  1. As ChiTown stated, Ft Meyers Beach is a place to stay away from this year. Right now it's over an hour to get on or get off. One place that you should go is Six Mile Cyprus Slough and it's only a couple miles down the road. Take a left out of the parking lot and it'll be on your right side, can't miss it. It's a walking trail through the Slough and you'll probably see things you never saw before, gators, birds, snakes pigs etc, on any given day. Not to worry, you walk on a boardwalk. Fantasy camp starts on Jan 6th I believe and I'll miss it. But I'm going soon, with no where to stay but Walmart lot in my little car! I'd better find something, and quick!
  2. Thanks for that link. I'd never read that piece before. And it described Harmon perfectly, he was kind to all and a real gentleman. I talked with him quite a few times and always enjoyed it. Probably the best instance was sitting on the bench in a dugout with Harmon and a friend of mine who had one of Harmon's first gloves he used in the bigs. Harmon had an interest in buying it back. Me on one side and my friend on the other. Harmon put on the glove and spoke of those early days. I put the glove on, it was a treat.
  3. Santana Duffey Gibson Milone Hughes That's with no spring training injuries or PED violations. If one goes down, Nolasco steps in, if two go down May steps in. Berrios joins in May.
  4. I too send a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all that visit these pages.
  5. I've been saying for a couple years that 2018 was going to be the year. It's a couple years out but interesting to think about. I like the fact that we have some young guys with what looks like bright futures. Not all will be as bright as we hope, but then there could be someone down there that takes off like a shooting star. It's also nice that casual fans this last year and moving forward are getting to know some of these young players that are future major leaguers. I haven't paid this much attention since Joe and Jake Mauer signed.
  6. I figured Joe was a shoo-in for the Hall, but that ship has passed. The last couple of years taken care of that. I thought the concussion had something to do with it, and probably did, but he really hasn't shown signs of shaking it. So maybe it's something else. His life has gone from making good money and dating Miss America and anyone else he desired to making a ton of money and being married with children. I have to wonder how much desire is still there. As noted by others, his approach hasn't seemed to change much. But it looks like he's lost just a split second reaction time. So when he does make contact the ball doesn't go where he wanted it to, and is resulting in outs. I'd like him to just screw that approach, just step in the box and hit the ball hard wherever it is pitched and take what comes. Maybe less weak ground balls hit at someone and instead blistering ground balls that just might still be at someone, or maybe get thru for a hit. It wouldn't take many hits during the year to raise that average to .300. If he could to that I just might start thinking Hall again.
  7. I'm with Nick on this one. May belongs in the pen, at least to start the season, and with a lack of injuries, the entire season. We have plenty of arms for the rotation, but really lack decent arms in the pen. I don't want to see meltdowns from the pen like I did last year. Pelfrey throws 5 shutout innings, Gibson has strong starts, etc, and we can't hold the lead for the last 4 innings. The second and third time thru the order seems to be a wall to often for the starters. Perkins has a huge question mark on him IMO, Jepson I've got more confidence in. A bridge from the 6th to the 9th will result in more wins and just maybe be enough to get us a longer season. Also, May in the rotation would just me one more number for Berrios to have to overtake.
  8. I wonder if they will commemorate any notable Twins locations there? Home plate (Gladden's run)? Puckett's HR? I would hope not! Nothing to ever remind me of that hump.
  9. If I do make it down this year there's going to be a lot of "who's that, who's this guy" flying around until later when they start sporting numbers.
  10. He said "a catcher, shortstop and second baseman" because he wasn't talking about any of those positions, but was about first and third.
  11. Why do you say Duffey will start in AAA, when TR has already said he'd be in the Twins rotation? And he's earned that spot. He'll start there until he shows he doesn't belong there, which may be never.
  12. TR said Duffey would be in the rotation and May this spring will be fighting for a rotation spot. And I agree, that's not incompatible with what Molitor is saying.
  13. I'm all for it and it's about time. This will save a lot of ouchies. It took me several times to not reach for a screaming ball and getting a stinging hand. Those balls are hard! It's amazing someone hasn't been killed dead on the spot by now.
  14. I doubt there will be a BIG move.
  15. LaTroy Hawkins. First met him when he came to camp with the Twins. I liked him right off the bat. Enjoyed his list here and was surprised at a few of the names. He certainly played with some great ball players. And I have to believe he grew as a person and a player, and became even a better man through his career.
  16. IDK, Danny Santana taking the mound every fifth day could be worse.
  17. I'm with Seth on this, and TR mentioned it yesterday, Duffey will be in the rotation. He also inferred Santana will be in center. He also mentioned he'd be getting another outfielder and pen help.
  18. He also mentioned Santana and wasn't sure why he had the problems he did at SS but hoped being back in center he would get back on track. He also mentioned a lot of guys are doing good in winter ball.
  19. TR was just on the radio with Sid and Dave. Some of the things he said follows. He's still high on Kepler. May will go into spring training competing for the rotation. Hunter could come back in some in some way (not as a player). He will sign an outfielder and relief help. The starting rotation as of now are Gibson, Duffy, Hughes, Santana and pretty sure he said Nolasco.
  20. Good for Cuddy. Great guy I followed since he first signed with us. There was something about him that just drew me toward him. I watched him grow and got to know him some. It was enjoyable. My, how time flies!
  21. That's quite possible. Plus he will be throwing the football around with Perry, and you know Perry will have his eyes on Sano's weight. He'll be on the scale a few times a day. That and the fact that other Twins will be there working out can't help but get his mind on the season and off of winter ball. Perkins is there now and will be til around Jan 21st. I can't help but wonder how many 100's of miles Sano will put on between now and the start of camp.
  22. Yes I really do. Been a fan since '61 and never disliked anyone more. He's got a losing air about him. Mark my words.
  23. I went with undecided because the uncertainty with Plouffe. With him we lose, without we have a good chance of going a long ways.
  24. That was good. Well worth listening to.
