  1. The big question with Miggy is whether can regain his rookie year approach. If not it’s not important when he comes back
  2. Many of us pointed out that due to the swing and miss nature of our lineup the offense will be inconsistent. And everyone except Falvine apparently knew our bullpen would suck
  3. He’s had 3 good starts out of 4. Coming off TJ I’d say that’s pretty good
  4. This is depressing. Romero has a chance the rest are where they belong
  5. I think we are finding out whether it is Molitor or Baldelli there is no such thing expert management of a crappy bullpen. This is on Falvine and their hubris
  6. The Twins are fun to watch and not just because they are winning. They have several really interesting players. I disagree with most about bullpen usage. This is smoke and mirrors and guys are pitching a lot. Not sustainable
  7. So what we gave up in draft pick compensation for Lynn nets is a nothing prospect. Another move that doesn’t move us forward
  8. My main concerns going into the season were the bullpen and the all or nothing nature of the lineup at the plate. I’ve been surprised by the bullpen but today is an example of the pitfalls of having a lot of swing and miss guys. Eflin was begging to get smoked and they couldn’t put anything together
  9. Very interesting. I hope that this new approach leads to greater command. I think most fans are too focused on velocity right now. Plenty of hard throwers in independent baseball
  10. If you have a bad bullpen the only thing riskier than signing free agent relievers is not singing free agent relievers. That had nothing to lose and did nothing I don’t get them
  11. Good article about a bad situation. How the boy wonders didn’t snap up a couple proven arms is beyond me
  12. Love the spring training optimism but this lineup looks like it could strike out a record amount and struggle to get on base. Lots of solo homers in our future
  13. So if you don’t hit the ball hard you hitting stats suffer? I didn’t know
  14. Their bullpen was bad last year. This past off season many free agent relievers were available for cheap. They did nothing to improve a bunch of question marks. I guess I don’t understand spin rates
  15. Don’t overlook the obvious. Sánchez was once a great pitcher. Pérez has never been which doesn’t mean he can’t succeed but the comparison isn’t apt
  16. Yep. Miggy is a conundrum. I think he has made mistakes but not necessarily this time around. Bottom line is that he needs to be on the field to achieve his potential and that is getting harder to envision
  17. I love Polancos bat and approach at the plate. He is not a SS on a great team but could be a plus second baseman. Frustrating that the Twins won’t make moves for the long term future
  18. Good question. I’m conflicted about this situation but am concerned that no matter the circumstances he is losing chances to advance his skills which is clearly necessary
  19. I have my doubts about Sano and started a thread a while ago about it. This does appear to be an accident but I am curious if he had shoes on during this celebration. It’s too bad that he apparently worked really hard this off season and will have a delayed start. He needs all the ABs he can get to figure out how pitchers are attacking him now
  20. 3 stories on bounce back candidates pretty much covers the whole team. Perhaps we should get players we don’t have to wish and hope that they will contribute. I don’t get this FO
  21. This lineup is based on whoever they could get for “best value” not who would construct the best lineup. There will likely be plenty of homeruns but plenty of strikeouts
  22. I’m trying to remember the name of the AAA pitching coach who taught Johan his circle change. Perhaps we need to bring him to spring training
  23. Even with modern usage starters are still more valuable. A smart front office would have signed any number of affordable free agents to fortify the bullpen so Romero could develop as a starter in Rochester. He would hopefully been ready to be in the rotation later this summer or for sure next summer when we have one starter under contract
  24. I totally understand the ranking status vs Gonsalves. Gonsalves has mediocre stuff that could be successful with excellent control. There is the rub: he doesn’t have it and hasn’t throughout his minors career. He has to develop much better control or he is a AAAA pitcher
