  1. What I miss in baseball today is that nothing seems to matter in the game ... Strike outs , baserunning mistakes , missing the cut off man and catchers that can't block the ball , ( there are not alot of good catchers in the league ) , passed balls or wild pitches , the official scorer usually sides with the wild pitch when my eye test says a passed ball by yesteryear standards , defense is definitely lacking at the catcher position in the league and a catcher is considered a good catcher because he can frame a pitch into a strike , WHAT A CROCK ... That's my plan and I'm sticking to it ...
  2. Sorry nick I have to disagree that it's not a pressing need ... Maldonado is a very good defensive catcher ... Realmato is said to be the best catcher in both leagues ... What do they have in common ,,, They are both in the world series and are defensive leaders ... Catcher is a pressing need and jeffers is not a number 1 catcher... A team needs strong defense from catcher , shortstop and centerfield for these positions and quality pitching would help too ...
  3. I don't know what to say that I haven't already said ... We need strength at catcher , pitching , shortstop and center field ... Catcher , below average for sometime and no depth , we should have picked up a good defensive catcher at deadline but the smartest FO in the room depleted our prospects on injury prone pitching again ( looked good on paper ) ... Pitching , able to be competitive and win games during the season but not post season playoffs games ... Shortstop , most likely gone but replacements prospects available if they can stick at the position ... Centerfield , one of the best defenders when healthy ...
  4. I think the manager needs to start managing and implement the running game more ... Other teams are going to attempt more chances and with so many bang bang plays with bases 90 feet , with just a few inches of difference in distance the bang bang play might just go away and less review challenges ... I'm looking forward to a running game that should bring some excitement , being last in rankings of 30 teams on stolen bases really just sucks , I hate being last so time for manager and coaches to get the boys in tip top condition and steal the show away from the other team ... Our pitchers / catchers are going to have their work cut out for them on the new rules and closer bases , we need the defense at catcher to improve ... We need defense improved throughout ... Go twins ... That's my plan and I'm sticking to it ...
  5. The FO traded away catcher last off season and put all their eggs in 1 basket with jeffers , not a smart move ... Again the FO has decimated a position believing they had it covered , again they did not ... See rosaries replacements in left field , we are still trying to find a permanent replacement in left field the past 2 seasons ... Jeffers has not proven to be a number 1 catcher , he can't throw out runners , to many pitches get by as wild pitches or passed balls ( not a good blocker ) and he hasn't proven anything yet as a hitter ... It takes 3 year to evaluate what a player capabilities will be , this will be his 4th ( 2020 was a SSS ) and last year to prove he belongs as our primary catcher ... Is he a leader we want , last year to prove it , Good luck jeffers we need you to really step it up ...
  6. You missed my point on Morris yes he signed only for a year and bolted .. My point is I would like more pitchers like Morris that had talent and wanted to finish what he started , he wasn't afraid to speak out ... It seldom happens anymore , the mental bulldog approach , the mad Hungarian , berenger ( senior smoke Jr. ) and more from that era ... Today how many , Verlander, scherzer that would emulate a bulldog like Morris , Castillo maybe or the Miami pitcher alacantra ... That's my plan and I'm sticking to it ...
  7. I wish the FO was more proactive in free agency ,,, FO says its risky in free agency and cost alot of money , TRUE ... But trading is expensive also for players that have come to us with injury problem and it's just as costly Iwhen you deplete your prospects for these injured players ... FO has not made alot of savvy trades , they should change and try the free agent market once again , Their first off season they went and signed in free agency , Castro catcher , bullpen , Reed and a lefthander relief pitcher with a last name starting with a D , since that first year they haven't splurged for good quality free agents ... as the twins fans say , the FO likes to go dumpster diving , well the FO is stinking up the place with the bad trades and the reclamation players ...
  8. Ted your always a busy man ... The twins will never spend on a true ace , stud , bulldog until we have an owner that has the desire to win and go for it ,,, To Bring a championship to the state of Minnesota they have to have that ace , stud , bulldog pitcher , profit is the current economics of the owner , and by making a profit the twins will be competitive and not CONTENDERS ... see blackjack Morris in 1991 as an example , give him the ball and try and take it out of his hands ... I wish we had more pitchers like Jack in today's game ....
  9. Don't know what to say about his projected numbers but by the eye test , I do like his confidence on the mound ... Give him the ball and he will give you everything he's got on that particular day ...
  10. I would have been interested in Seth Lugo a few years ago, he was a spot starter and reliever then , not sure what he has accomplished the past couple of year's ...
  11. Yes , every voice should be heard and proper care to whether the player should play or not ...
  12. In the past year the twins traded for two starting pitchers ... You failed to mention the injured paddack ... We depleted the prospect list at deadline so I say no to a trade and go after the rodon , injury prone but I'd take a risk on him and a lefthander in the rotation would complement the rotation ,,, outbid in free agency and not lose any prospects in trades unless it's from a surplus of positions , but teams want pitchers and the twins don't have surplus in pitching so I don't see a trade option ....
  13. We could have a few good pitchers in the minors with promise but not labeled and ace at the moment ... But the pitcher with a label of a possible ace in our system was traded for sonny gray ... I said possible ace , the prospects either fail or exceed ... If the twins traded sonny gray today they would not get a pitcher labeled an ace in return and probably not even as good as sonny , we possibly over paid for sonny but time will tell ... That's my plan and I'm sticking to it ...
  14. I never understood why the twins signed Donaldson after the bomba squad of 2019 ... We needed quality pitching for 2020 and each year we go to the playoffs it is proven ... Yes was glad to see donalson traded and urshela played 3rd base adequately but produced better at the plate in 2022 than donalson , I like urshela and if they tender him a contract that woukd be all right ... Every team needs quality pitching but FO seems to always trade our best pitchers in trades and not replaced with major league caliber arms , prospects take time to develop in trades and Acala if healthy may be a contributor from the pressley trade ... Yes pressley has been going strong for Houston and they found talent and tapped into that talent and made him better , something I have been questioning of our coaches , do the Twins coaches have the ability with a talented player to tap into that talent and make them better ....
  15. It sounds to good to be true that the twins drafted such a talented player ... His attitude seems right on as he ENJOYS playing the game , I hope the business side of baseball doesn't diminish that approach ... He could be a special player , congratulations on your success Mr. Brooks ....
  16. It's risky with these free agents , and plenty have had injuries ... I say take a risk for rodon as he is a lefthander and probably the best of the bunch if he can stay healthy ...
  17. It's discouraging talking about trading this guy or that guy right now , the twins are not playing right now because the plan went south ... The playoffs were played and there was some solid exciting performances to watch the way baseball should be played ... The world series starts Friday , I will be watching ... I live for opening day and the world series and everything in-between ... Yes , I wish it was the twins playing exciting baseball in the fall ...
  18. I laugh everytime FO signs an old veteran or a pitcher from the dumpster or even one that has a history of arm problems ... That may get you competitive games through the season but won't help you win or contend in the playoffs and beyond ... Contend is the key word , stay away from the garbage because it stinks ...
  19. Ryan made 5 starts in 2021 and then started opening day in 2022 ... Varland made 5 starts in 2022 and most likely will start the season in AAA unless sonny gray requests a trade or there is an injury ... SWR will start the season at AAA unless there is an injury ... Balazovic and enlow are prospects and need to improve performance in 2023 or they are no longer prospects ... The rest are working there way to the majors with good results but a year or two away ...
  20. A left handed starter in the rotation would be nice ... We all know who , take the risk ...
  21. I wouldn't have responded but you mocked me when I am having some fun with my prediction ... You may feel the twins used him perfectly and other teams would use him the same ... Sonny Gray may not see it that way as a veteran , as a veteran pitcher he wants more say in the matter , if he is cruising along with a 1 hitter through 5th inning and twice through batting order , he wants more innings , if he is getting knocked around he mostly likely will agree with the manager that it's not his night and take a seat ... I am looking through the forest and I see the trees and the lake too ... I would not play for this manager's/FO'S plan ,,, I still predict that my gut tells me sonny gray will ask for a trade , and my gut definitely tells me he will not sign an extension ...
  22. Good report ... Nice to see the twins talent having good outcomes in the AFL ... It's their time to shine ....
  23. I'm still predicting my gut feeling that Sonny Gray will request a trade out of the twins organization ...
  24. Kepler has worn out his welcome as a hitter who doesn't make adjustments ( mostly because Rocco bats him 4th and he doesn't belong there in the batting order ) ... His defense is another matter and is definitely above average and keeps him in the lineup ... He has value in a trade but just how much I can't speculate , there are suckers born every minute , trade him ...
  25. The trade .... Did the twins win the trade , I don't really care ... It did get donalsons attitude out of the clubhouse and urshela was a above average defender at 3rd base in my eyes and he had a better average in 2022 than Donaldson ... In comes Correa after dumping the salary of Donaldson and his leadership and attitude helped the clubhouse ... Yes it was a mistake to sign Donaldson after the 2019 bomba squad and the money should have been towards an ace , stud , bulldog pitcher ... The money is wiped clean with the trade and Correa opting out , so now go out and get that pitching ace and a bullpen arm ... The twins did save some money by trading donaldsons contract in the long term and signing Correa to 1 year contract ...
