  1. I would be the GM that TD hates. I would rarely if ever spend big money on a free agent. Instead I would plow that money into scouting and international signings. Scott Bowman kept the Canadiens dynasty alive by trading popular productive players before they hit their decline. Free agency is mostly fools gold.
  2. I think Kennys is going to regret his decision to play or sit in the WBC.
  3. It's an interesting topic. I'm sure it's real but quantifying it seems to be difficult. The count in which the "framed" pitch would be huge. The old 2 and 1 is way different than 1 and 2 theory.
  4. Perhaps it's not wise to stereotype people unless you want it done for people born after 1970.....
  5. Last year he threw fastballs and cutters.....and everything is hard.
  6. Hughes has never shown that he has good feel for off speed stuff. Comparing him to pitchers who do (like Radke) is misleading. I suppose he could learn a lights out change up at this point in his career but it seems unlikely.
  7. I think all of hope you are right especially because he seems like a good dude. However he lacks the variety you described in order to be successful with less velocity.
  8. I don't believe you are alone on that one.......but water under the bridge.
  9. Umm..no. it had nothing to do with it. MLB organizations have scouting resources well in advance silly sample sizes but rip away if you want.
  10. Castro is our veteran presence we don't need Giminez. Garver plays a lot in AAA and Murphy is the backup. Reevaluate in June.
  11. 90% of prospects fail if you consider how many start rookie ball. It's the nature of the game.
  12. I admire your optimism but don't share it. I think the starting pitching in this organization is poor from top to bottom. I actually am worried that the Era of Buxton and sanos controlled years is going to be wasted trying to find pitching
  13. This. Maybe even 3 months. There are so many players that need a last chance to see what we have and Vargas is one.
  14. He's one of many Twins that are at a crossroads in their career. They hold some promise but are old enough that the team can't wait much longer. I hope the Twins give him an extended consistent chance so we can find out.
  15. Unless they feel this guy will help the big league club i would rather have a hard throwing lottery ticket
  16. This sounds so difficult for a team with some of the worst pitching in baseball. Somebody should be expendable.
  17. I think this completely depends on. Who they have to dfa. They have obviously not gone all in so a signing like this is going to need to be flipped at the deadline in order to get value back.
  18. Certainly it's possible that it turns out OK I just don't see where it's probable. We have a few prospects none with ace potential and all have to realize their potential for the rotation to be average. I don't like those odds.
  19. We should set the bar accurately so we don't miss an opportunity to improve the club. I think Falvine misjudged the market for Dozier.
  20. I am usually a glass half full guy.....but I think there is a realistic chance that the Sano Buxton era gets wasted. The Twins simply have poor starting pitching and virtually nothing in the farm system. Considering that they aren't going to outbid teams in free agency and they don't have a surplus to trade (other than Dozier theoretically) I don't see a path where their pitching is above average during Sano Buxton controllable years.
  21. Falvey stated a the beginning of this process that they liked Dozier and were setting the bar high for any trade returns. I think this mindset was a mistake and lends credence that a realistic proposal was not going to be accepted.
  22. Not sure a 2010 scouting report means much in 2017. He was about 12...
  23. This. There isn't much risk in trading Dozier because without pitching we won't win anyway. Dozier is being way overrated on these boards imo.
  24. What a list. Hard pass. Go get a real arm for the bullpen as the rotation now is what it is. If the young guys are pitching well the vets can get flipped.
