  1. My point is that we don’t have to accept mediocrity in the field at SS. Get a strong defender at SS and let Polanco be the best all around second basemen in baseball because he would be elite at second base
  2. The risk / reward on that play is ominous. The reason you don’t do it is there frequently is “the perfect throw”. It gains you so little advantage you should never take that risk. People need to analyze this like a poker hand and it would never happen
  3. Since the other thread got locked for some reason Laudner is the worst color commentator I’ve heard. He has to be gone. Good news is that Smeltzer and Thorpe look like two potential effective lefties for the future
  4. Get ready for pucker time. The Twins lead will be down to 5 at the All Star break
  5. I don’t know if Syndegaard is the right guy but all prospects should be in play with the possible exception of Graterol and Balazovic
  6. I think I see signs of progress. He is laying off pitches out of the zone lately and his swing looks a little more compact. Similarly even though he had an o fer I thought Buxton had a good day at the plate. He didn’t chase at all - swung at nothing but strikes
  7. This. There has been some sloppy baseball played in the last month. It hasn’t cost them too much but it will. This is where I would love to know how Rocco handles this stuff behind the scenes. Is it always kumbaya or is he getting after guys for dumb/sloppy plays?
  8. Just have him watch Garver in bp and then get in the cage right after and imitate him. He’ll never get that short and quick to the ball but he will get better
  9. Let’s not gloss over two errors by Adrianza. That’s the ballgame
  10. No pressure Jose. All we need is 9 scoreless tonight. Seriously this is a big start - have to stay out of the pen
  11. Huh? Forfeit the game. You and Dick share the same paranoia about extra inning games
  12. He needs to mimic Garver or Kepler. He would hit a lot of homers and be a complete hitter. That have much more direct swings to the hitting zone
  13. I love it. No downside and potentially quite a bit of upside. He has struggled lately but reached a level few do so there is that
  14. I’m happy for Sano. I’m critical of him but want him to succeed. I’m sure this stretch hasn’t been fun so maybe the homer will allow him to relax a little
  15. It’s a league of adjustments. He threw a wrinkle at them with the cutter and got lots of chases. Now the league has seen it and aren’t chasing anymore. That and he isn’t locating as well as he was before
  16. If all we have to give them is what we got for Pressly then I do this deal yesterday
  17. This. He basically has to get a cookie to do damage. This does happen from time to time but doesn’t make for a complete hitter
  18. I say all are in play for the right deal as there are areas of surplus. Both Lewis and Kiriloff have strong fellow prospects at their position. As long as we don’t deplete one position area I am fine dealing anyone. Hell we don’t even know if Lewis will end up being the best SS in our system. I’m thinking Javier might be the SS of the future. If you can get a stud controllable pitcher for him go for it
  19. Sounds like a nice second piece and could probably be had for jake Cave and a lower prospect. I don’t care that he doesn’t throw hard. He is getting guys out
  20. I believe the Sano defenders are equally missing the point. The guy can’t hit or lay-off an outside breaking pitch or catch up to a fastball belt high or above. Not the profile of a hitter that is going to produce against good pitching staffs. He has to seriously rework his approach at the plate
