  1. Geez, this isn’t football. There are seven weeks left in the season. I hope the Twins win today but there is a long ways to go.
  2. Audra Martin posted on X that Brock Stewart is having surgery on his shoulder and will miss the rest of the season. What started as a feel good story is coming to an unfortunate conclusion.
  3. I love Twins Daily but instead of trotting out the nth version of some story on the front page why not do a story on a kid like Tanner Hall. Where is he from? How old? What is his pitch mix? Does he have a prominent strength or a glaring weakness? Seems like a missed opportunity for TD writers looking for content.
  4. If Bally offers $25 more the Twins will fall all over themselves to sign up.
  5. If Bally offers $25 more the Twins will fall all over themselves to sign up.
  6. I don’t know about an extension but what I do know is the Twins have nobody that can replace his versatility. Names like Martin Keascall have been thrown out there. They have zero chance of replacing Castros value. They can’t even play one position much less five. An extension is a tough decision but let’s not pretend that Castro can be easily replaced. He may not be able to be replaced at all.
  7. Good question. I’m not complaining because the minor league reports are great but a deeper dive on the higher profile prospects would be great.
  8. For sure Falvey could have done things differently but his parameters were dictated by payroll cuts. Our surplus was at second base - I wanted to trade Julien and a prospect to get one of Seattles starters. They had to trade Polanco to save the money and they screw that up. I’m not absolving Falvey of anything but the payroll cuts have been a huge factor in everything the Twins have done or not done since last season.
  9. They were forced to trade Polanco to free up payroll. As we learned that trade chip wasn’t going to bring in a good starter so we got DeScalfini. They were never going to sign a free agent starter.
  10. I’m glad Randy got some of the Pohlads money as he seems like a great guy. He is not the answer to any of the Twins pitching questions however.
  11. Me. When they screwed up the off season I posted (and have posted many times since) they were one starter injury from a big problem. Frankly it’s amazing they have made it as long as they have without an injury to their best starters. I know people are sick of rehashing this but this is on ownership.
  12. As I’ve posted several times before the Twins set themselves up to be one injury to the top three starters away from a big problem. If Ryan is out for a substantial period of time they are done.
  13. I still think Buck is very good in the outfield. I watch most of the games and I can only recall one ball that he flat out dropped. I do think he is playing conservatively in the outfield when the games aren’t close which might be why the metrics arent liking him as much (or it could be because they aren’t that accurate). But he can still go get it when he needs to. I think he will always be streaky with the bat but I will enjoy the heater right now.
  14. You are going to be disappointed.
  15. I don’t think there is anything to prove. Max is a good outfielder and an average to slightly below average hitter. If that works for a team go for it.
  16. I think your feelings are shared by many. And I can empathize with them.
  17. As always you don’t know what you have in a hitter, good or bad, until they have 1000-1500 at bats. I don’t care much about his strikeouts when he has that kind of power. It’s the meh hitters who strike out that cripple the lineup. I also think if you put him in right field he will get smoother and his arm will be a weapon. This will be especially true in the smaller right field at Target Field.
  18. I agree about health but specifically the health of López Ober and Ryan. The lineup has already sustained injuries but kept on producing pretty well. If any of the three pitchers go down for an extended period, maybe even as short as a 15 day IL stint it’s going to knock them out IMO.
  19. I realize that people are disappointed and are piling on the Pohlads right now but if you step back and look at their ownership tenure they have invited healthy doses of skepticism. They have threatened to move the franchise, threatened to contract the franchise and generally placed achieving fiscal goals as their top priority. So when they come off an off season like the one we just experienced, what do you expect people to think or say? I don’t consider the Pohlads evil incarnate but can anybody actually be shocked by fans being frustrated?
  20. Obviously we don’t know what was discussed between the Twins and other teams. I’m not disappointed that they made a bad deal because they were desperate. But 65+ players were traded so somehow other teams found deals to their liking.
  21. Huh? No it’s an observation of how the Twins have operated during the Pohlad family ownership. Nothing to do with Cleveland.
  22. This. People can argue this detail and that income stream. Just take a step back and look at the way the franchise has operated throughout their tenure and it becomes clear. They are going to operate the franchise with an eye towards meeting certain fiscal goals and hopefully winning some games along the way.
  23. This is a good point. They could miss the playoffs as easily as they could make them. And if they miss them the Twins will have two groups of fans: angry in one and apathetic in the other.
