner, which is a waste of a 3rd round pick when there were plenty of quality options that went after that pick. Heck, the Titans found two starting WRs in Round 4. Instead we took a project who was raw enough they felt they had to trade picks for Thielen, and barring a massive step up is not going to replace Nailor in 2026.
  16. We're going to learn this year that playing that kind of player was not just a Baldelli thing.
  17. Seattle's defense is the real deal... it might be enough to win the NFC. Their offense doesn't need to be all that good with how much the defense is carrying them.
  18. They probably want him in AAA and don't envision him as anything more than emergency depth. I guess they see Kreidler as marginally better. Fitzgerald's September in the majors probably didn't change how they see him. Would it be that surprising for this team to fill the major league lineups with placeholders over prospects? I think Martin will get plenty of chances, Roden less likely even though he has nothing more to establish in the minors. I still bet that Larnach gets moved but it's even more puzzling if he stays.
  19. Can't say I get this one... seems like they have enough mediocre 1B/corner OF hitters in the majors, but why not add another. If he sticks it would seem like Bell is going to be DH'ing more often than not, which as already mentioned dampens the value he brings. A Clemens/Wagaman platoon at 1B is incredibly underwhelming but I guess that's the Twins for you. Feels like Julien might not be long for the 40 man roster.
  20. Somehow, the Vikings might just be able to clear the initial 8.5 wins Vegas had on us. Which is wild given how much hope we lost when we hit 4-8.
  21. That's a very good point. I still see Matthews long-term in the rotation but I will bet that the other three end up as relievers.
  22. His job was already safe when he executed the trade deadline, it would be strange for them to can Falvey after trusting him to make so many consequential moves at the deadline. You don't entrust those moves to a GM on a boiling hot seat, and Falvey's moves didn't come off as someone desperate to save their job in 2026.
