  1. I don't know what is making me literally LMFAO more right now - the move itself, or the fact that two whole articles were written about this move. Next we just need to add two more light hitting infielders and one more left handed hitting corner outfielder and we're set.
  2. No doubt. At this point of the "do nothing offseason" for the Twins I would honestly be pretty pissed off if they did a trade that cost us one or more better prospects just for the sake of acting like they actually did something to better this team. For example, they way everyone was gushing over getting Dylan Cease the last week and a half. So we send probably 3 high prospects for a guy who plays every 5th day and who, most definitely, will not resign here. And if we did land him... well then what? What about all of the other holes that were not addressed? Can he play 1st base when he's not pitching? Can he pinch hit against a hard throwing lefty in the 8th inning?? Bringing in Cease at this point would be laughable and would only serve to waste future capital to use for trades when the Twins have new owners. He wouldn't remotely be enough to move the needle for 2025. This season, for all intents and purposes, is already over. The team didn't make the playoffs last year in a division that has three other teams that did actually improve their teams over the offseason who also all made the playoffs last season.
  3. Well - here I upfront know I would be paying $0.62 a game without knowing what I actually was paying per game with Xfinity and DirecTV. But I see zero scenario where there are going to remotely be 4.4 million interested households in the multi-state area. So maybe cut that down to, hypothetically, 2.0 million at best. And I would feel confident in cutting that number even lower considering the product the Twins are about to put on the field this season. The one huge plus I see here is that there is now a clear financial incentive to put a better product on the field. I don't know the breakdown of how much the Twins actually clear out of that $99.99, but let's say $50.00 per subscriber. Well, basic math says that you grab 100,000 more interested fans you bring in $5M more. 500,000 more fans and we're talking $25M - and so on and so on. However, the biggest hurdle that we Twins fans are going to have to face is if the Pohlad's still own the team for 2026 and beyond. Because last year they brought in $40M-$45M from Ballys. Looking at 1.5M subscribers alone at a hypothetical $50.00 profit is an amazing $75M in TV revenue. But all that could mean at the end of the day is only $15M more in payroll and $15M more in the Pohlads pockets. I think just having a new owner alone could bring that interested household number up over the 2.25M mark - hell, maybe even 2.5M households. BROOOOOO - THAT'S $125M IN HYPOTHETIC PROFIT!!! Please God let this team be sold.
  4. Without a change of ownership this is nothing more than hyperbole. There is no financial incentive for the Pohlad's to put a winning product on the field as Twins fans keep showing up and watching no matter what dumpster diving product is on the field. As long as ownership were to make a $500,000 profit while fielding a 100 loss team they would consider that a win and good business. The fans of Minnesota have never and probably will never force the issue and legit boycott the team and start costing the Pohlad's money. No Twins games for me last year (first time since 2009), no TwinsFest next week, and no games in 2025 either. That's all I can do to protest so that's what I am going to do.
  5. Again with this bad take. They have a lease with Target Field for starters that runs at least 2039 so that's the first problem in moving the team. The second problem is where, exactly, do people who make this statement think this new location would be? Don't you think the Miami Marlins or Arizona D'Backs or Oakland A's would already be there? It's amazing that people think that someone just buys a team and then moves it somewhere completely different the next year like this is "Major League" or something.
  6. I will say this, the trade "think pieces" that are always written on this site are great for comedic value. It's like the opposite of Rube Chat where instead of getting unbelievable players back in exchange for next to nothing, the Twins give up their best players for nothing of substance in return.
  7. Again with the Buxton Fan Fiction. Stop trying to make "Byron Buxton could be an MVP if only..." happen. It's not going to happen! The continued dialog that tries to act as if Buxton is not an absolute bust is maddening. He's shown us everything that he was, he is, or he ever will be. A BUST.
  8. "Rocco Baldelli, and he’s largely been a success story in terms of communication and results" Actually putting those words into writing with your whole chest is STRAIGHT WILD. "The Spreadsheet" has been the Twins manager for 4 full seasons and one COVID season before 2024. The team won the division 3 of those years - the Bomba Squad 2019, COVID 2020, and last season. His overall record is 381-344 (.526) and he is 3-8 in the playoffs. But remember, the AL Central has historically been the weakest and softest division in baseball the last several years, or so we are constantly told every year. And yet, with that being the standard set in this division, he still constantly runs an under performing team that is all or nothing when it comes to hitting. Home Run swing or strike out. The team doesn't bunt, the team doesn't steal bases, the team doesn't do any form of basic "small ball" under Rocco. Which is what quality teams and mangers do when the home runs aren't showing up. They find other ways to produce and manufacture runs. But Rocco's Spreadsheet doesn't allow for those kinds of moves, and thus, he won't allow himself to get beyond his analytics and Sabermetrics. He has NEVER had any instincts and ZERO ability to make changes on the fly. This is the Dennis Green scenario with the Vikings all over again. We keep around a guy who made the playoffs more times than not.... but he had no heart and no drive to take chances. And always collapsed when the pressure was on but we kept him around because he made the playoffs. He failed consistently in the playoffs, but we convinced ourselves that it was better to make the playoffs and lose horribly then to not make them at all. And this is where we are with the Twins. Yes, the biggest problem with this team is the owners and their lack on commitment to put a winning product on the field that can move on to the next level(s). But Rocco is a very close second as has consistently failed just as much with his refusal to change his thinking and logic which is, again, always based on The Spreadsheet. The FO is right there at third with allowing him to continue to run the team the same way he did in 2019. Regime change should always start at the top, but the owners aren't going anywhere, and I doubt they fire the FO because they fall in line with the self imposed budget restraints. So it needs to be Rocco and the hitting coach that have to be sacrificed because this isn't working this year, and it really didn't work great since 2019 either.
  9. Trying to get people excited about this dumpster diving move is straight WILD!!
  10. BA: .235 OBP: .297 SLG: .324 OPS: .621 G; 9 AB: 34 SO: 11 BB: 1 I guess your are right.... The Buxton we have all become very familiar is back!!! But yea, amazing catch that one time.
  11. It's becoming harder and harder to take this team seriously. We're down two top bullpen arms for several weeks and this is what they figure will help get the team off to a solid start to the season and stay competitive ??? It's like the Twins are trying to be the Happy Gilmore of baseball, "Come on down to Target Field and take a gander at the amazing 41-year-old soft throwing ball guy. Look at this zany and wild old guy trying to strike out these kids"
  12. All I can say is Thank God there are other options out there, however minimal, to raise revenue for the team. I've been praying that the multi-billionaire Pohlads would not have to kick in maybe $25-$30m of their own money to help keep their team competitive. Imagine how devastating it would be if the owners of an organization were actually expected to contribute some of their own plunders and were unable to find a way to pass these costs along to the taxpayers. It would be the End Of All Things. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pohlads during this extremely trying time.
  13. So, am I the only one who noticed that Buxton was on the Twins bench last night and not rehabbing in the Saints game??? Seriously... WTF was that? Are you kidding me? Seeing him on the bench last night tells me one of two things... either that was the most disgusting lack of commitment and drive I've ever seen out of someone who is supposed to be the face of this team. While it also shows what a joke Rocco is when it comes to demanding anything along the lines of success and a winning attitude from his players. It was more important for those two to share a moment throwing beer and champagne in the locker room than it was getting 4-5 at bats in at the Saints game and getting back in game shape for the playoffs. Or... I'm wrong and it appears that the decision about Buxton being on the playoff roster has already been made, and it's a no-go. Why else would he not be in the Saints game last night unless rehabbing further was no longer a concern? I'd also say that this would eliminate him for the entire post season because, if they wanted him for round two, he should still be getting in every single AB he can between now and then. If they were going to put him back in the Twins roster for the last few games, why was the move not made yesterday afternoon when Correa and Lewis got moved to the 10 day IL? So either some local reporters should be demanding an answer as to why Buxton wasn't playing at CHS last night (spoiler alert - they won't) or they should get an answer on if Buxton is now officially done for the year. Inquiring minds want to know!
  14. I'm just going to make this call right now.... The Spreadsheet is already whispering into Rocco’s ear and telling him that Dallas Keuchel has made 12 playoff starts in the past and he would be perfect to start a Game 3 on the road with all of that experience. Plus, The Spreadsheet is also reminding him that no one will ever see it coming just like no one saw that time Rocco went with a former Uber driver with five career starts in a playoff game in Yankee Stadium over Jake Odorizzi who had 15 wins. Dallas Keuchel will start a playoff game for the Twins.

The Twins are more likely to play Houston than then Yankees. And there is no #2 hardest team in any of those options. Each team is considerably better than the Twins are so no matter who they draw they're behind the 8-ball even with home field advantage.
  16. And JFC already... Just let the Gallo experiment end. "OMFG he hit a home run this week!!! HE'S BACK!!!" There is literally zero chance that Larnach could be worse than Gallo is. Absolute Zero. Gallo's last homerun was back on July 17th. In between that HR and the most recent HR here are his stats: G: 18 / AB: 41 / R: 4 / H: 5 / 2B:1 / 3B:0 / HR:2 / RBI: 6 / BB:6 / SO:25 AVG: .122 / OBP: .234 / SLG: .293 / OPS: .527 He struck out in 61% of his ABs. 61%!!! That's incredible. If Larnach came up and put up numbers anywhere near that trash I will Venmo the MOD $1,000.00.
  17. C'mon bro..... stop funning with us!! The Twins don't even have to add him to the 40 man roster for at least one more full year as he is not Rule 5 Draft eligible. So there's no way the FO wants to have to pay someone the league minimum if they are not legally required to.
  18. He will get lit up and/or destroyed almost immediately. But deep down ,we already knew that.
  19. Ladies and Gentlemen - THIS IS NOT A PLAYOFF TEAM!!! Sorry, but if your only ambition as a Twins fan is to just get into the playoffs by default and then get swept out by the Rangers or Astros and consider that a great season then you should probably stop reading now, If Gray were going to sign an extension with the Twins he would have done it by now. He WILL NOT continue to play for Rocco. That bridge has long since been burned. He 100% needs to be traded today as he could easily command either two better prospects and/or a bullpen arm with some years of control. Maeda is 35 years old and, again, if there were an extension in his future it would have been done by now. The Twins do not have any intention to bring him back. There is no realistic room for him in the rotation next year and he wouldn't come back here just to be the long man out of the bullpen. His return won't be great, but it would be something and again, maybe the Twins can secure a RP with some years of control. If not, take a lottery ticket prospect. This team will be so much better next year - addition by subtraction. Kepler, Polanco, and Gallo are gone and replaced with Wallner, Larnach, and Lewis. To give up more prospects for moves like they made last year at the deadline is criminal considering how much better this team will be in 2024 without bringing anybody new in today.
  20. Imagine 2024 Kirilloff, Julien, Correa, & Lewis in the IF with Brooks Lee looking to kick down the door in AAA. Wallner, Buxton, & Larnach in the OF and maybe Lane Thomas as the DH. Catcher is set for at least 2 more years. Ryan, Lopez, Ober, & Paddock at the top with multiple prospects laying in the AAA weeds. And at least Duran and Jax back in the BP. This is the primary spot that the FO needs to be concentrating on in any deadline trades and in FA. I, for one, am already excited for next year with a new manager and maybe a GM much better at drafting and developing talent.
  21. Lane Thomas is the only one that moves the needle, and that is for next year and beyond, not this season so much. Fan don't seem to want to accept that right now this is not a playoff team. They will get in by default and do not stand a chance getting by the first round.... again. Sorry, but it is what it is. However, the core of a solid team is already here and with the removal of Gallo, Kepler, Polanco, and the possible reduction of Buxton this lineup will win the division next year and with a solid SP core of Ryan, Lopez, Ober, & Paddock is a great way to start the season without a single addition. But to give away even more prospects to chase a first round sweep in the playoffs is just stupid and short sided. It sucks that Falvey and Rocco are fighting to keep their jobs for next year, but it's also their faults that they are in that position. But to further burn the future prospects even worse than they did last year at the deadline should be criminal. Once you can convince yourself that this team just making the playoffs is meaningless you will see things differently about how much better this team will be in 2024. Why?? All of this years dead weight will be gone.
