    The most notable move is one I'm ok with in Edwards...but the price to add a player like that is likely steep. Other than that this looks like a roster that is doubling down on being 75ish wins? It's the same crew as this year but with none of the benefit of moving on from guys like Ryan and Lopez to help the future. Just another wheel-spinning season of mediocrity.

    I agree, splitting a four game series with them sounds about right. We're much closer to being the Angels than the Dodgers. Kremer has pitched himself into a role, that was a savvy deal. Nice to see Roden get something he can build off of.

    You can tell how much it helps him to have guys like LDR, Orange, and Banks also causing chaos so that he can move around, find good matchups, and play dominant. He was an absolute stud today. I've been worried about Banks and he looked good too.

    Agreed, I'd give him one more shot. This team has to embrace that next year ain't it. If you have guys you can invest some playing time in that still have a hope of upside....do it.

    I don't personally consider press conference comments to be terribly reliable about what is happening behind the scenes. Per our previous conversation, and the one you're having here, I don't think you're considering Falvey's behavior relative to your narrative about what occurred. As I said before, abrupt changes from ownership are the most comprehensive explanation for the last 3-4 years. Abrupt changes that caused Falvey to have to make decisions that were seemingly incoherent or lacked long-term thinking. Ultimately, which caused him to peace out.

    He has been instrumental in getting us that top 10 pick next year though since the deadline. Don't sleep on that!

    You may need to accept that you've had the Pohlad/Falvey situation wrong from the get-go. Like I said in our conversation from a few months ago - it takes nothing away from your valid criticisms of Falvey to distinguish between things that are his fault and blame that lies at the feet of the Pohlads. My guess is that Falvey realized he no longer had an ownership group he could count on to be consistent in setting short and long term expectations and resigned rather than become the fall guy. (Though he deserved to be that fall guy for moves unrelated to Pohlad behavior)

    Do you know when they had that conversation on Gleeman's pod? I'm curious to hear his reporting on this. But yeah, this is exactly what I was speculating back in this thread. It's the only reasonable explanation for how he behaved as a GM.

    All I know is that I expect there to be points. It's early, the field in Chicago will be as playable as ever, the Bears do have an array of weapons, and also one of the worst defenses in the entire NFL. I think it ends up something like 35-31 Bears.

    The error was in bringing back Larnach AND signing Bell. This forced a terrible defender into the field and limited the flexibility of the roster. They then doubled down on this mistake by not trading him at the deadline when there was at least some interest in acquiring him. I believe Erod starts the season with the Twins had there not been a change in direction by the ownership and Larnach would've found a home somewhere else. Or Bell would never have been signed and Larnach would've played where he belongs at DH.

    I would happily have taken the under on innings pitched for Prielipp after August 15th at the beginning of the year, so seeing him pitch like this in late September is awesome to see for his future. Also, is it legal to be both a good young hitter and a good fielder? Asking before someone arrests Mr. Erod for being such a welcome breath of fresh air.

    This brings up something I've been saying for awhile (and fought upstream abput with many posters here): I don't think Falvey had advanced notice on the payroll slash or the "we're going to win!" ownership changeups. I think he added Correa under the notion he had payroll manueverability and had it abruptly changed. This offseason he resigned rather than deal with it again.

    They've been diverse in their knee-cappings too. Professional screw-ups. Doing well and generating buzz? Slash payroll!!! Doing poorly and announce you're selling the team? Psych!!! We're keeping it you sorry suckers!!! A solidly below .500 team with every regression alarm blaring and several primo assets you could sell in a seller's market? Buy baby buy!

    All decisions between now and first pitch 2028 are about ushering in the next wave of talent. It's time to move on from multiple people and invest playing time into assets with long-term upside.

    Lackey looks like a fast-track kind of player, so a stop-gap, two year deal for someone like Carson Kelly is appealing to me. Somone with a pretty good track record as a defensive catcher who can help the young pitchers develop. A Henry Davis change of scenery type would appeal to me as well.

    I just want to take a ride on an airplane or go to a produce section without Yippy the Dipshlt Dog being in attendance with me. Why is that so hard? I have a similar experience in that my son was chasing a ball in the park when he was three and an unleashed rottweiler trucked him to get the ball, sent his sandals flying, and then ran over to my crying child and wrestled his sandal out of his hand as we were running to separate them. Dog owner barely cared, treated it like my kid shouldn't have been running....at a human park. We own a dog now and have worked through that fear with him as a teenage, but JFC dog owners are the worst.

    This is off-topic and no slight on dogs themselves..... But some of the most entitled, insufferable people in our society are dog owners. Airplanes, grocery stores, influencers, unleashed at parks....there is nowhere these jackasses think they can't go without their hairy, unruly "child" in tow. Hopping off my soapbox now.
