  1. I think it is a consequence of two things. First they favor bats over everything else in player valuation. So they tend to accumulate a lot of players who aren’t super athletic or good with the glove. Second they emulate the Rays in that they think even mediocre fielders can play multiple positions when they really aren’t that good at one position. Obviously the FO is smart enough to figure this stuff out but that is what they value. I just disagree with it.
  2. What was Martin doing at the fence?
  3. The whole team. The Twins are not consistently fundamentally sound. And it’s been that way for several years. As I’ve posted many times sometimes it costs them sometimes it doesn’t. It’s likely to cost them tonight.
  4. Well since they have played sloppy frequently over the last several years I don’t think it is going to be a wake up call.
  5. Santana is earning his money tonight.
  6. Left side of the infield has been less than stellar. Anyone can play anywhere right Chief?
  7. No doubt. Shouldn’t have been an issue.
  8. We just disagree. The ball was beat into the dirt in front of home plate and bounced twice more.
  9. Cool. I’m glad you got a kick out of it. Lee is as advertised from scouting reports: soft hands with a strong arm but not enough lateral quickness to be a big league SS.
  10. Great story. How does Rube Walberg even get discovered in Pine City at the turn of the century?
  11. I’m happy that he has put himself back in the conversation at least. Great story.
  12. With the payroll limitations I would say Miranda is the default answer. Julien and Kiriloff can battle it out to get some starts there and DH.
  13. I believe we read an article like this every year. It’s kind of silly. Do we think we are the only team with good players hurt that will come back around the deadline?
  14. If you are just quoting Passen then that isn’t our FO talking. I am unaware of any statements regarding payroll made by the FO or Joe Pohlad in quite some time.
  15. No quibbles other than they have to keep Camargo. While I wouldn’t count on him I wouldn’t give up on Canterino unless absolutely forced to. I would love to add Margot to the list but Martin just won’t seize the opportunity.
  16. Will be interesting to watch it unfold. If the Twins pocket this money, well let’s just say Twins Daily will be quite active. I don’t have any idea what they will do but I have no doubt that it wouldn’t bother them a bit to take the money and do nothing.
  17. That would make sense. Fingers crossed it facilitates a trade for a good starter.
  18. Has MLB stated when the amount will be determined and when the clubs will be notified? If they don’t specifics before the deadline it won’t do much good for this year.
  19. I think you are spot on. Martin and Julien in particular are contributing next to nothing and should be optioned to see if they can gain some confidence with the bat. I predicted some strong regression for Julien as his babip last year was not sustainable and his unique approach was certainly going to be adjusted to but the guy has just cratered. I would give Lee a little more run but he has to get a few hits somewhere along the line. I think the chances of Farmer or Margot getting cut are almost nil.
  20. Because he can get the qualifying offer the return will have to exceed that value. That would be something like Keaschall or better. That’s a lot for 10 starts. The time to add a starter was last winter and the Twins made a mess of that.
  21. Correct. We will know after it happens. At that point we judge them by their actions and not their words.
  22. Someone needs to tell the Phillies that long stringy hair isn’t a good look.
  23. Yea I’m not liking Festas chances against this lineup. He will need 60 pitches to get thru 3.
