  1. Agreed Doc. Really enjoyed the game. First time watching Ellwanger pitch. A bit like Hill lots of good pitches that need to be harnessed a bit but he was 98 consistently with a good old fashioned curveball. I don’t know if KPepper will be a big league SS but he’s a really good athlete that will play somewhere. I really hope the Twins commit to some of these guys. Don’t rush them to the bigs but when their development is finished in AAA bring them up. This franchise needs to turn the page and these guys are worth giving a good shot.
  2. Just let the guy play. I like that he is an “all around” hitter so I will take whatever power happens naturally while maintaining that overall batting profile.
  3. Interesting. It might be deserved but I don’t think Zoll has the cajones to make that move.
  4. I’m still anticipating the Twins will add someone released by another team to fill this role.
  5. I am very interested in finding out I think it is a given that big league pitchers are not going to let him sit there and walk a lot. He is going to have to make them pay when they fill up the zone. If he can make enough contact we are onto something If the swing and miss prevails we have Julien all over again (with the bat). It sure would be nice to have an athletic outfielder that can run a little in the corners.
  6. Funderburk is not a young pitcher and outside of 20 innings last year he hasn’t been very good. The best possible outcome for the Twins is if Chafin and Rogers both pitch well and get flipped at the deadline. That will be worth more than giving Funderburk the job out of spring training. He will get plenty of chances no matter what.
  7. Read this before I checked the box score. Thinking I would see an Ober implosion but he pitched 4!innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run. Velocity aside, sounds like a good outing.
  8. This. Gray and Kreidler could go a month without getting a hit.
  9. Feel bad for him. Finally going to get his chance. I wonder if it is his first one - makes a big difference.
  10. The last step in prospect development is the most treacherous one, and lately the Twins have seen a lot of prospects stumble at the gate. Sometimes it's injuries, other times it's not being able to adjust once the league gets a book on you. (sometimes it's both with this star-crossed club!) I think this is not understood enough by most people. The last step is the hardest.
  11. Schobel made a couple of nice defensive plays and has a little pop. I wish he could play a little SS as he could be a utility guy. Gray and Kreidler look like they could go a month without getting a hit.
  12. Full disclaimer: I’m not a big Funderburk fan - no control and he dawdles on the mound. I would keep Chafin as I think he will actually be better and Fundy will get called up soon enough.
  13. The IL might decide the final roster. Really enjoying Molitor on the broadcast. Makes his point succinctly and lets the broadcast breathe. You can actually hear the sounds of the ballpark.
  14. Keaschall in the outfield is a bad idea. He looks like a dog trying to catch a frisbee. He’s also has some concerning throws from an arm strength perspective. I’ve seen a couple one hop throws from left field to third base. This is classic analytics overthinking by our FO / manager.
  15. I believe that Abel is the better pitcher now and has more upside. For that reason I would start him in St Paul to get the extra year of service time. Then he comes up and never goes back.
  16. Good news. Hamstring injuries can be lengthy. I hope they go slow with him in hopes he has no setbacks and is setup for a healthy season.
  17. I hear ya. Hopefully he’s healthy and just trying to get his mechanics straightened out. Even as is he would still be an acceptable #5 starter. We need all the starters we can get.
  18. It was crazy how easily Lee beat out that bunt and the bunt was just pushed over to the left side. This seems like something teams should be doing against the shift. Keaschall/ Martin / Larnach in the outfield……woof.
  19. I dont worry about the power aspect. He apparently has a sound swing - don’t mess with it. The power will develop as he matures and gains experience as a hitter. I don’t have any pre-set expectations for this year. Get healthy, gain development in AAA and come up to the Twins when it is right for his development. Does anyone know if he has resumed baseball activities yet?
  20. We will eventually find out through their performance. If I had to guess I would say yes in the field. Kpepper has the stronger arm and greater speed and athleticism. I’m not high on Lee as a SS but I give him credit for having good hands and turning routine plays into outs reliably. Anyone’s guess on who ends up being the better hitter. Both could succeed or fail but I look forward to finding out a lot more this year.
