  1. Today was the most organized day, lasting til after 1pm instead of around 11:30. They are doing more drills, taking live batting practice etal. Hughes was the first pitcher on the field I was at, followed by Small, and saw Nolasco later on the other field throwing pb. Also the stadium field was used for the first time. Something going on all over the place, and players hustling to and fro. Hughes will start against Boston wednesday.
  2. Interesting note, no Mauer sightings today. Watched Santana, Mastro and Buxton take bunting drills and Buxton really put on a show. If he could bunt like that in a game he'd never have to swing and still hit .500. I was impressed!
  3. Arcia will be on the team somewhere. He's better than Sano in the outfiield, and better than Park hitting thus far. I'll say though, park looked terrible at first but is looking much better recently. But I see no way Arcia is not on the team. It isn't doing Vargas any good not being here.
  4. Plouffe showed up today. Really a strong south wind this morning, with storms this afternoon. With that wind I knew balls would be leaving the fields so went back behind the fences in left. The new balls for spring training have an Interstate shield on them with FL in the center and 2016 Spring training on the top. Neat balls, and I wanted some. Where I was it's really hard to track them with trees blocking most views. I had picked up a couple when BAM, I took one in the gut. It then hit a car mirror and a big hunk of it landed at my feet as I doubled over. I have stitches now, or seams on my belly. Also some of these cool spring training balls. There's a new building out there this year towards center field and a few workers stood there and picked up a half dozen or so, and someone hit one on the roof!
  5. Yogi? Couldn't count to 4?
  6. I haven't seen Nunez yet either. I asked J. R. Graham how he lost so much weight and he said he gave up pizza and beer. What kind of life can that be?
  7. I for one enjoy listening to Ruesse and will miss it when he retires, as he told me he was going to. I find him entertaining. As far as Buxton starting, there are those of us down here who don't feel he deserves it, but can see the Twins hope in a couple of months he can learn to hit. I hope so, as he's a blast to watch in the outfield. But if he's still hitting .190 when June comes around, then what? As Ruesse says, if he could learn to hit the ball 40 feet, he'd be fine.
  8. From what I've seen, Murphy has a good bat with some pop. He's also going to be a fav with the ladies. i'd guess when the seasons over he'll have about half the starts.
  9. You were probably standing by me when Gibson signed.
  10. Oh happy day! Park put on a power display today with some traveling to the high school! There's hope.
  11. Did your son have a little notebook? Your wife blonde? LOL, I do people watch too.
  12. At least 15 more players showed up today. Some catchers which will help, John Hicks was one, and probably Garver. Max Kepler is here today also. Pitchers did about nil. BP was on 2 fields with all the players now. A bunch of the major leaguers asked Lepel if they could use the stadium clubhouse instead of the minor league one, that they would show up early. He got the ok for them, and most are later than ever.
  13. A lot of us down here watching are hoping Park is working on something, because he's shown squat so far. Arcia is light years ahead of him. Maybe it just takes awhile to get started, and I heard in Korea they train differently before the season than here. No Buxton here yet, but I think he starts in AAA. I do think Nolasco could be in the rotation.
  14. JR Murphy did show up Monday. Also a few other catchers so Tommy gets a bit of a break. Rain over night so no batting practice on the fields today, and they locked the fence so we can't get in to the bullpen at Hammond where the ML'ers throw. Eddie Roserio also came in today. Slowly, but surely.
  15. Well, you're not always 33 are you?
  16. I wouldn't say Walker is over swinging, Arcia is taking his usual hacks. I'll tell you this, Arcia is going to be very dangerous if he can stay in the strike zone.
  17. Plouffe is not here. Walker hit several long balls, as did Arcia. Only 8 players hit today, as not many position players are here.
  18. Not all day games are played in bright sunshine. I feel moving to Target Field hurt Joe a lot. He's just not strong enough for Target, most home runs in the dump were into the first two rows, which falls short at Target. I just hope he can get back to hitting .300 plus for next season. He's certainly a drain on the team at the rate he's been lately.
  19. That's got to be a joke as the best hitter was A B Walker. Today the ML pitchers used the pen in the stadium, and probably will from now on. 9 of them pitched to Tommy Watkins. Only catcher here is Alex Swim.
  20. Nick Punto once told me he made $800 a month when he started. It's gotta be more than that now.
  21. Nothing much new here. Guys are late showing up this year. No sign of Sano in a week. Hughes was here one day after the fest, but no since. Things wrap up around 11.
  22. I asked Arcia yesterday how long he'd been here. He said after the season he took 10 days off and then came and has been here ever since. He knows what's at stake and is busting butt, and having a good time doing it. I see no attitude. Today during bp, 5 swing rotations he launched 4 of 5 over the fence. I don't see us giving up on him.
  23. Park said his wrist was fine today and practiced with the others.
  24. Today Pressly showed up. It was also the first day of batting practice on the fields, with Phil Roof throwing. Sun's shining, a nice day for a change, in the 60's.
  25. OH MY! LOl. Ruesse showed up a little late the other day and the players were gone. We stood around, a few of us bs'ing. With nothing for him to do, he interviewed me, and it's in the strib today, along with a buddy of mine. To funny!
