  1. This is a fantastic point and similar to one I've been making over and over throughout the off-season. If there's a good contending product on the field year after year, I don't care one bit what the payroll is. Fortunately, so far they seem to be setting up all the pieces of a long term competitive group which is ultimately the only way out of this mess. If we circle back to a different thread, about how good are they, how much they spend is part of the equation. They aren't going to need record payroll, although I'm sure they would have liked a little extra this year. Can you imagine a Brian Cashman doing the Twins job? They way he does this job is completely different than a Twins situation. Can you imagine someone even named Cashman working for the Twins? Also, B-R is littered with failed GMs that had a seemingly open checkbook. I'm sure it's easier but the mistakes are bigger. I'd give it a try though.
  2. Sweet, I'll be there Friday so look for me behind the plate. I'll be in a speedo so you can't miss me!
  3. But where will Royce play when he gets back? I'm as open too it as with all of Rocco's moves but I have to think being left handed will eventually hurt him.
  4. Seems like as good a time as any to remember that this is a regular season game and managerial decisions are going to seem very odd but they aren't the same things Rocco would do in the playoffs. I am confused by the Sands Alcala pitch count mix though. I thought for sure it would be 2 for Sands. Alcala usage is bizarre.
  5. But everything falls under him, and he has EVPs and whatnot to execute on it. I don't doubt he is heavily involved but from the Forbes article "her first order of business is to land a uniform sponsorship deal". Nothing on the sleeves yet. It goes on to mention the next thing is the TV thing imploding. Highly possible the pain of the TV crap would make me look at an NFL option too as the chief revenue officer. Like how do you want me to make revenue when I can't get on TV in Iowa?
  6. EVP and chief revenue officer is a much different role than a VP of sales. The early hopping isn't all that concerning as it is more of the "sales executive" role and there is nothing executive about it. VP of sales is generally a VP in title only. They get these titles as it presents better to clients. Rank wise, they are somewhere in the senior manager or director level at most companies and not officers of the company. The jump to SVP (Levine) is huge. The jump to EVP (Falvey) is huge again. She would have been an official officer of the company and represent a significant part of the executive group. Her departure is a big deal. Sales people have always been the most notorious job hoppers. It's part of the territory. It's the short stints in leadership roles that I'm wondering about.
  7. At best it's two years and 6 months, if we assume two weeks notice given. More likely they gave her a chance find something new much earlier. Also an odd two years overlap at her previous place per her LinkedIn. It's very much oddly short for an EVP. At that level, it takes at least a year to get your plan in action. It obviously did not work, for whatever reason. There was a buyout involved, possibly going either way, and I would bet a lot of sausage on it. I'm going to dig into marketing partnership announcements later tonight. We might actually have an actual hot lead here that might explain many of the issues we have been seeing. I'd love to see Falvey or St Peter get asked about it.
  8. Did you miss the part about the EVP of PR and Marketing having an oddly short stint with the organization? Crazy huh. Almost as if "leadership" was doing something about it. Also, EVP is very much a "leadership" position.
  9. Having the depth makes it so much easier. We've struggled with this in the past when it was only one dominant reliever and nothing after.
  10. I'm quite interested in this angle. For an organization that is well known for loyalty and holding on to people long after Twins Daily is done with them this is quite out of character for them. From the Bears hire article. "Morris has been with the Twins since August 2021, where she has overseen ticket and sponsorship sales and service, business intelligence, marketing, communications, events and other divisions." There are several very, very relevant tie ins to current issues in that list. That the chief revenue officer exited around the same time we got some significant frank news from Joe and Derek regarding, umm, revenue based issues is probably not a coincidence. Her modern "executive" resume is pretty typical and leaving after three years fits her job hopping pattern but it's a mostly lateral move. She is even stretching her Twins time on LinkedIn to 3 years by not listing the months, it's publicly under 2 and a half years and probably privately less. The problem with the job hopping is you never get properly evaluated in just a year at a place. Everyone gets results in their first year.
  11. On the contact play where Max got in the run down he looks positively spry. They showed a high angle replay of the play and the ground he covered was impressive.
  12. Yes, I earned it. We drove the 140 miles to Mandan to go to the bar, if that gives you any idea.
  13. I doubt mine are still accessible as Mandan ND PD probably wasn't very online circa 2000. Great stories though.
  14. I mean, you know, before that. I'm thinking it may be a true down all day day for Jeffers.
  15. Man, grow up. Did it ever occur to you that Rocco might have some information you don't? Or maybe a long season to navigate? It's not game seven.
  16. Has anyone bothered to check when Jeffers last down day was? I have.
  17. Absolutely nothing wrong with pulling SWR there. Get out of your narratives.
