  1. Hopefully you are correct. Does he have options?
  2. Did not know they existed. They look cool and I’m no gamer.
  3. Couple good points here. Those two succeeding basically skips a rebuild which I didn’t think was realistically possible. We still need one of the AAA outfielders to come through as well as K Culpepper but they aren’t far off if those two are the real deal. Your choice of Liriano and Erickson is interesting because they were so good but both got hurt and really weren’t the same after so there is that.
  4. He’s doing something different which is a start. We will see over the long run if he is a substantial improvement. Just stay out of the baseball side.
  5. Again, spot on. Plus there is the common sense notion that if your starter is dealing to bring in a reliever brings in the possibility that he just doesn’t have that day and coughs up a lead. They are human they aren’t always going to be good so ride the guy that’s having a good day (within reason).
  6. This is correct. The question with Buxton wasn’t if he was good enough it was would he ever stay healthy. With Royce we don’t know if he is good enough or healthy enough. No way I would extend him
  7. This is fun - there might be something to low expectations. The lineup is just different enough that perhaps we can be better scoring runs than the last couple of years. Very unanalytical observation here but it feels a little different having some guys that can run a little bit. For sure this latest streak has been boosted by guys getting hits with runners in scoring position which has really been a problem in the past. I’m liking the way Shelton is handling the pitching - a little less rigid which is helping out the bullpen. Small example is getting two innings out of Acton last night and saving another arm. I’m going to enjoy this while it lasts.
  8. I listed him as one of the bright spots of the early season but you have identified the other shoe that will drop. Teams are soon going to quit walking him and make him swing the bat, that’s when the rubber will hit the road. I think he’s played well in left but not so much elsewhere. He can make things happen on the bases but he also makes plenty of mistakes as well. So I hope he gets a steady run to see if he can get some hits, build on some solid D in LF and clean up his baserunning. Let’s see what we got.
  9. Thanks. These are the types of plays that don’t make the box’s ore but can really affect a game.
  10. Looks like Taj had some control issues like “old” Taj. So helpful to be able to strike guys out to get out of it.
  11. I didn’t see the game. Fill me in on the play you are referring to.
  12. Hopefully he thrives in the pen. Then add Festa when he is ready and maybe the pen looks different.
  13. Interesting. Where did you get that info? The technology for electronic line calling in tennis has a margin for error of 3 millimeters which is way more accurate than nearly a half inch. Not implying your info is wrong just surprised about the difference in the accuracy of the systems.
  14. Time to add Josh Bell. I don’t think he will keep it up but he has really helped with this good start.
  15. I’m a little surprised at how many walks he is drawing. I think the advanced scouting reports will soon call for pitchers to challenge him more.
  16. I just don’t see an issue with what happened. The ball clipped the zone, just barely but it did. Perfect pitch. It would actually be unfair to the pitcher not to overturn it.
  17. Couldn’t agree more. One of the things this FO doesn’t do well is make decisive playing time decisions so you can find out what you have or don’t have. He’s 27, there are guys behind him, play him and find out.
  18. The premise is stupid. No matter where you set the boundary there are always going to be balls that barely clip said boundary. That is what the “black” on the plate represents. Perhaps the real problem is Royce didn’t perform.
  19. Yea sometimes when Royce gets a hit I have to doublecheck and make sure I’m not watching game 7 of the World Series.
  20. The Twins obviously don’t view it as an issue that demands an answer since this style of lineup construction has been their MO. Since this topic has been beaten to death on this site I will just say the Twins need better hitters period.
  21. Completely agree. He has been less rigid than Rocco. Another way it plays out is getting an extra out or two from the starter and then bringing in a reliever in a good matchup instead of insisting on the reliever coming in at the beginning of the inning.
  22. Good observations-I pretty much agree with all of them. At the beginning of the season I had three areas of concern: bullpen, defense and consistency of hitting. The defense has been bad and is not likely to improve without changing out players. The bullpen, somehow, is getting it done. Does Shelton deserve some credit here? The hitting is kind of what I expected - here today gone tomorrow. I think Martin is helping here as he’s getting on base a lot and stolen bases are helping too. I was hoping the change in managers would bring some accountability for mental mistakes and poor fundamentals but that hasn’t changed so far. As everyone knows the grind of a mlb season exposes everything so it will be interesting to watch it unfold. I’m taking it one game at a time and enjoying each game.
  23. Could not watch the game but happy for Lee. That guy could use a pick me up. I see that Orze threw 14 pitches - 12 for strikes. That’s a man after my heart. Did we play a clean game?
