  1. Sets up the pinch hit with power hitter Vazquez.
  2. You mean perennially over performing the "experts" with moves the "experts" hate? I'll take it. We are seeing a dose of that this year already. They are also willing to spend money if they think it's wise. The big one didn't work out for them. Fortunately for the Twins they were able to learn about character relatively cheaply through Donaldson.
  3. But where has he been for the last two months? Two rehab games 6+ weeks ago then nothing? It's been awfully quiet.
  4. Really encouraged by Julien, especially the last at bat. At the time it felt like the kind of PA that something clicks, regardless of outcome. Three days ago he might regret the gray uniform facing 100, today he attacked it.
  5. Those don't look like Sonny Gray stats?
  6. Was going to say, he was out of the inning at about the 4 minute mark. 😆
  7. Can't tell you, don't care enough to look. It doesn't matter unless you know how long it takes Jax to be ready from a dead sleep.
  8. If only time was a thing that could be adequately measured and those measurements notated in a way that was commonly accepted worldwide. Oh wait, there is. It was 4 minutes 32 seconds from Alcalas first pitch to a tie game. Jax was up at about the 2 minute mark. Gleeman and Geek broke it down on their podcast today. To put that on Rocco is pretty nuts, to be honest. Had he had another guy ready folks would be mad about dry humping 99% of the time. Almost as if facts don't matter to preset opinions. Bad, Rocco, Bad!
  9. You should, that's generally a good outcome on the road against good teams that are playing well.
  10. Filthy...as expected. Santana...as expected. lol
  11. I dont mind them taking their time bringing him back. It's probably better for both this season as next. I know everyone wants to write guys off the first chance they get but fortunately the front office has patience unavailable to the internet. It's easy to forget how easy it is for a starting pitcher to be worth a 7.5m salary. He's been worth 8.5m already this year. I also wouldn't mind if they got some nice trade pieces back as he should have good value but I'd rather gamble on the trade deadline. If he proves healthy next year he would be worth a major haul at the deadline.
  12. There will be left on left crime one way or the other.
  13. I don't discount that being stuck to a position as a factor but I think missing the guy he's covering for is probably a bigger one. Missing Correa and the right handed lineup not performing as well lately exposes him more than they would like with a player struggling. If all the righties are available he can hide out in the 7-8 spot and feast on a pitcher looking for a breather after facing Lewis, Correa, Buxton and Miranda. He's leading off a lot lately after being down in the order most of the first half.
  14. And what would the 700k guy cost? Less. JHC. I'm not going to write for a five year old so you can keep up.
  15. I'm OK with being able to read. I have a hell of a lot more financial literacy than most of these writers, probably all. I'm more than comfortable challenging the narrative until some obvious questions get asked and answered. I'm OK being out on my own here, others will catch up soon enough. The Bob Nightingale piece actually doesn't have quotes, despite your insistence. I looked again. There is not one on the record quote from a team source cited anywhere. The on the record statements are actually quite different. Words matter such as the highlighted ones in Passan's quote, shown below. There is not much difference in what Passan says here from any other year-when has this not been the case? It's also a quote from him, not any named source. "Money issues continue to hinder any shot at a big move, and it's why the Twins are an add-and-subtract team and not simply an add team like they ought to be," Passan reports. "If the opportunity to acquire a higher-salary player presents itself, they would need to offload salary from their major league roster in that deal or another to cancel out the expense." We still don't have a good reason they added a $2.1m reliever when so many $700k guys were available. Musta been too much stoopid money getting in the way.
  16. But they do pay more for offense at a premium position. Harper wasn't a 1B when he signed that contract. Outfielders do very well if they can hit and Boras knows that.
  17. TLDR-don't bother. To what would you attribute the vast improvements of Eduard Julien? Jeffers drafted as a bat first catcher? You are correct that they value versatility but c'mon man. Defense is very important to them, like playing Santana when he was hitting a buck o 5.
