With his deficiency at shortstop it just astounds me that they keep playing him at the position and not try and develop him at a different position ... It just puzzles me that our FO and coaching don't do something about the obvious , he isn't a defensive shortstop , to many errors in less than a 100 games ...

Jorge Polanco Has a Looming Decision

Our FO seems to build a roster with hope ,,, you can't succeed in building a team with hope that they can find away to make them perform differently for us then they did with other teams ... THE FANS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT SHOULD HAVE THE HOPE ... GALLO was not the right choice to add to the roster but if the front office hopes he produces they can maybe trade him at deadline ... We got a catcher at a position of need , we haven't fully filled the other holes the right way ... We lost a few of our better hitters in trades or free agency so the younger players are going to have to stay healthy and produce .... That's my story and I'm sticking to it ....

New Year's Resolutions for the Top 5 Twins Prospects
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I always look forward to seeing the prospects playing in the bigs ... I am still out of town so this is what I have to say for the new year ... I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE FRONT OFFICE AND THEIR MOVES ... adding Gallo is a head scratcher , we have no balanced lineups , we needed right handed hitters and we sign a lefty that most likely will be a Sano from the left side ...- 14 replies

FO just always seem to throw in a few head scratcher in their acquisitions in the off season .... Adding Gallo is definitely a head scratcher as he is left handed and the twins have a surplus of left handed hitters , right handed hitters are needed to balance out the lineup and FO goes the opposite direction and signs a left handed hitter that will imp a ( Sano style ) and strike out 4 times a game or give you a homer or double every once in awhile .... I am not looking forward to the gallo acquisition ... Their plan just doesn't seem to change , they go the opposite direction everyone is thinking and if they do well they can brag they are the smartest people in the room ... And if they fail , they again will not take any responsibility ... The front office continues to take the fun out of twins baseball , but I'll give it another shot next season and hope my favorite players perform ....

Let the young players play the game ... Take the talent and tap into that talent and make them better ... But as some have already mentioned the coaches seem inadequate to deliver this proposal to the players ....

Rumor: Gleeman Reports Twins Have Made Correa Substantial Offer
Blyleven2011 replied to CRF's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
We should move on from Correa , winter meetings should of been the deadline ... Need a catcher , go get one ... Trade kepler , get it done .... 2022 and 2021 weren't exciting twins baseball , help is needed to bring back an exciting product on the field , coaching needs to get it in gear and inspire the troops .... -
Senga Signs with Mets; what's left for Twins?
Blyleven2011 replied to mikelink45's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Having been a true fan since the 1960's , I too am at my wits end with the teams inactiveness to fill the needed positions ... If they do trade arreaz I am done supporting this team ... Crazy how much money the big markets spend , that's only another reason to root against them ... -

Why Can't the Twins Spend Like the Padres?
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It would be better if we had an owner that has a passion for the game and spend on a contender ,not a competitive team like we always seem to have .... If the window is open , spend more than an opposition for a couple of years to bring a real contending team to the fans ... Do we really have a window open as of yet ,,, with the play of the team the past few seasons and what the front office calls a plan , I'm not sure the window is quite open , I hope I'm wrong .... -
California angels drafted 21 pitchers in 2021 , Everyone needs pitching ... We draft petty and trade him ,, Please don't trade arms that have high upside .... I'm in agreement that we need pitching but the lower risk is to pick the best available player , whether it's a pitcher or a hitter ..... I'd lean more on the best pitcher at #5 , we picked up the best college bat at #8 last year ...

Minnesota’s 3 Most Tradeable Prospects
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I too think Julien is expendable with others vying for infield positions ... SWR has made his debut last season ( one start ) and should be able to contribute when called apon , most likely will start at AAA ... LEE was considered the best college hitter in the draft and he showed great promise in his minor league professional debut , he is right around the corner at making his major league debut ... LEE will start at AA , move up to AAA next year and possibly make his major league debut if he stays healthy and keeps hitting , HE LOOKS THAT GOOD ....- 21 replies

The Argument Against Trading Max Kepler
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Superior defense there is no argument , his inability to make adjustments in batting is the argument .... I don't understand exactly why he bat's high in the lineup and has been a rally killer , he is just not productive enough and needs to move towards the bottom of the order ... Do all the stats tell Rocco that he is a cleanup hitter or am I missing something , he walked more as a lead off hitter but now he is more of a free swinger and walks are down some ... He had a tremendous year in 2019 and was fun to watch and then signed an extention , just like Mauer did in 2009 when he got his extention ... It was hard to think of Kepler getting traded after 2019 but that is when his value was the highest after he finally broke out with a career year , but his prior seasons weren't anything to get excited about as a hitter ... His defense is what keeps him in the lineup but please do not bat him higher than seventh until he earns it ... -
Rumor: Arraez Potentially on Trade Block for Pitching
Blyleven2011 replied to Vanimal46's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Man all this talk of if the right deal comes along , trade arraez ... The most exciting player next to Buxton ( when healthy ) , arraez could or would play every position if you asked him too ... You trade this 300 hitter and you will regret it , we need consistent at bat's and he has proven his consistency and played well at 1st base ... Yes I wish he played a little better defense or had better knees , but I'll take what he gives us and that's ( heart ) ... They trade arraez ( our spark plug major leaguer ) and im done with this team and FO ... The excitement will be gone ... -
He hasn't put pen to paper yet so he is still available ... I'm not into hearsay , speculation on where he will sign ... If he signs with the twins or any other team , that is his choice ... It will all come down to dollar amount with these free agents of today , he got the highest paid infielders salary last year from the twins , need I say more ...
-
The deadline should have been yesterday if you want a plan A ... But seriously the winter meetings should be the deadline for signing Correa to get the ball rolling on plan A , boras will be there and most likely Correa will be to ( somewhere ) ... Get it done or move on after winter meetings ... I'm not really interested in the free agents because of the high dollars they receive , I like watching our own prospects develope ... Go twins ...

The Argument for Trading Jorge Polanco
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
A no on a trade ... We already have lost 2 of the better hitters in the lineup from 2022 , urshela and Correa , ( Correa could resign is a big ??? ) ... Polanco had a down year and yes it could have been due from injuries that he played through .... I'll take Polanco's bat in the lineup everyday if possible , he plays well , his defense deficiencies is his throwing errors ... trade Kepler , defense is good but lack of adjustments in hitting and Rocco batting him 4th is not a fit for the lineup ... KEEP POLANCO AS HE IS A PROVEN TALENT and cheap enough for the twins compared to other second basemens salaries ... If they haven't traded Kepler by now , why should they trade Polanco , Polanco's bat is more important in the lineup ... The twins have extended 3 players and only Polanco was worthy of it ... I'm sure Correa is telling the front office not to trade Polanco like he did at the deadline with Miranda ... -
Minnesota's Recent Rule 5 Draft History is Mixed
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Our current FO has only claimed one player in the rule 5 draft since taking over , 2017 Mckinney from the marlins who pitched some games for the twins and was returned back to Miami ... I guess they would rather spend the money on dumpster diving candidates ...- 34 replies

Minnesota's Recent Rule 5 Draft History is Mixed
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Terry Ryan was always active in the rule 5 draft , mostly pitchers were selected and he had his fair share of success ... Current FO hasn't been as active in the rule 5 draft other than protecting players who they think have promise in contributing to the MLB ... Tyler wells was a loss for the twins because every team needs pitching , pitching and more pitching ...- 34 replies

Is a Healthy Tyler Mahle an Ace?
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As posted by many he is not an ace , an above average pitcher maybe ... He was 3-12 in 2019 , he was 13-6 in 2021 with 180 innings pitched , his most in any season , a 500 record to date and a career Era of over 4 ... It's a shame the goal of 20 wins a season by a pitcher is not attainable by most pitchers ... A bulldog , stud or consistent ace he is not ... A good pitcher when healthy , can't wait to see the big red machine become winners again with the trades from twins and Seattle ...- 28 replies

How Big is the Twins Catching Problem?
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As I stated in yesterday in a post why hasn't the twins signed Narvaez ... Defense and leadership is very important to the success of the team at the catcher position ... He calls the game , he positions players in the field , he blocks balls in the dirt ( limit wild pitches ), he throws out a high percentage of base stealers, he doesn't allow pass balls .... We have lacked a defensive catcher for awhile and I'm tired of seeing the ball get by the catcher and the runner scores from third base ... CATCHER IS THE BIGGEST NEED FOR A TEAM, , pure and simple , pitching is next ... Both world series contenders this year had a great defensive catcher ... That my plan and I'm sticking to it ...- 62 replies

Why Haven't The Twins Signed Omar Narváez Yet?
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Catcher is a very important position or was at one time ... Catchers used to be the leader of the field , he'd position fielders , he'd call the pitch , he'd block balls in the dirt , he'd throw out a higher percentage of base stealers, he'd be the leader of the team ... What happened, I don't know but they sure aren't what they used to be , also catchers were always considered a future manager ... We need a defensive catcher pure and simple , go get a good one ? and if he hits 250 so be it , it's the defense that is important ...
